LG has a nice web site, here is the link to customer support http://www.lge.com/us/support/index.jsp. The issue here is that the phone was physically purchased at a Verizon store. Verizon is using Verizon employees to sell these devices, so to most people it would seem logical that the company that took the money during the sales transaction would be responsible for the product. This is pretty much standard in every industry, when an LG TV that you bought at an ...

I should have warned everyone not to buy a phone for 40 days after I signed a 2 year contract. I knew they were going to announce either a cool SE or Nokia phone not long after my 30 days were up.

If people bought phones directly from manufacturers there would be less turd phones circulating and less choice of phones. If phone manufacturers didn't provide good hardware and good service they wouldn't be around long. You would probably be able to enact some sort of lemon law if you returned your phone for defects too many times. Just like everything else it has good and bad. I still say that while the carriers restrict what phones you can use on ...

The telecom industry dealt with this issue years ago. If you have or had a "DSL" line in your home you most likely have a "ADSL" line which stands for 'Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line' this has a much larger portion of the bandwidth set aside for download than it does for upload. The real problem is not really the bandwidth it is the utilization of the bandwidth. Even if you are downloading video you are still not downloading 100% ...

Re: Why couldn't the ETF be...?

An ETF is for customer retention the same as "new every two" or a discount with contract renewal, it's just a negative reinforcement form of customer retention where the other 2 are positive reinforcement forms of customer retention. If this were truly to make up for the cost of anything then it would go down in equal increments each month and would be 1/24th with one month to go, and are we to believe that the cost of ...

As long as the carriers control what equipment is allowed to be sold on their networks you will always have unsatisfied customers that blame the phone carrier. I will be interested to see if Google’s new phone strategy works. It would be interesting to se the equipment and network decoupled at least to some extent. Then you can call people all kinds of names for breaking a contract. The only time I have ever gotten out of a contract ...

The last time I checked the decision to offer a subsidy on a phone or PDA as well as the decision to offer a buy one get one deal on a Blackberry device was completely up to the carrier making the offer. So Verizon made these offers and then got mad because some people were smart enough to take advantage of the offer to basically get their phone for free and now Verizon is increasing the ETF. Sounds like ...

that's actually how Verizon came to be, it was a merger of GTE and Bell Atlantic with some other smaller providers and investment dollars by Vodafone among others. Buying other companies to increase market share is an acceptable business practice, it's done in every industry and is usually a very efficient way to add customers. It is usually easier to keep customers than it is to add new customers because most consumers do not like change. So buying your ...

I think that AT&T phone selection has been very stagnant since they got the iPhone. I did buy an iPhone recently but I would much rather have one of the new Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones on the market right now. Losing exclusive rights to the iPhone is probably why they are planning on getting 5 Android phones and I think is was 3 or 4 Palm phones with the web OS. I would have passed up the iPhone ...

I do not work in the wireless industry but it seems for that kind of thing to be legal it would have to have been a clause in the contract you signed when you started with VZW. If there is nothing in your contract I'm sure T Mobile will ask of your employment history. So if you don't see any non-compete clause in your contract and t mobile doesn't care that you worked for VZW then I would say ...

Eventually it will all be packet (data) traffic voice channels are dedicated channels and take up more resources. packet or data traffic shares resources based on priority where voice is the highest priority becuase it's more noticeable if you drop packets. Data is lowest priority because if a packets get dropped you just request a resent so it takes your web site an extra few miliseconds to load. All of telecom, home, wireless, voice, video and data will ...

I was also a long time VZW customer that switched over and got an iPhone 3GS. I live in the Dallas area and you can get pretty much any carrier here and have good coverage, however I know that if I go to the boonies I will probably not have as good of a coverage on the AT&T network as I would with VZW. That being said, I generally do not go out into the boonies and yes the ...

I think I finally understand, people are trained to tell customers that the carriers are doing them a favor by subsidizing their phones. So now the customer is indebted to the carriers, anyone here every watch the godfather? So when the carrier restricts certain things the customer is supposed to be ok with it because “hey we did you a favor by paying for part of your phone”. So the consumer that knows that they do not pay “retail” ...

Re: About GPS & Garmin

That's right if carriers (VZW) were not allowed to block the GPS information transmitted from their web sites they would then allow consumers to make a choice on how they got their directions on their phones. We all know that consumers should not be allowed any choices while on the VZW network. This is one more example of how carriers restrict consumers and force them to use VZW pay services but don't tell that to an agent when you ...

That is a shame but unfortunately not very surprising. I've worked in Telecom for over 15 years on the vendor/carrier side. I don't think I could do retail sales. And I know everyone complains including me but it is a loss anytime someone who truly cares about their work gets pushed aside for doing the right thing for customers.

I must have missed a reference about the computer, if you mean sign in when I get to the store then I don't think the stores here have that anymore or they must only bring it out when they are busy. Unfortunatley the VZW store closest to where I live is in Plano TX. it must be where they send the problem agents because I've never actually bought a phone there. I go in to look and if I say I'm looking, which I always do no matter what I'm shopping for I see 6 agents standing there talking and no one will answer a question. OK, so VZW may get the iPhone and the Palm Pixi. I'm so incredibly unhappy with the phone I have now the Samsung Omnia that I've pretty much lost all loyalty to big red. Which is saying a lot since I was actually a GTE customer before there was a Verizon Wireless. Also the sales reps in every VZW store I have gone into lately seem too busy to help me but I have been seeing really good service ...

My wife has decided that she has to have an iPhone but nothing at AT&T really jumps out at me. I see where there are rumors of a few cool phones coming out soon. Is the business (or corporate or whatever it's called) and retail sales that disconnected? There are already commercials showing someone with the phone and projector attached. Seems like you guys should have some info as AT&T probably advertises so that people will come in and ask about the phone.

I may be wrong here but I don't think priority has anything to do with it. I believe the phone only supports the GSM frequencies for oveseas and not the frequencies that AT&T uses in the USA.

Almost anyone who provides a web portal such as your ISP or wireless company will put in routes to sites like speedtest.com that give this traffic a higher priority. If you want a true speed test find an FTP server and download a large file, a couple of Gigs or so, that will give you a much more accurate view of how fast your connection is.

Nokia E72????
Dec 2, 2009, 6:56 PM

What are the chances that AT&T will pick up the E72 anytime soon? My wife has decided that she wants an iPhone so it looks like we are switching to AT&T. My problem is that I had narrowed my preferences to the new BB Bold or the Nokia E71, and then I saw the E72 on Nokia’s web site. It pretty much ups all the hardware from the E71, processor, camera, touchpad, I think even more memory. But AT&T ...

What you’re doing there is called 'Salesmanship' you should travel around the country and give lessons to the other VZ reps. I've only ever seen one excited VZ Salesman and I was a return customer for him until he left the stores I visit and I lost track of him. I am usually just looking at phones also but the reason is that usually I don't get the feeling the person I am talking to has a clue as ...

I would disagree with your second point, Verizon restricts some apps from running on lots of phones. All Nokia phones should be able to run the PC suite for syncing contacts and calendar to your PC but VZW doesn't allow it, just one really annoying example. Until recently they also restricted Google maps from running on smart phones.
