Re: anyone else guilty of this?
I understand your frustration. However, some people are under the impression that all of the lines in a family plan are under the same contract and if they sign a new contract on 1 line, it will extend the contracts on all of the other lines on the accout. So the customer was thinking that they would not have 1 line to pay the ETF on, but 4. Sometimes the salesperson needs to listen to what the customer asks ...
Re: To those anticipating the 4G iPhone
Would one of you people read the box. The phone is the iPhone 4S. The letter G is not included in its name anywhere. The 4S is the second iteration of the the iPhone 4, which was the 4th generation of iPhone.
Second, the iPhone 4S for ATT is HSPA+, which by the new definition is a 4G phone. The phone does not say 4G on the screen because Apple is waiting for an LTE version so that it ...
Re: is it too much to ask....
I don't find that it is so much wanting to have a better phone than the grandkids. I find it is more along the line of "I really didn't want a smartphone (fill in the blank of type), but my son/daughter/grandchildren said that I should get this one." then they spin 6 hours in the store wanting me to set everything up for them and asking 6000 questions on how to use it, because they don't want to learn. ...
Re: Att people, any porting specialists here?
I don't know about you but COR stores and many agents are able to out of market activations. The credit and account will need to be run in the market the number is from. Thus it would be run in MN and not run in WI. You should be able to pull up in GEARS out of POS.COM and see what region the phone is based out of and run it under that region.
Re: Does AT&T Have 1 Year Contracts?
Art does have 1 year contracts on most of their phones for new activations only. All upgrades are 2 year contracts. The iPhone and data products such as air cards are only available on 2 year contracts or no commitment agreements.
You do not get the full discount on the equipment on a 1 year contract like you do on a 2 year one. The phone will usually run you about $150 more than on a 2 year one.
Re: Bold 9900

Re: Early upgrade??
I had heard that around the first of the year too, but I still run into the 13 month upgrade often.
Re: Dear AT&T Reps
Perfoming an upgrade on a line implies that you are signing a new contract and getting discounted price on a new phone. However, since there is no contract on Go Phones, there is no discount on new equipment. Att only gives some discounts on a few models of phone when you sign up for new GO Phone service. When you want a new phone, unfortunately, ATT stores cannot give much, if any discount off of the full retail price ...
Re: Early upgrade??
To give you a straight answer, Jeliz is partially right. Depending on your rate plan, a full upgrade is available after 13 months on plans largeer than $75, and about 20 months on those smaller. In both cases, you cannot have more than 3 suspensions for non-payment during that time. An early upgrade is more expensive, and is usually available after 6 months. If you are getting a smartphone (Iphone, Android, etc.) the early upgrade price is $250 more than ...
Re: And Still...
There are a couple of things that I still can't get my head around.
The first is that Sprint's biggest competitor in the budget rate plan with a contract cell phone business is ............................................. (wait for it)..................................T-Mobile . You would think that having one of their biggest competitors out of the way would thrill Sprint to no end. After all, you would thing that the T-Mobile customers who do not want to pay the ATT rate plan prices will flock to ...
Re: Authorized Retailers
Apology accepted :D
Re: Authorized Retailers
Amen. I have worked in both COR and independent retailers and you find smart and stupid people on both sides and at care. Many times I have called care to get something taken care of and the agent either gets upset that I ask them to do something out of the ordinary or doesn't have the foggiest idea what I am talking about. Then I call back and get someone who can get my customer taken care of easily ...
Re: iPhone 5
Is Apple still in business?
Re: ATT is breaking my contract and there's nothing I can do about it? Is this fair ?
Bubey, I know that you are dissappointed that AT&T/Cingular allowed you to keep a plan from a company that was dissolved 5 years ago. You admittedly signed a 2-year contract 7 years ago in order to get a new phone. At the time, AT&T was bleeding money and was doing anything they possibly could to keep themselves alive until Cingular was to purchase them. They set up some plans that were way below market value to attract new customers. ...
Re: Pantech Breeze II
The Picture Message (MMS) does require the internet to be turned on for the plan for it to work. There should be no extra charge for the internet use in sending or receiving pictures. But the network uses the internet on the phone to send and receiv them. If she is being charged for sending/receiving pictures, something wrong with the setup for the phone. She could call customer care (1-800-331-0500) from another phone and have it checked out.
Re: Wonders
There is no reason to respond to trolls. They are like Fox news. They don't want the facts to get in the way of a good rant.
Much ado about nothing.
I still amazes me how much noise is being made about this purchase. The original merger rumors for T-Mobile were with Sprint. I seriously doubt that Mr. Hess would be crowing so much if T-Mobile had accepted their offer instead of AT&T's. He has begun protesting so loudly and aroused so many other groups to gripe about this impending purchase that it is beginning to sound like sour grapes. There wasn't much, if any, protesting when Sprint bought Nextel. ...
Re: ringtones
In the Windows Marketplace that you can access from your phone, there are several good weather apps. Two fo the best are from the Weather Channel and Weatherbug. As far as the ring tones, there isn't any way to create your own tones or download tones. This is something that Microsoft is working on.
Re: Swype
You have to remember that the early versions of Android did not have swype either. This version of Windows is less than a year old and is growing. There are supposed to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 additions and changes in the next update, Mango, that is due out this fall. If you compare Android 1.3 to 2.3, you will see all kinds of changes to the OS. And those changes have taken years to come across. ...
Re: Upgrade Question
As long as you grt another smart phone, you will be grandfathered in on the Unlimited Data for $30. If you go with a basic or quick messaging phone you will lose that package, but have the $10 unlimited data package (if you have unlimited messaging). However, if you leave the $30 unlimited package, you usually cannot go back to it.
Re: A BlackBerry question...
Mary is correct. No messages using the Blackberry messager uses text messaging. It does reduce to number of people you can text, because it i pretty much Blackberry to Blackberry.
Re: Really?
So true. The RAZR was the last good phone that Motorola made for ATT. Even the Tundra has had it's problems, much less any of their smartphones.
Re: ATT Selling BB Bold 9000 for $20
They probably are just trying to clear them out of inventory. After all, both the 9700 Bold and 9800 Torch have come out since ATT carried the 9000 Bold. They are not a bad phone. It is 3G, has decent sized keys and screen and is basically bulletproof. The only weak points are the rollerball and the inability to update to Blackberry 6.0
Re: sprit buying t-mobile
I'm not saying that it isn"t going to happen, but Sprint bringing in a third type of technology could really create problems. Sprint has wrestled for years with having CDMA and IDEN and thier incompatability issues. For all intents and purposes, they are phasing IDEN out. I don't see how bringing in a GSM carrier would help them.
Re: AT&T has Lowest BBB complaints and recieves A+ Rating!!!
I remember when Consumer Reports nearly put Audi out of business because of the "unintended accelleration" problem that their model 5000 supposedly had. They even had 60 Minutes do an expose' on it. Every other major automotive publication in the US and around the world wrote rebuttles about this, with none of them able to recreate the problem. Turns out the research was at fault and the results were wrong. I haven't listened to Consumer Reports since.
Re: Consumer Reports says AT&T is worst-rated carrier for cell phone service
I wonder how many of those customers owned iPhones. After all, that phone has the worst reception of any phone that ATT carries. We find an awful lot of the time, when a customer switches from their iPhone to a Blackberry or other smart phone, that their reception problems go away.
Re: sooo
They will be back in next week wondering what to do with the broken or lost Iphone
Re: newer pearl? sprint to att switch?
The Blackberry Pearl 9100 3G just came out about a month or 2 ago. Rim does not have the reputation of coming out with upgraded models every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So ATT will not see a new Pearl for quite a while.
Re: WHAT ANDROID PHONE FROM ATT WOULD YOU GET????
Motorola has NEVER made a good smartphone that ATT has bought. In fact, the last decent phone of any variety that ATT got from Motorola was the RAZR.
Re: WHAT ANDROID PHONE FROM ATT WOULD YOU GET????
I concur. The Captivate and Aria are the 2 best android phones that ATT caries.
Re: Is there a way to still get Unlimited Data?
Unfortunately, the unlimited data plan has gone the way of the dodo bird. The only way that you can get the unlimited data for a smartphone is to be grandfathered in on it so that it can continue whith your new phone. Any new customers to ATT, or if you are upgrading from a standard phone into a smartphone, the most that you can get is the 2GB. If you do go over the 2GB cap, you pay $10 ...
Re: "I just wanted to report a crime!"
He never heard of 911? :?
Re: Because God help us if we were just responsible...
Customers can't seem to grasp the concept of the more you use, the more it costs you. I know that with ATT you can find out at any time how many minutes you have used and if you have gone over the minutes in the plan. And you can do this either on your phone or on line. Yet people seemed shocked that they have used so many minutes. Their response is something along the lines of "But I ...
Re: oh mr. or mrs. customer...
We all have a tendency to be mirrors. Give off nice, receive nice. Give off  , receive  . Common courtesy, just like common sense, is not very common any more.
Re: Iphone on Verizon- Thoughts
I would be happy to see the Iphone go onto Verizon's network. Then people who gripped about it not working on ATT's network would get to gripe that it doesn't work on Verizon's either. It would expose the phone for the POS it really is.
Re: Continue down the same path.
You say potatooo, I say potatah. You're right, the Iphone does not have the "Exception" upgrade. It is considered an early upgrade. However, I have found that when checking for an upgrade for a customer and it says that they can get an "early upgrade" for the Iphone, I can call activations and get approval for the Exception upgrade on any other phone. The one difference is that you cannot do 2 Exception upgrades in a row. For the ...
Coninue down the same path.
Att is continuing thier policy of introducing things through the Iphone, then trickling down to their other smart phones. First the required a $30 data package on the Iphone, then the company changed the policy on their other smart phones requiring the data package.
For the past couple of years, you could do an early (or exception) upgrade on the Iphone for $200 more than the regular 2-year price. That was still $200 less than the retail price of the ...
Re: Dismissing Health issues?
Then again, with the number of young people in this country who cannot do basic math, have poor grammar skills, and cannot spell, something must be causing it.
This law will last unti....
the mayor or a councilman's wife or teenage daughter cannot use thier cell phone. The mayor or councilman will get so much grief from home that the will work hard to get it repealed.
Re: Almost as good as
We get the same kind of conversation in the stores about phones. Customer will come in and say something along the lines of "I just need a simple phone. Something that I can just make and receive calls on. I don't text or use the internet." Then the next words out of their mouths are "Do you have the new Iphone?" or something along those lines.
