Verizon leases fiber from ATT, who knew.
I'm sure this is common across the cellular board.
But today internet went down at work (provided by Verizon). Siad it was a major outage in the area, a cut fiber optic.
Next message said it was owned bt ATT and that splices were on the way.
Like I said, who knew. 😳

...but every telecom company shares backhaul with everyone else (with fees of some sort). It's rarely worthwhile for two companies to lay fiber lines over the same stretch of land when you could just lay down one bundle of cable and lay out way more capacity then you could imagine needing in the next 2 years. Then of course, you find yourself overloaded in six months because Google TV launches and consumption soars.
You see this even more in cellular, particularly with Sprint and T-mobile because they lack their own fiber footprints in most markets they serve.
