BB Protect & New Data Plans
As most BB users know BB Protect can only be used with unlimited data plans. How will the new tiered plans affect BB Protect? Is it one more thing VZ is taking away?
BTW: I suppose I'm one of the VERY few people who don't need unlimited data. I use my BB as a phone - first and foremost - for email, texting, calendar, contacts and BB Messenger. I don't, and won't, stream video or music. I use the ...
Re: Any New BB's comin to Verizon
As usual, I have to agree with Chris. BlackBerry is second to none in the business arena with BES, BBM and data handling. I know they lack the "cool" factor and apps of Android and iPhone, but they work - which is what I want a phone to do. I don't stream video, watch TV or movies or use my BB as a GPS. For me it's a phone, email portal, calendar, contact manager and BBM device. It synchs ...
Re: BOLD Issues
Chris,
I have a Bold and I really like it. This is my 5th BlackBerry in the last 8 plus years and it does everything I need it to do, and more. Audio quality is excellent, signal strength excellent, messaging - it's a BlackBerry, do I need to say more? No one does messaging better than BlackBerry, in my opinion. The battery life is fine; I get 2 days from a charge and I'm a heavy user. I use my ...
Re: OS 6 upgrade to Bold -- fact or fiction
Did some quick Google searches and here's what I found.

Re: OS 6 upgrade to Bold -- fact or fiction
I got a Bold about 2 weeks ago and wasn't happy about it not having OS 6. I don't know if 6 will be available for the Bold, but I will be watching the replies to your post. If 6 won't be available for the Bold, mine goes back too. Other than that, I really like the phone.
Re: Verizon leases fiber from ATT, who knew.
If AT&T is the local phone company in your area the connection between your office and the AT&T central office (CO) is owned by them and VZ leases that from AT&T. At the CO your Internet traffic is put on the VZ network.
Re: Rumor-Verizon-working-on-IPHONE-ad-blitz-for-this-summer
There's an app for that.
Beating A Dead Horse
I know this has been discussed a thousand times but does anyone know when VZ will roll out the Bold/Tour 2/BB 9650? I know that Sprint has announced it for May and I've heard talk that VZ will also. My Curve is at the end of the line and I don't want to get a Tour 1 and then see a new device roll out 31 days later.
Thanks for your help.
Re: Yes, because t1 is as fast as people can get.
Can I show you a source that uses fiber to connect to the "Internet mainframe"? Yeah, my house. It's called FIOS - 25Mb of bandwidth up and down - end to end fiber. Every major market POP uses fiber to move traffic. Hosting centers use fiber. My office has an OC-3 (155Mb bandwidth on fiber) for Internet and data. I was in data network and telecomm engineering for over 9 years so I don't need Google to know what's ...
Re: Explanation - T1 lines
A T-1 has a throughput of 1.544Mb - 24 64Kb circuits. A DS-3 (T-3) has a throughput of 45Mb. DS-3 circuits are much more efficient than T-1 in handling high bandwidth traffic. A T-1 does NOT provide 100Mb throughput.
Learn a little about telecomm technology before you post something.

I guess you've been a loyal Verizon and Sprint customer and got tired of carrying two Blackberries.

Sending Picture Mail with Sprint
by DSFB407 Jul 26, 2008, 8:34 AM
I just got my Blackberry Curve with sprint via a upgrade the other day and I was wanting to send a picture to my friend. I went to the pictures and then scrolled down the menu it said nothing about sending a picture to a contact, I ...
Re: Well....
On January 18th you wrote a review of your phone and you stated that after resolving some issues you liked it. This was before you and your fiancee broke up because you say in the review that he also likes the phone but hates VZW. In several of your posts and in various forums you point out that although you're a VZW customer, you work for AT&T.
Now, less than a month after your review, you say you've ...
Re: Ignore Unknown/Blocked calls ????
So if, God forbid, a loved one is rushed to the hospital and they try to call you you'll miss the "unknown" call. You might want to think this one through a little better.
Re: HELP!- BB Curve Email Question
You're welcome "Tree". If you use your vzw.blackberry.net account you will get email immediately, and it seems alee gets email right away using GMail. I use an ISP, like you, and there is usually a delay. However, as I was reading your post I actually got an email on my Curve before it hit my Outlook inbox. Like everything else in life timing is everything.
Re: HELP!- BB Curve Email Question
Typically it can take up to 15 or 20 minutes for email to hit a BlackBerry after it is received by your ISP. The reason is that BlackBerry Internet Service pushes email about every 15-20 minutes. If you were on an Enterprise Server it would be almost immediate. When you send email from your BlackBerry it is sent right away; except for the usual lag due to network congestion. In short, there isn't anything wrong with your device and ...

Re: Droid Reviews. Ouch~!
Beach is an AT&T fanchick and always tries to fire up the VZ forum. She's taking a shot at the Storm 2 and the Droid in one post. Just ignore her.
Re: Droid Questions
Like the iPhone? BUY ONE.
Re: "The Network" is DOWN!
VZW probably took down parts of the network intentionally just to get that AT&T 3G network feel. More bars in more places: what AT&T would like to see so their customers can have a drink or two while they wait for 3G service.
My BB service was great, as usual, here in Philadelphia. I did notice a slow down last night that lasted no more than 15 mins, and that could have been due to our in-house Exchange Server.

Re: Alltel
Read the earnings report - 1.1 million net adds, all retail, LESS acquisitions and adjustments. So Alltel customers aren't reflected as net adds.
•87.7 million total customers, up 27.7 percent; 85.2 million retail customers, up 27.8 percent; 1.1 million net customer additions, excluding acquisitions and adjustments, all retail.

Re: Dummy Unit now in the VZW system
I hear ya, Chris. For now I'm passing on the Tour - despite great temptation. My Curve works great, so I decided to stay on the sidelines until the Storm 2 comes out.
Re: Fresh Hi-Res BB Tour Unboxing Pics!
I was having a nice calm day until I saw your post, Chris. I'll be there at 7 AM too.
Re: Fun Story
Before you respond to a post it's wise to make sure you understand it. I said I have a work issued AT&T BB and a personal BB from VZW. Due to all of the problems we've had with AT&T we are switching to VZ. I didn't say I have two work issued phones. Also, voice problems - poor quality and dropped calls, etc - are legendary with AT&T. I hope this clears up things for you.
Re: Fun Story
While AT&T is busy adding capacity so it can catch up to Verizon's network performance do you honestly think VZ is going to sit around and not expand its own network? I have a work issued BB on AT&T and a personal BB with VZ. Most of the time I have to use my personal phone because the AT&T Berry won't complete a call. When it does work I'm usually treated to the wonderful sound of my caller's digitally ...
Re: GUESS AGAIN SON!
Once again, or is it always, I agree with Chris. Sprint is on life support and now they have an exclusive on a phone from a company that most of us thought was dead. However, there is no ME in iPhone. I just want to replace my Curve, so bring me the Berries - and soon, please.
Re: First Pics of the Blackberry Storm 2
Had my sights set on the Tour (Niagara) as a replacement for my Curve but after seeing this I might have to wait it out. Thanks, Chirs.
Re: BlackBerry OS and Desktop V 4.5
Very strange. I downloaded 4.5 Desktop and Device software from the VZW website on Friday. It's installed on my computers and my Curve and works fine.
I did have to call support for a quick question and the tech I spoke with wasn't aware of 4.5 being out yet. He said no one told them and they haven't been trained on it yet. He transferred me to RIM for an answer. Something tells me they might have found a ...
BlackBerry OS and Desktop V 4.5
BlackBerry Desktop Manager and Device OS Version 4.5 is now available for download on the VZW website. Click on Support and follow the directions.
BACK UP YOUR BLACKBERRY BEFORE YOU UPGRADE.
Enjoy!
Re: BB Curve 4.5
Be careful here. I work with several people who downloaded 4.5 from the BlackBerry website and they now have Curve paperweights - the software hosed the phone. VZW Tech Support said there's nothing they can do because they installed unsupported/untested software - even if it came from BlackBerry.
Best thing to do is wait. It won't be long. We have over 400 BlackBerry devices in my organization and the government rep assigned to our acct said the SW will ...
Re: WIll it tell you when a msg IS NOT delivered
On my Curve just the D is gone, Chris. I still have a check mark. Now I wonder if that's on the way out too! And I agree with you - I'll pay for services but I don't like paying the same for less features.
Re: i miss the CHECK MARKS
Ok. I can live without the D. But I agree with Chris; there has to be notification if a txt fails to go through. What I won't accept is if they do away with the ability to send and receive Read receipts on emails.
Re: i miss the CHECK MARKS
I called Tech Support and they gave me the half assed story that they're removing it market by market due to CUSTOMER REQUEST. He specifically said the East Network Market, which I am in, had the D removed. The tech told me that customers complained about it. Seems to me that you buy a BlackBerry to have better control of your messaging and the D is a control tool. I told him I wasn't buying that story for a ...
Re: i miss the CHECK MARKS
I noticed this yesterday and I don't like it either. I thought there was something wrong with my BB and was going to call Tech Support today.
Re: moto razr question
As dumb as it sounds check your settings to make sure you didn't turn off the keyboard light. If it's on, then you need to send the phone in for repair. Try your carrier first. Maybe they'll do a warranty exchange. If not, it has to go back to Moto.
Re: Changing ringtones for Texts
Yep. Go to Profiles then Advanced. Select the profile you want to edit then select the task - text, sms, phone, etc - that you want to assign a ringer to and make your changes.
Once again, the BlackBerry website has the instruction manual available for download - and it's free just for you!
Enjoy!
Re: Tasks/Notes?
You can record voice notes or you can enter text notes. Make sure all of your icons are unhidden. Press the Menu key and the Shift key and click on Show All. Look for an icon called Memo Pad - that's your "To Do" list for text notes. Also look for the Voice Notes Recorder icon - that lets you record notes.
You can also browse to the BlackBerry website and download the instruction manual for the Curve and ...

Re: getting e mail from server
I didn't mention Outlook Web Access because most companies are now using RSA Tokens or some other authentication service to log onto to OWA. Since the 6 digit code on RSA tokens and similar security devices changes every minute or two, you're still going to be locked out. If you do use Outlook Web Access with a security token, you might as well use the browser to go to OWA and log in as though you were using a ...
