I agree!
Yuck. When are we going to see a real technology advancement?

Re: Wow, that is some phone
Now I have to decide whether to go with my original idea of replacing my V710 with the RAZR, or sell my BlackBerry and get one of these, going with the "combined" device. Hmmmmm...

IR can control home entertainment equipment?
Did anyone else notice this? -->
Infrared (IR) can control home entertainment equipment
Does it mean that they have a higher powered IR transmitter than required for the usual "sync" to a PC?
Re:Motorola never came out with the dual charger for V710 and HS810?Actually they did!!!!
I ordered 2 today.
I received an email from Motorola with a "BlueTooth" accessory 20% discount + I did the survey and got and extra 10%.
I ended up paying only $6.99 each, due to the 30% discount. They consider it a BlueTooth accessory, so the discount applies.

Re: Voicemail/Password Discovery
I have heard about this also. I don't know (yet) about how the phone knows how to prompt from this Voicemail SMS for "CALL" into Voicemail, but I will post as soon as I find out. I suspect that is a special SMS that also gives the "*86" (w/o "#p0000") instruction to the phone.
Re: Voicemail/Password Discovery
For me... Yes, I have NOT been able to get that # to be used. What I did was to put the "*86" ONLY under the listing on the Directory and the "*86#p" + my password under this location and tried all different ways to get into my Voicemail (e.g. Voice command, SMS prompt, holding the #1 key down) and only the "*86" were automatically entered, but nothing else. So I have to assume that this ...
Re: Voicemail/Password Discovery
Don't worry about it. :D
It took me a week to notice it. My mind automatically thought the list was only "dialing" related commands, but when I took a 2nd look is when I noticed both "Voicemail" and "Camera".
I have also put in a recommendation of other commands to list on this menu. There was someone at HowardForums that is creating a "Master List" of bugs and suggestions to Motorola on the v710.
p.s. I did a ...
Re: Voicemail/Password Discovery
Press the bottom button on the right side of the phone [It's labeled with a Pacman and two ))'s]. This brings up the "ObeyMoto" program (voice commands) and "Voicemail" is the 4th entry, right after "Camera".
Re: Voicemail/Password Discovery
I believe that there are 2 places to enter the Voicemail Number (*86).
#1) Under the Phone Directory, with an entry called "Voicemail" and "Speed No.1". This is linked to holding down the #1 key.
#2) Under "Message" menu, then "Message Settings", then "Voicemail No." I still don't know how and when this one is used.
I put the "*86p#0000" under #2) above and could never get the password to be automatically entered regardless of pressing key#1 or pressing dial ...
Re: Transflash problem HELP PLEASE
I would have to believe that you may have a bad card. I just bought a card and inserted it into the phone and it worked right away, with no formatting at all.
Here's a stupid question... Did you insert the card correctly and did you handle it correctly (not touching the gold contacts)?
Re: If I were a betting man,
This is why companies have CONTRACTS!
Verizon probably threatened Motorola / RS that if the phones were sold prior to some contract agreement date, they would be in breach of that contract and would...?
Just a thought.

Re: Just bought the phone from RadioShack!!!!
I think that exchanging your $$$ for time is ludicrous. Especially with such a short time till Verizon (retail) will sell them. What are you going to do with your new phone?
Are you going to be like those knuckleheads that buy a new motorcycle, put it in the back of their trucks, then drive around the "hot-spots" and show off? You will probably go out in public and make unnecessary phone calls (and tell your friend ...
Re: Just bought the phone from RadioShack!!!!
Sure! When and where? Should I wear my pocket protector?
Re: Just bought the phone from RadioShack!!!!
YOU'RE RIGHT! I don't work for RS. I have a REAL job. (Just kidding). (No, I'm not.)
One of my first jobs was in a warehouse (over 22 years ago) and my latest job is in computers (designing systems, DBs and writing programs) and if you trust computers (i.e. the people that enter the data and run them) then you are naive.
The only reason that a person would get the v710 from RS BEFORE Verizon ...
Re: Just bought the phone from RadioShack!!!!
You anxious people have to remember a couple "key" items before you order...
1. Does RS have stock of the v710 at the warehouse that is going to ship it to you? (I doubt it!)
2. When you pay for expedited shipping (like overnight) this does NOT guarantee that you will get your little package overnight.
Throwing extra $$$ at speeding up the shipping without knowing if the warehouse has stock is totally foolish. Expediting a shipment only guarantees that WHEN ...

Re: If you buy at RadioShack can you service your phone @ Verizon?
Yep, we are so close to the launch now that paying $500 - $600 for the phone is ridiculous!
If someone was willing to pay this now, they should have paid it a month ago on Ebay and got the phone sooner.
I am willing to wait an extra week (hoping this or next Friday) for the release and pay the $249 (w/rebate). I have to buy 2 and cheaper is better!
Re: If you buy at RadioShack can you service your phone @ Verizon?
What about if you are an AT&T subscriber that wants to switch to Verizon w/ the v710 purchase, can this all be done at RS?

You are correct on the 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512 principle.
The only reason that it would say something like "56" would be because the other "8" is being used by the system (control bits, checksum, encryption, etc.) and is unavailable to the user.
Re: brianatverizon
brianatverizon,
Is it possible that the following can happen?
1. The v710 arrives at different Verizon stores on different days and different stores get different quantities of phones to sell?
2. Some stores may release (sell) phones before the public "release date", like they did on the LG VX-7000?
3. If any of these cases are true, then someone could possibly walk into their local store a few days before the "rumored" release date and purchase the v710?
Thanks for your responses!

I have no problem with "loopy" people, all of my friends are crazy.
This is the Motorola v710 forum and that's it!
Let's all stick to the topic at hand and no one will get hurt.

Re: launch date
PhoneScoop changed the dates to --> "Planned Availability: June / July 2004".
I think that it said "Q2" previously.
Re: GOOD NEWS!! V710 is also in June's Popular Science...
:D
It is along side other "video" phones under the "What's New" column.

Re: is v710 better than v600?
Here is a simple "Yes".
The v710 has video capture, a better screen, expandable memory, and best of all --> Verizon!
