Iphone on Verizon- Thoughts

Sigma1570

So I work for an agent that sells at&t. What are your thoughts on what will happen once Verizon carries the iPhone(rumored early 2011 by WSJ and NY Times)? I know we don't make a lot of money on them but residual business could be effected dramatically. Do you think the impending windows 7 launch and growing android line up will make the loss of exclusivity negligible? And to anyone who sells verizon I hope your margins are better than ours on the iPhone.

idk think it will have to much effect on attt bceacuse vzw and att have the same picing almost so i jsut think there would be more iphones out there.but i think the new andriod phones are just as good as an iphone...so i think the only people who are gettin iphones just love apple.

I would have to say that atnt will lose at least 30% of thier customers that have the iphone cause from working at verizon the amopunt of people that come in asking for it would probaly equal that amount if you times it by the amount of stores. Sorry atnt but people that have iphones are drooling waiting on this product to come to verizon.

I really hate to tell all you people this but.. ATT will never let verzion or any other carrior have the iPhone, they are to dependent on it now. Att will give half of it's wireless stock to apple to keep the dam phone on Att only.. look I wish like hell verzion would get the iPhone but it is just not going to happen. I got a 500 dollar bet that the iPhone is not on verzion by the year 2013. sorry guys just trying to be a real here.

I don't think you live in the real world with thoughts like that. Do you not read news? Everything in the industry points to other carriers other than AT&T having the iPhone. It may not happen in 2010, 2011, or even 2012(when their contract runs out), but it will happen. Plus, just because some other carrier gets it, doesn't mean AT&T won't have it anymore. AT&T has been around forever. They will survive losing exclusivity of the iPhone.

I would be happy to see the Iphone go onto Verizon's network. Then people who gripped about it not working on ATT's network would get to gripe that it doesn't work on Verizon's either. It would expose the phone for the POS it really is.

You may be right. My girlfriend, some friends, and I are having the same odd problems with coverage on our iphones. Same town, of course, but different areas. Bars disappearing, coverage dropping out and reappearing. While the iphone is a lot of fun, the "phone" part leaves a lot to be desired. Time will tell if the CDMA version does any better.

Good Questions! Its hard to say...iPhone really changed what users want and expect from a cell phone. Android, BB Torch, and Windows 7 phones show a lot of promise and seem to be delivering this same *type* of multimedia experience that iPhone has been boasting since 2007.

Here's another few questions...

Is iPhone at its sales PEAK now with iPhone 4? since its the most feature packed phone Apple has released so far?

Or will the iPhone gain even MORE users/market with an LTE version? (iPhone 5 ??)

Are the shoppers asking about iPhone on Verizon using an iPhone on AT&T?

Or are they very late adopters who are still using an old LG Chocolate on Verizon?

I think most of the people asking about iPhone on Verizon are either people who love Verizon but want an iPhone or they are AT&T customers who love the iPhone, but want to leave AT&T.

Personally I don't care about the iPhone. I think there are better smartphones than it. However, without iPhone sales, AT&T would not have been in the black. Take away their exclusivity, and this also takes away some of their customer base. People now will have the option of using AT&T OR Verizon. It doesn't hurt Verizon, just AT&T. Now, combine that with the fact that the FCC just passed a law requiring that ALL phone must be made to be usable by ALL carriers really levels the playing field. All carriers will not be judged so much by the phones they have as much as they will be on their plans and customer service. This completely benifits the consumer. You have a Droid X and Verizon makes you mad, take it to AT&T

Personally, I think that will hurt AT&T even more than losing the iPhone. In the stores, AT&T has great customer service in most cases, but calling them, they are rude and uncaring. Got your money, got your contract, we don't care. I'll go to Cricket before I ever deal with AT&T again.
