Great phone for the non picky

Dec 3, 2005 by canadiankid

When i first heard about the rokr n it having i tunes i was really interested in it. I was thinking about buying it, but i decided to read some reviews first. They all said the same thing. "Transfering is so slow" "Camera sux" and so on. This kinda turned me away from it. So i decided to go in to the store n try it out. I loved it.

Yes the transfering is a little slow but while its tansfering do sumthing else. Also everyone said the camera is terrible. Its not the best but what can u expect from a camera on a phone. With the camera i can still get fairly good pictures in good light.

Also it does perform a little slower when you are using itunes and want to try to do somehting else like write a text message. But thats not a big deal for me b/c i just exit itunes and then do my other task. The lights on the side are amazing. You can set them to blink to different patterns and to react to sounds. The speakers on the sides are pretty good quality as well.

Pros:
-i-tunes is awsome
-the lights and speakers are fantastic and very clear.
-sound quality
-ringtune voolumes are good
-vib is noticable
-the menu is very easy to navigate and use
-screen is nice and bright
-light weight and the battery last a while
-not bukly or to small
- the built in games are pretty good
- many more awsome features

Cons:
-the cmaera isn't the best, but u can be to picky
-slow transfer but just keep yourself busy while transfering
-it is alittle slower when listening to i-tunes but not a big deal

overall this phone is great an i would recomend it to others. You can't be to picky about it either.

Problems!!!

Nov 19, 2005 by ankh

I can't mention where I work, but I can say that I have had NOTHING but trouble out of this device! Every person I have talked to has not been able to properly connect the device with their computer, and the manual has all of 1, count 'em, 1 page dedicated to the hookup and transfer process!

Not worth it...
I know that one day everything will be in one device, but this was a bit too premature!

For the storage capacity, go buy a $20 mp3 player at Wal-Mart!

Very nice phone

The phone DOES restart the MP3 after a call. I am not a big a fan of moto's but the roker is a sweet phone. Good RF the iTunes is fussy on macks if you are running OS 10.2 Not 10.3, ya that sucks but on a PC it works great! The screen and the overall feel of the phone is very nice! Now the price is down to $150 VERY worth it! But I got for $80 (emp. discount)!

So bad!

How can anyone say that the battery life is good. It's below 200 hours and competitors like the Sony Ericsson W800i gives you more than 300 hours. The phone is so slow compared to the competition. The ROKR is a STNKR!

Why doesn't it play all the music I put on it?

The phone is a great phone Motorola actually made a decent piece of equipment for once. My biggest problem is that not all of the music i want to put on this phone will load and play. I have yet to figure it out. The camera is a better than standard non-pixel camera, and the video qualtity is not all that bad. I guess my problem is that if you buy a phone for $250.00 than it should play every single song you have in your archive. On the end note it really proves that if the masses want it then the masses will get it.

its pretty cool

i have owned a few motorolas and this is one of the better ones.
at first I found it very confuseing to transger music to the phone, but after 2 support calls to motorola i got it figured out.
Pros:
nice large color screen
i tunes
great bluetooth sync.
100 songs on your phone is great; its nit a i pod, but for me 100 songs is plenty.
sound quality is awsome, not very loud but the 3d streo is really great.
camera/video is decent,..dont expect 5 mega pixil pics

cons:
only a few ring tones that are extremely ANNOYING
i tunes is a little slow
it takes forever to transfer music, close to 2 1/2 minutes a song!
cant use music as ring tones

its basically a v551 w/ i tunes

very good phone

PROS :
-Speaker phone - my friend couldnt even tell i was on speakerphone
-Itunes - nice program to organize songs on
-Speaker for music - surround sound and soun is very clear and loud.
- lights show

CONS :
-USB speed slow...but its not horribly bad
-menu speed...but its not horribly slow, it wont kill you

Overall this is a very good phone...many people say the 100 song limit is bad but its pretty good for a cell phone. Motorolas have good speakerphones. I would recomend this phone to anybody.

I like it

Oct 13, 2005 by Cokeman

I have been using this phone for a little over 2 weeks now and it is a very solid phone. The reception is just amazing, my v551 and my friends V3 don't get the signal strength this phone gets. The speakers make mp3 ringtones worth having on a cell phone. This phone just feels like it was made for my hands. I like flip phones but they all feel awkward to me during conversations.

The price I think is a good deal, 250 for the phone with 512mb memory card, headphones, usb data cable, and charger.

There is 1 thing I noticed within hours after buying this phone, There is no voice dial function for the handset it only supports voice dial with a compatible headset, I called motorola and asked about this. To me this was just stupid. So I decided to either fix the phone or I would return it. I now have voice dial on my phone.
The iTunes part is cool. I like being able to hide it while playing music, but the 100 song limit bothered me (which we can blame Apple for) so now I have that fixed as well, right now I have 2 playlist each with 100 songs.

After fixing these 2 issues, I have never enjoyed any other cell phone as much as I do the Rokr.

I gave this a 4.5 rating cause motorola and apple should have not limited the phone to 100 songs and the voice dial feature should have been standard, yes I have fixed these but not everybody can or will be able to do this.

Best Cingular Out now next to razr

Oct 9, 2005 by Nickqblue

This phone is the best out there for cingular. the only thing it needs is a mega-pixel camera.

Pros- best speaker for cingular out there.
- stores 100 songs. You could even store your pics and ringers on the transflash card ( which means less songs though)
- Great VGA camera with flash.
- Best reception for a Motorola.
- it took me no more than 2 hours to download 93 songs with a phone line modem. Plug it in at 9:00 pm and its ready by morning.

Con- The only con i see is the high price. You can get a ipod for its price.

I'm a sprint and nextel lover but everyone in family has cingular. (Free Mobile to mobile)
I've had the crappy v220 and v551 and sony ericon. this is the best phone by far. its a tie between this one and the razr phone.

Great Phone, alittle expensive

Oct 8, 2005 by bellamia

I have had this phone for about a week now, not that long, but long enough to tell if the basics work. Overall it is a good phone. I previously had the LG C2000. It was awful. I returned it 3times and the last time I bucked-up for the Rokr. My husband has the Razor - in which he loves. Unfortunately he can't put down my new Rokr :)

Pros:
-Great reception - I work in a hospital and even get reception in the elevators.
- Great call quality - every call is clear, no background static or hum
- Great speaker phone - no one can tell I am on the speaker phone vs ear-piece
- No dropped calls
- Easy to navigate!- I love the 5-way joystick!
- Lots of fun options - having the itunes on the phone is just fun at your fingertips (I never forget my cell phone, but often forget my iPod mini)
- Smaller than expected
- Great battery life
- Better quality pics than the LG C2000
- Totally cool neon for the rhythm lights!
- Quick menu options - no lag time
- Music stops and restarts automatically when I receive a call.

Cons:
- Can't use iTunes as ringtones - stupid!
- Can have multiple numbers for one person but they show up separately in the address book vs having multiple numbers and picking the primary one to show up in the address book
- I have to restart my phone in order to receive my picture messages - maybe something I am doing wrong, we will see
- Not fully bluetooth enabled
- The ability to create your own ring tones is cool - if you have perfect pitch
- Similar OS as the Razor but with a lot more options - a con if you don't like the Razor
- Cingular service at store locations is very poor. They don't seem to follow the same rules as Cingular Customer service (over the phone service - which is fabulous and very helpful)
