Re: Hmmm. Comparsion Shopping..
For the most part I agree with you, but there are a few areas that I don't.
1. The majority (not all) consumers do not need nearly as much data as they think. Many people want unlimited just because it is unlimited and they don't ever go over 2GB. I do think that Verizon needs to have a couple of higher tiers for this structure. Maybe 15GB and 20GB? This would help accomodate both power users that use a lot ...
Re: These plans are not for everyone
I'm not sure how that would be a trick around this policy? You are still doing an upgrade, they will still make you switch to the new plans. They don't care which line you take the upgrade from or which line you use that upgrade on, an upgrade is an upgrade and an upgrade means you have to move to the new plans.
If you are talking about the current plans and not the ones coming on June 28th ...
Re: Wait?
Lol. Yes and same with regular corn (the type you don't pop) Linux is powered by popcorn didn't you know that Jay?
On a serious note, the kernal is basically what shows the processor how to use the OS/hardware if you weren't just making a funny comment.
Re: Knew it
With Android you don't even have to read the T&C to know about it. It is literally a checkbox on a dedicated screen during setup that asks if you would like to provide anonymous location data to google. Yes, I believe the box is checked by default but if you go through setup fast enough that you don't read what is next to a checkbox then you have no room to complain about this.
Re: Wait?
To my understanding it isn't "the" Linux kernal but rather "a" linux kernal, which sounds to be the exact one that Google chose to use. This may have some effect on Android's future, but I don't think it will be anything major, or even something that the users will notice. Based on the knowledge I have gained through rooting my phone, I believe there are many Linux kernals available (I believe this because there are many kernals that you ...
Re: I knew she meant broadband card
That works too. Just make sure you pour it into the cd tray to replace 3 meals a day!
Re: Pricing
So not signing a contract is retarded? IMO signing contracts is kind of a stupid idea for phones. Think of the amount of headaches we would save if there were no upgrades to wait for. Plan pricing could be lowered so we could all save money, the money that we saved could then either be put towards purchasing a phone that we want or it could be put towards other things when we are tight on money. This paired ...
Re: my givadam is BUSTED!!
Lol that scenario just screamed CP. lol. Gotta love it. I'll be so glad when I can hand my badge in and move on!
Re: my givadam is BUSTED!!
Do you by chance work for T-Mobile in the Inland Northwest area, specifically Idaho? I think I may be in the same building as you. Lol
Now the question is....
....which apps have been exploiting this the whole time? Well that and where is this data supposed to be going to, and for what purpose?
The isheep herder jokes are funny, but this could be very serious. Aside from just apps that could be stealing this data, there could be viruses that are stealing this data from computers (be that windows or mac.) I have a feeling that this is going to effect Apple more than we know. What use ...
Re: another question for phonescoop staff
I definitely would like to see tablets here as well. Mainly because this is the only external website that I (and many others in the wireless industry) have access to at work. It is very helpful to be able to compare devices with those of other carriers without having to know every spec of every device, offered by carriers that I neither work for nor use as a service provider, off the top of my head and it would ...
Re: Turning off the internet
As long as you purchase your own device T-Mobile will allow you service on a smartphone without data. You will need to set up an Even More Plus plan to do this which is non contracted. The phone will need to be purchased separately, most likely online but some retailers will allow you to just purchase a phone at retail price without a plan to put it on. You will need to either set up your service with telesales ...
Re: 20+ minutes nothing but 1x data, so what exactly does reliable mean coming from Verizon???
I am talking on an external level. I know employees can generally find out which towers serve their company but how can a customer determine it (aside of course asking someone who works for the company, who may or may not know.)
Re: Any handsets with faster data than 14.2 Mbps?
Just adding that the Nexus S is either 7.2 or 10.? Mbps as it is not considered a 4g phone. I'm not sure which one it is though and I am too lazy to check myself.
Re: 20+ minutes nothing but 1x data, so what exactly does reliable mean coming from Verizon???
I have to ask... How do people know if it is a Verizon tower or if it belongs to another carrier? I have seen a fair amount of cell towers and nothing jumps out to say that it belongs to any particular carrier. Am I missing something, or are these people just assuming?
Re: Manual Install Of Gingerbread
Yeah makes perfect sense. Assuming that you didn't change the apps that you are using then it sounds like the leaked version has some type of a bug that is draining your battery. I am not quite sure of the process (if there is one) for the Droid X. Have you taken a look on XDA Developers Forum yet? If there is an answer out there it is most likely found on XDA. I would look for you, but ...
Re: To those who work in stores. . .
Hmm.... That thermonuclear marshmallow shooter may be a great idea.... Although I do see it as pretty dangerous. No one likes taking a flaming hot marshmallow to the face.
I want one too as long as it is embedded in my cell phone and shoots the mini marshmallows like I put in my hot chocolate! I suppose then I would need a physical keyboard which has the space bar programmed as the trigger to avoid misfires if I was ...
Re: Manual Install Of Gingerbread
We are going to need a lot more information in order to help you here. What phone do you have? What do you mean by "manual install?" If you rooted your phone then what ROM are you using? What else changed on your phone, because in my experience Gingerbread gets better battery life than Froyo (although I know that other's experiences could differ?) Are you using any apps that you weren't using on Froyo, or any new widgets? What ...
Re: T-Mobile Student Discount
No problem :) Good luck, hopefully if your school doesn't have a discount the rep that you speak with will be able to find another discount that would apply, there's thousands of them so there is a good chance that you would have some type of a discount.
Re: galaxy s2 release date?
I personally haven't heard any dates yet, but I haven't gotten a chance to speak with our Samsung rep. Not saying there couldn't be a date yet just that I haven't heard it.
Re: So what are all you T-Mobile people gonna do...
Lol what do these people think is going to happen when it goes through? The FCC says that they can purchase T-Mobile one day and the next day AT&T flips the switch on T-Mo service rendering the phones useless? Haha that is not the way it works. This will be a very long, drawn out process. If you buy a phone now on a 2 year contract I seriously doubt ANYTHING will change within your contract period other than ...
Re: New Phones
I don't think that HTC has pushed an update for Sense to any phones that were currently on the market when they came out with the newer version (I could be wrong here though.) I know they have pushed minor updates for Sense along with OS updates, but not to new version of Sense to my knowledge. I know it definitely sucks that you just got your phone and wont be seeing the update, that is one of my ...
Re: New Phones
I personally really like the look of Sense but with how much it impedes performance (at least in its stock state) I have grown to hate it. Although on a rooted phone with an optimized Sense based ROM it can run very well. Launcher Pro is a nice alternative, I also really like Go Launcher EX. That is what I'm currently using due to some issues that Launcher Pro has with the current ROM I am using (Launcher Pro ...
Re: If it happens...
Yeah roughly 2 years is the time frame I am expecting for this to be completed, and I also expect the FCC to say that AT&T can't re purpose the spectrum for a few years which they will probably agree to and then turn around and begin re purposing it in no more than 2 years (with around 1 year from completion more likely in my mind). That is just what I see happening. This is personal speculation only, ...
Re: T-Mobile Student Discount
Discounts for college/university students range from 0%-15% there are definitely discounts still available for students. Whoever told you that was either lying because they were in consumer sales and didn't want to transfer you to business sales, or the discount for your particular school was discontinued. It isn't a generic discount for all students, it is based on which school you attend. I am in business sales and I know for a fact that there are still student discounts ...
Re: HTC v/s Motorola
No they don't have the arrows, but its a touch screen, all you have to do is touch where you want to edit. Its way faster than using arrows to go back 20 characters, just to touch where you want the cursor. In my experience most people do prefer onscreen keyboards once they try them, but I am sure there are some out there that still would like to have a physical keyboard. They really should come out with ...
Re: Hotpot? Awesome!
Lol. the editor definitely dropped the ball on this article. Along with the misspelling of HOTSPOT in the title, in this quote "From now on, it will no longer be referred to as Hotpot, bit will instead become a feature of Google Places." the word but was misspelled as bit. None the less, this sounds pretty cool, I would check it out if I lived in any of the supported cities. Hopefully this expands to cover at least most ...
The pressed the wrong button on purpose
Rep: Hi thanks for calling (insert carrier name here.) How are you today?
Cust: I pressed the wrong button can you transfer me.
Rep: Oh I'm sorry to hear that, what was it that you were looking to do today?
Cust: Look! I told you I need to be transfered!
Rep: I completely understand (sir or ma'am,) but I need to make sure that you end up in the right department.
Cust: Well whatever then, I'll just call back! *Click*
Rep: Well have a ...
Re: What does Verizon CHARGE you???!!!!???
Cool how about you let me put my 2 lines on your account. I'll pay you $100 a month which surely would be more than you would pay for them so you can make some money, and I'll save some money!

Re: WAIT
The Comet is made by Huawei... are they associated with HTC?
Besides that, I doubt that he has the money to pay for his Flexpay plan and the retail cost of that phone That would be a minimum of $220 up front. My bet is that he is on MetroPCS.
Re: Question about price plan discounts...
Just to add to that, IMHO I think the current plan is a better deal because you aren't throttled after 2 GB. Of course that depends on whether you use more minutes or more data. I know first hand that the speeds are pretty painful when throttled.
Re: What does Verizon CHARGE you???!!!!???
I pay about $150 for 2 lines 700 minutes, unlimited in network texts on both, unlimited data on 2 smartphones, and insurance on both phones, but I have a discount through the company I work for (a T-Mobile call center. LOL!) It was $180 after taxes before I added my discount though.
Re: android apps
If you are rooted then Titanium Backup is all you need. Otherwise with Android 2.2 or 2.3 just move your apps to your SD card. If neither of these apply to you then you are out of luck to my understanding.
Re: Moto Cliq 2 root to 2.3
Check on XDA Developers forum.
Re: so i just put 2.3 on my incredible
Yeah I know about that, but he was asking if there are 2 different versions of the Vibrant. To me it sounds like just the front of his phone is different from the other ones so if that is the case then it would mean that the different one isn't a Galaxy S 4G, but possibly a revision of the Vibrant.
Re: Angry T-Mobile customer looking for advice/resolution
Sorry dude but you are out of luck. T-Mobile was the last major carrier that would allow you to tether without having an additional feature for it. Well that option went away. This is nothing like them saying that they are going to charge you extra for using your camera, as that doesn't effect them. Here are a couple of reasons why carriers charge for tethering. 1. It uses more bandwidth than your phone does (generally speaking.) 2. People ...
Re: Funny name.
I was resourcing yesterday and one of the reps I was helping on a call had a customer with the last name Phetchumporn. LOL!!!
Re: "Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead...
I certainly hope Sprint has a plan here that they just aren't mentioning. We all know that Verizon is just waiting for the divestitures to happen and they have the money to pad the pockets of anyone that tries to stand in their way. I have no doubt that if this deal does go through and there are divestitures that Verizon will end up with a large portion of the spectrum if not nearly all of it.
I personally ...
Re: AKA
Does that cover everything (ie: loss, theft, damage, and liquid damage) like Assurion? I have heard of a similar deal that covered everything other than liquid damage. If yours covers that as well then it sounds like a great deal to me!
