Inbox/Outbox & Text Issues w/ 8600

Couple questions for all of you:

1) Anyone have a problem when receiving a text message...you get a big Box with an X in it that blocks out some of the text in the message? I thought it was a pic msg erroring, but it's happened when someone didn't even send a pic to me.

2) Why is the inbox/outbox so small; it holds very little! ALSO - I have "auto erase" set to ON, and it deletes the oldest TEXT message; not the oldest message (text/pix/vid). Like I have a bunch of pic/vid messages from November in my boxes, since it won't auto erase those.

Anyone else having these issues? If so, any fixes?

microSD card removal?

I bought a microSD memory card that can be converted into a regular SD card to use in other devices. Anyway, I inserted it into my 8600 and was just wondering if it's possible to remove it. I know I can transfer data through the cable I have, but it's nice to know that I can remove it if I want to. Please, anyone, if you can help me that would be wonderful!

Question about scratches

I just got this phone as a gift and I am wondering if the phone casing scratches easily. The phone is so pretty that I don't want to cover it up with a case or stickers...so far I still have the manufacturer's stickers on the outside. I am not so concerned about fingerprints, but I have a 1st generation iPod nano that looks terrible because it is covered in scratches...seems to be the same material as this phone. Thanks for your help!

Charging - Easy question!

Ok so I am debating between the 8300 and the 8600. I like the idea of the new slick phone but am a bit wary of the durability of the 8600. However I have heard that you can't talk and charge at the same time. This would be a make or break issue. I often realize I am out of battery while on the phone and plug it in while talking. If all those who own the phone could let me know I'd really appreciate it. Also any feedback on durability would be a bonus! 😁

Getting the Chocolate wallpapers to the 8600

So Im really interested in getting the 8600 for an alternate line (vzw employee secondary line $5.00 !!! ).

Anyway, really like the wallpapers and display themes that come on the chocolates (white especially - not sure if they are different). Is there anyway to get those hacked over to the 8600? BitPim?

How do you activate/deactivate the phone? PLZ HELP!

Hi! 🙂
I'm currently using VX8500 (slider Chocolate) and my mom will buy this phone sometime.
If my mom and I want to trade (switch) the phones (only the devices, not the numbers), how do I do it?
I don't feel like paying $40 each time the store activates for phones for me plus I don't want to drive there every time..

I've heard that if you do it by yourself on VZW website, it's free.
But I don't know how to "deactivate" your phone that you're using right now. Apparently if I want to change my phone to VX8600, I'll have to deactivate my VX8500 first, and then activate the VX8600 as my number. Then I'll be able to activate VX8500 as my mom's number.

Does anybody know how to do it? please help me! 😢

LG 8600 as a Modem

I currently have a 6100 but I am do for an upgrade later this month. I want this phone after doing some research, however, I still don't know if I can use this as a modem for a laptop for internet access the same way as I do with my 6100.

I currently do not have a verizon wireless internet access plan but I can hook my LG 6100 to my laptop and access the internet with "minutes only" being charged. The speed is a little faster than dial-up. It is a great feature for traveling and camping.

The link posted a few days ago seems to be dead for the usb modem driver. I just want to know if anyone else has been able to use this phone as a modem with the minutes only connection.

Thanks, SJ

WAP Homepage

Can you set the WAP homepage for this phone?

On my VX0-8100 I can go to :

Press Menu
0 (from the contact menu)
000000 (secret code)
8 - Wap setting
4- Homepage

and change the homepage. This also works on VX-8300.

Have they retained this option?
I have my own WAP homepage that I use.

Are you charged for sending a sound to yourself if you have the "IN text messaging" package?

I had the Samsung a950 and was able to record sounds, save them in "my sounds", then go back and open the sound and set it as a ringtone.

If i'm not mistaken the "set as ringtone" option is not there on my LG VX-8600, but if i send it to myself (or someone that has the "IN text messaging" package) i can go back to the sent/received message and set it as a ringtone from there. My question is will i be charged extra for sending the "picture" message (which actually contains the sound)or will it be free as part of the "IN text messaging" package that allows me unlimited texts and however many pic messages???

VZ Navigator won't run

I have plenty of memory free but cannot get VZ Nagivator to run.

Every time I start it says 'Updating Data files' and then 'Please exit ad restart VZ Navigator'. Every time.

Really annoying.

I have tried :
* purchasing the app
* uninstalling and reinstalling several times
* resetting phone
* checking 'location' is ON
* checking there is plenty of free memory

anyone else had this problem?

I have VZ Navigator version 2.8.1. build 220 on phone software version : T86VZV02

Poor sound quality...

My girlfriend and I both got this phone separately from different locations. We both had problems with voice quality on the phones, both on our end and as reported by others on their end. No other problems, but I just thought people should be aware that call quality IS an issue. We both returned the phone.

Bluetooth and Pouch Decision

For what it is worth, this is what I will be using for the LG vx8600.
I had the moto H700 and was not satisfied with the voice recognition, or occasional breakup of sound.
I purchased the LG HBM-730. It works great. Voice recognition is better than the H700. The 730 has the same charger as the 8600 so by purchasing the 730 I now have a travel charger. I do miss being able to turn off the headset by closing the boom but can deal with it for better performance. No echo with the 730 and people say I sound as good as a land phone.
I hated the plastic holder (it scratched the top of the phone). I purchased a leather case at:
