ITS AAAAAAIIGHT.....

Dec 3, 2004 by mr_gian

Com'on People its a CELL PHONE!U are not going 2 expect a lot,(maybe in a few months or so- if you had an old phone (I'm talking about 3+ years old) you will find this phone super great-I mean "Camera Player" all of these features are COOL,but u have to give [it]time, even if someday there is a "perfect" phone there is always something wrong with it(So much for perfect).

Verizon was very smart to introduce this phone, eventhough it does not offer the full details and/or the capabilities(to use get it now -pix) with this phone and its transflash memory card u could have more memory for everything, something that no phone that I know, have. And thats the reason y I bought it,for the memory(128mb! Transflash).

PROS: mmm...
Vid and Pic Camera,Bluetooth Technology,Graphics,Transflash Mem. Card up to 128mb!,light for camera, battery life..its mm OK.Xtra Features(some that not normally we see):Alarm clock,Outer LCD theme, voice record. Finally, now people came out with accessories to customize your phone if you don't like the keypad, housing, case, etc.(yet a bit $ though)

CONS: mm..hm...
Can only video record up to 15 sec (a bit more with Memory card). Its a very sensible camera so be careful specially the pic camera,Bluetooth--hahaha blame Verizon for that but I like the wireless bluetooth headset(HS820),but trasnferring files via Bluetooth I think someone came with the crack already...(don't ask me-I heard and read it in a site).Light for camera its not an automatic flash,You have to actually turn it on so night pics/video are not that good, the video and pics come out a bit dark.
CN
Its a nice phone,a nice Christmas present maybe not for U, but for someone else :)~ IMPORTANT!U could have some problems with your phone if U try the Verizon Wireless- happened 2 me) I sended a pic from the website to my phone (they dont specify the size to send)so I sended it and since then I can't save pics in my phone or Memory Card.I tried to resolve the prob. but U know about Cust.Serv.

Run from this Phone and Verizon's poor Customer Support!

Nov 25, 2004 by Showman

I bought this phone in July from Radio Shack (RS). The main reason was to pair with my Acura TL. Poor reception, dropped calls, static, poor Bluetooth abilities, does not work on incoming calls in my TL.
Communicated with RS, Moto and VZ. all three told me it was Acura. Acura refers me to Handsfree Link, Verizon never gave them the phone for testing before moving this to production. (This is done with all other wireless companies). RS exchanged the phone in Sept. Oct. I find that it is not the car but the phone. VZ bluntly told me it is my problem discuss it with RS. RS said discuss it with Moto. Moto states that they know there is a problem with the Bluetooth but do not know how to distribute the fix. No one will refund me the price of the phone that I bought outright and paid in excess of $400, because it is now over 30 days old. I travel nationwide and have the same reception problems in all parts of the country. My Qualcom from 1997 and My Nokia from 2001 perform better then this phone.

Poor picture abilities, can't transfer files form phone to my laptop using Blutooth as VZ disabled this.

I will right off the phone and have my company switch me to Cingular.

What ever happened to the old American value of making the customer happy, oh yeah, they outsourced that one.

v710 not worth the hype

Nov 20, 2004 by HarryB

So what if its tri-mode. The phone is unfortunatley the worst blue tooth phone I have ever encountered..if you want a good shouldnt it come with good solid keys ? let me explain each problem with the 710

1- Motorolas in general have 1 consistant problem. The plug in ports are by far the worst. So 2 years from now if you have a 710 or a v60 or other motorolas Your phone book transfers might not go through. Ports are the first thing to go in this particular phone especially if you use cigarete lighter adapters.
2- Key pad will break down in less then a year. Especially if you are a avid phone user, if you dont have some sort of protection your phone is a blue tooth piece of garbage. Note the keypad looks stupid as it is.
3- Camera disfunctions. Dont be surprised if the phone gets recalled this year.
4- Bluetooth, wonderful..the car kit is over 200 dollars..is it worth it ?
5- Not the best speaker phone in verizon.
6- Motorola software is notorious for glitches.

Does not pair with BMW (E60 at least)

Nov 10, 2004 by dpilati

PROs
Loud ringer
Great reception
Voice dialing of numbers

CONs
Crippled bluetooth
Will not pair with bluetooth on BMW 5-series (the reason I bought it)
Big and bulky

I returned the phone and am paying to get out of my verizon contract because of this phone. We wait way too long for a bluetooth phone and this is what is delivered.

Vote with your wallets and let Verizon know what you think of "disabling" features that are in lesser phones.

The phone will sell 'cause its from Verizon

Oct 25, 2004 by Steve143

Lets get to the point ! The Pros are:

1- Best reception in any cell phone made today! You'll never drop a call.
2- Crystal clear internal display
3- Huge internal display
4- Great BlueTooth headset option
5- Voice commands are MOTO
6- Good picture I.D.s
7- Good Pics in the daylight
8- Easy navigation
9- Alarm is cool

Hers the REAL BAD NEWZZZZZ :

1- The phone is not attractive.
2- Did I say the phone is ugly?
3- External display was designed 7 minutes before Verizon released this phone to Radio Shack. So bad and unattractive !
4- The phone gets dirty n scratches to easy both on the outside and inside of the phone.
5- Camera is so so. Video is better.
6- Speakerphone is a joke! Design it like a Nextel and it would be great.
7- Speaker phone doesnt work with the flip closed which is a major dissapointment!
8- Volume is way to low. ( I shouldnt have to tweak it myself )
9- Charging issues. Unable to charge sometimes??? The charging mechanism sucks royally.
10- Sometimes the phone freezes and locks up !
Reboot will resolve it. This software issue is worse than windows 95
11- Testing of software and hardware did not take place for this phone!
12- The internal display dissappears.
13- Some Bluetooth options arent present !!!
14- Battery life is so so.
15- The number display is lit white and is not very bright. Could be brighter inside.
16- The phone dont feel strong. It feels like a Chevy Cavalier doing 95 mph on Interstate 80
17- Owners manual- I got more info on Phonescoop than this 4th grade manual! Cheesy!
18- Sometimes when yo have a ringer I.D. set to a certain MP3 or midi, the default ring will ring. ( Software issues again )
19- Ill stop at 19 'cause the average age of a soldier in Vietnam was 19. Support our Troops!

Verizon has great cellular service but the phones just plain out suck. I just switched to Nextel. I was with Verizon since they started but it seems they dont care about us. One customer leaving means another one is around the corner. Out

Good phone.. but it's too freakin big...

I lost my VX4400.. so I needed a replacement.

decided on the v710.. wanted a tri-mode
phone and bluetooth - this fit the bill.

I've had it for a week and it's been
pretty good. however, I think I'm going
to return it.. i can't get used to the size..
especially since I carry my cell phone in
my pocket. Like lugging around a brick.

one thing to note about the bluetooth -
I saw in some reviews before people claiming
it only can be used for headsets and thats
it. Not true. I've sync'd it with my Dell
Axim PDA and was able to browse the net,
check email, etc.. the BT is crippled for
copying files and what not but you can use
it as a modem via BT.

pros:
screen - crisp and clear.
reception - very good
speaker phone - very good - people can hear me quite clearly and it's not bad on my side.
voice dial - works very well, both name and digit recognition.

cons:
size - thing is a monster
camera - worst camera i've seen on a phone.
not a single pic has come out decent.
headset plug is a pita to get out.

if the size of a phone isn't an issue for you, the v710 is a good all around phone.

Awesome phone

Oct 11, 2004 by ogmare

i had this phone since it first came out and i just got my radio shack rebate. i love this phone. the pics is not as sharp as expected. what can u expect from a cellphone. the best of the best. i love videophone feature and color big screen. overall verizon service. the bluetooth need to be corrected. give verizon a break its there first bluetooth phone. i am sure there will be other great cellphones out there. technology is changing adding new features. overall i love this phone with all the features. my last phone was 3 years ago the first verizon v60. the heavy clamshell its still work as my second spare cellphone. i drop it so many times and it still work. this one is fragile one. i hope this will last as long as my old v60.

another motorola gem....haha

Oct 6, 2004 by modaddy

As an employee of a major cellular carrier I can tell you hands down ANY Motorola product is sub-par. I have been selling phones for 11 years and moto has continually gone down hill. Their old analog phns were the best available...but since digital technology was launched..they have slipped far behind other competitors not only in technology but in thier quality....ask anyone that has owned a t720.. or t730..or a startac...known around here as the star crap..they do not use qualcomm chips in the phones...which explains why they drop more calls than any other models we sell...thier q.c. sucks....we get back at least 30% of these 710's for bad displays alone...not to mention bad cameras, keypads and..dropped calls and reception issues. DON'T blame your carrier for these problems..( unless you have nextel..whose whole system is motorola )
if you want reliability in a flip go LG ...if you want a non flip...kyocera are the most reliable ( flip or non ).....

VZW Employee Disappointed

Sep 27, 2004 by Senecatoy

As a Verizon employee I was excited to here we finally got it and now that we have it, it has only been so so. BAD THINGS: There appears to be a flaw in the phonebook that forces the phone to freeze on occasion. You can not delete the pics or songs that come on the phone which uses precious memory. You can only save one ringer on the phone without using the memory card. Although it's not Motorola's fault, Verizon requested that some of the Bluetooth features be turned off, big disappointment. Zoom is worthless on camera but regular resolution and video are good. Good Things: It's about time some one had expanded memory, can't wait for bigger cards to come out. Motorola does make the best speaker phones and this continues the tradition. The speach recognition software is very good for first generation. Overall call quality and call reception has improved over previous moto's made in china. I'd wait for a price drop before buying again, but still not a bad phone to own.
