Re: E815 lives again!!!
ebay. Plenty of e815 to be had. Cheap. Look at seller feedback rating, confirm clear ESN and physical and working condition of phone. $20 - $35 for a really nice e815. I know b/c I recently bought one to use as an extra battery charger and it turned out to be nice enough to activate the phone. My original e815 is now the battery charger. Best of luck.
E815 lives again!!!
After going through several gimmicky touchscreen phones, I recently reactivated my Motorola E815. Why? I remembered it was the BEST cell phone I've ever used. It had no business sitting in the drawer. I also bought an extended battery & oversized cover for it on ebay.
Re: texting on touch screen
Not that I know of. And you can't get a qwerty keyboard on the front screen for texting, either.
Re: ACTUALLY
Up until getting it in my hands in the Verizon store last week, I thought it was a touch screen device and I would be able to finesse it with light taps the way I do my LG Dare. I was not expecting the way it actually works. When the V rep handed it to me I started tapping and he said, no you have to Press. Was it widely known prior to release that the Storm is not ...
Re: Other big name phone launch mess ups
The "keyboard" on the one I played with in the store was off and the verizon rep could not figure out how to fix it. For example: I had my thumb aimed directly at the "D" but kept clicking the "F." It's like I needed to aim a bit left of the target letter. I assume there is a calibration process like a moving target that you touch the center of so the device will know how my thumbs ...
Re: Other big name phone launch mess ups
Is there a setting that turns off the annoying light that comes on UNDER my thumbs that makes sure I CAN'T tell which key (gigantic screen key) I am about pressing?
Re: Other big name phone launch mess ups
I played with the Storm in the store yesterday and was disappointed. I thought it had a touchscreen. Having to manipulate the little device in my hand in order to physically press the screen is uncomfortable and annoying. I could actually feel discomfort in my thumbs after playing with it for just a few minutes. RIM should have just put a high-quality touchscreen, ala the Dare, etc. in their new pride and joy. Instead, they've built a beautiful device ...
Re: Voyager Voice Quality
Turning the volume down helps some but outside or in noisy indoor environments you obviously won't be able to hear the caller. A plug-in headset-mic helps a lot with the clarity. I don't use Bluetooth but I imagine, depending on the quality of the bluetooth device, the sound would also be more clear.
"O Board Lord"
That's exactly what it thinks it is!

Re: maximum voyager usage?? 16h
I'm not Voyager-bashing there 99, but I definitely don't like the way the batt gague relates to batt life. It has 4 bars but one bar left might mean 25% life left, but if you are talking, that 25% is very little time. It must mean 25% standby left.
Does the extended battery fit into the LG10KHOLB which is the belt holster that the phone slides into from the side?
Re: maximum voyager usage?? 16h
I use mine a lot and with the regular battery, talk-time is a problem. If I am talking on the Voyager and notice one battery bar remaining, the conversation is going to end very soon and with little warning. I now have a mobile phone that needs to live on the charger. When I first looked at it and saw the little wafer-thin battery I wondered. Now I know. I am considering changing to the Dare or going back ...
Re: crackling speakers
w/ proabably do that. I notice the problem is mainly when talking mobile to mobile. Not as bad when talking to a land line. I don't like being reminded that mobile phones are radios but the crackling speaker is such a reminder.
crackling speakers
When using the speaker phone mode and getting a strong signal and talking to a caller with a strong voice, my Voyager speakers have a decided crackle to them. No matter how low I set the volume, the crackle is still there. It's like the signal is too strong for the speakers. Is this characteristic of Voyager or might something be wrong with my unit?
Re: qwerty keyboard on front screen
It would be a nice function to have. I have never liked using the alpha/numeric guessing game of scrolling through the letters and dealing with the phone auto-selecting letters if I don't move fast enough. Verizon should have thought of this. What's the process for submitting feedback to them and asking for this?
Re: qwerty keyboard on front screen
I see. Perhaps it will be made available for texting in a later update. If the on-screen qwerty is in there, it should be available when the user chooses to see it. I would like it for shooting replies without opening the phone to get to the hardware keyboard. Thanks for the info.
qwerty keyboard on front screen
I know I've seen some pictures of a voyager with a qwerty keyboard being accessed with the phone closed. How do I access that keyboard screen on mine to use for texting?
OEM swivel belt clip
Does Motorola make a Swivel Belt Clip for the E815?
Re: Security Code Help
If it is a four-digit number, you might just systematically, or by sheer luck, plug it in. For a four-digit number there are only :) 10,000 combinations, 0000-9999. If all attempts to get the code fail, I would try plugging in 100 combinations a day, starting with 0000 and up on day one, 9999 and down on day two, 0100 and up on day 3, 9899 and down on day 4, and so on. You could also marathon it ...
Re: SONY MUSIC BOX FINALLY .....
Sounded kind of interesting, but they lost my interest when I found that I need to have Real Player installed in order to listen to the website samples.
Re: Up in the Air about the 9900 - Need help
I recently used my 9900 speakerphone in my house with the phone laying in the den and me in another room some 20 or more feet away. All I did was speak with louder than normal voice and the party on the other end never missed a word. In fact they said they couldn't tell I had left the room. I could also hear them well. No hyperbole. It really works that well.
Re: why is this phone not sold @ corprite any more
It's only speculation but I think the 9900 was becoming "too hot" for Verizon, and demand for it was threatening to dwarf all the other phones. Companies like Verizon Wireless are going to make sure all of its lineup moves, and not just a few phones. They probably recaged the 9900 to cool it off.
I was at a Verizon kiosk at a Circuit City a few days ago and the woman there said she has a number ...
Re: HOW TO GET mp3's ON YOUR 9900 - TUTORIAL
Hmmmm, how do you know that is "some black" and not "some white" or "some other" who happens to have a talent for imitating vocal styles of various cultures? :?
Re: Repost but need help. What am I doing wrong? (mp3's)
The gumby tutorial is pretty clear: You have to reduce the bitrate and change the 30-second MP3 to mono. The gumby-suggested bitrate works perfectly. You are trying to get your phone to read a large file and that is probably what's stopping your show. Not sure about Mac, but the audio editing program suggested in the gumby tut' also works fine for the job.
Re: User Reviews...
The speakerphone on my 9900 seems to work fine from all angles. I have held it with the screen facing me, facing away or on side angles and I can hear, and be heard, loud and clear. I purchased a second belt clip, and rigged it onto he dash of my car, and clip the open phone onto it while driving and yack away. People I'm talking to say they hear every word perfectly and I can hear them ...
Re: Wanna hear a joke????
"Do you work for verizon by any chance?"
No.
Re: Wanna hear a joke????
To me it looks like a fairly professional and kind response. The way he describes the intended purpose of the camera phone is also the only way I have ever seen such phones advertised, i.e., for quick snapshots on the spur of the moment that can be quickly sent with the phone to other phones or email for viewing. I did not see where any comment told you how to use your phone. It just told you what the ...
Re: HOW TO GET mp3's ON YOUR 9900 - TUTORIAL
gumby, thanks for the tutorial. Normally I don't like messing with processes that require this kind of precision, but, since you spelled it all out.... I gave it a shot and it worked perfectly. Very useful info' you gave. Thanks again.
Re: Speakerphone Rig ....
I suspect your suggestion is how it is meant to work. If you twist the clip on the holster, it fully exposes holes in the holster that match up precisely with the speaker holes in the phone.
Re: 8900 vs. 9900
The 8910 is all-digital. Won't get a signal in analog areas. 9900 is tri-mode.
The 8910 has an STN screen. The 9900 has a large TFT screen and a small STN screen. TFT is the screen of choice. 9900 is web-ready, has a lot more built-in ringtones, etc.
