OS 6 upgrade to Bold -- fact or fiction

This past Saturday my wife and I took advantage of their 2-for-1 deal, and each upgraded to a Bold. The rep said they already had 6.0 on them, which I thought would be a stretch. Sure enough, they had OS 5. Talking to a service technician on the phone about an email problem, I asked when I would be able to upgrade to 6. She said it would not be possible at anytime on my new phone. If this is indeed true, I'm taking back both of the phones. Anyone know anything different about the upgrade to OS 6.0?

I got a Bold about 2 weeks ago and wasn't happy about it not having OS 6. I don't know if 6 will be available for the Bold, but I will be watching the replies to your post. If 6 won't be available for the Bold, mine goes back too. Other than that, I really like the phone.

I recall having read that BlackBerry announced that OS 6 will be available for the Bold 9650. I assume that Verizon will not stand in the way of that. As a side note, though, I am very happy with OS 5 and wonder whether OS 6 might be a little too "busy" for my taste. We will see.

I have been told by the blackberry trainer for this region (not just the marketing company, actual blackberry employee) that the Bold WILL upgrade to 6.

TX, thanks for the note. Respectfully, however, a RIM employee can't speak for Verizon, whom it would appear have quite their own agenda.

While they can't speak for them rim has been pretty consistent in the past about which phones would be able to upgrade.

6.0 is not yet released for the Bold. Any Blackberry with 512 mb of ram can be upgraded to 6.0. Any device without 512 mb of ram (e.g., Storm 2) will not be upgradable to 6.0.

And this is right from RIM and I go to special vendor trainings all the time.

Hope this helps.
