Not another ipod. The phone itself is a basic moto not a cool phone with gadgets or anything new or different. The music takes up alot of mem from the exp mem stick and not only that its a hard mem stick to find not like sony ericsson's mem stick duo. SO ENJOY THE IPOD uhh i mean phone.

iTunes + cingular

Sep 14, 2005 by bigmoneymike

I have had many phones over the years as I am a big gadget/tech geek and I have always liked Motorola products.

PROS:
Awesome RF (West Los Angeles / South Bay area)
Light weight
Awesome battery life
Surprisingly good built in speakers
Good bundle from Cingular w/ accessories (especially 512MB TransFlash card!)
Better than average non mega-pixel camera
i-Tunes baby! the sound quality is surprisingly good.
Video capture
Non crippled bluetooth & MP3 ring tones

CONS: Really, really slow to transfer songs as it uses USB 1.1
(I bet they fix this with one of the two new models launching for Christmas, they are confirmed.)

Thats it! If it had mega pixel & USB 2.0 It would be a 5.0!

Greatest Motorola Phone I've Ever Owned!

Sep 18, 2005 by Etorres777

This phone is indeed the best phone I've ever owned. Cingular did send me the phone with the brace that holds the SIM card in broken off, so they're sending me another anyway. Regardless of that, this phone absolutely has the BEST RF out of any phone I've ever used! This phone is fantastic! I live in a low signal area and all the other phones I would drop a call, this one will not drop the call at all!

Pro's
-Greatest RF out of any phone.
-iTunes software a whole lot better than what was on the e398
-Transfer not horribly slow, it's pretty good.
-Screen quality absolutely great.
-Doesn't lag like the e398.
-Ringers nice and loud
-Overall, the greatest phone ever!

Con's
-NONE

upgrade your e398 to i398

Sep 20, 2005 by chris_i398

I was hoping for more given Motorola's CEO promised "the best music phone in the business" This is just an e398 with 1 more button. For all you owners of an e398 that are familiar with firmware flashing, you can upgrade your phone to a ROKR. I have been running itunes and video capability for almost 2 months now. The flash will also give you quad band gsm, airplane mode for mp3 playback, and better bluetooth connectivity, and eliminate "lagging". Not to mention you can buy an e398 on ebay for under 175$US including shipping.

Another motorola phone

Sep 18, 2005 by SiDeKiCk 2

The rokr is a okay phone. Why? it's just like a regular motorola with the same problems like the ringer isn't loud or the reception isn't good. The rokr is not good for downloading songs. I tried to download one and it messed up my phone. It would'nt play and some of the songs were getting cut of for no reason it's not like i'm playing a CD that's messed up. I downloaded a song from napster and i paid 2.45 and when i downloaded on the phone it cut of and when played on my ipod it was working fine i mean the song did'nt get cut off or anything like that. The phone has bad camera quality like most motorola phone but beside that the feature are good. The phone sort of reminds of the Sony Ericsson t610 that phone freezes for no reason. Besided those problems the rokr is a good phone but they should try to upgrade like they upgraded the v300 and made the new v330

ROKR = E398

Sep 13, 2005 by GlobalWireless

Indeed this is a great phone, this phone is exactly the E398 except that the rokr contains iTunes, besides all that its pretty decent. I currently have the E398 and for you guys who want a bigger memory stick, the cheapest and probably only places you would find it is on eBay. I currently amped myself up to 1 GB and man.. you could do a lot with a one gig. Well.. i hope i helped on one of the con's... OVERALL.. OUTSTANDING PHONE.

Steve Jobs should take over as the head coach for the Jets

Sep 12, 2005 by BEEPAMERICA

Bottom Line:
I work for a cell phone warehouse... I don't think I've heard better sound come from a cell phone. Other than the speakers and standard camera, the E1 is an updated C350, except twice the size.

With the release of the E1 ROKR, and that new iPod Nano, Apple is once again reminding us they are the leaders of style.

I saw commercials for the ROKR and the NANO for the first time during the first Jets game of the season where they lost 27-7. I thought to myself... The Jets are like the ROKR, expensive, shiney and look good on paper, but do not pack the punch they should be.

PRETTY SWEET PHONE MUST HAVE

Sep 11, 2005 by hucworld

This phone is freakin' sweet! For someone who has always wanted to purchase an ipod this is the best of both worlds. I purchased this phone this morning and have been playing with it every since. Of course there are alot of people out there that complain about it only storing 100 songs but come on its a phone first remember that! The phone is must smaller than I had mentally visualized but hey its a great tool. Motorola has never let me down before and I see that they havent this time either.

The ROKR as a Phone

May 13, 2006 by sangyup81

With all the features out there on phones, we're starting to see them being reviewed differently.

I manage a Cingular Dealer and after playing around with all the phones I went with this one.

---------------------------------------------

Pros:

Awesome RF. It's up there with the s710, w600i, and the classic Nokias.

I can play my iTunes songs now. yay!

Best value of all the music phones. Can't beat the price!

Can change memory cards (w600 can't)

When a song has bass, you can hear it and it makes the whole phone vibrate.

Has bluetooth

Camera has flash

Airplane mode is useful.

Cons:

Screen got scratched up easily.

Bluetooth keeps reporting a weak signal and then I can't use my bluetooth for 10 seconds. This is with my phone in my pocket. It might be my HS850 though.

Would like to see USB 2.0 in the next version.

It would be nice if a 1GB microSD would come out.

---------------------------------------------

I give it a 5.0 because I live in a basement with weak signal. I used to have an Audiovox SMT5600 and a Samsung x427m and this phone solved my reception problem. The iTunes and Camera are just bonuses.
