Password for MMC on Nokia 6230

I recently got a used Nokia 6230 on eBay. The guy who sold it to me did not give me the password to the MMC folder. Is there any way that I can get the password or reset it?

Nokia N80

Does anyone know when the Nokia N80 will be available in the US?

I know it was approved by the FCC so my guess would be that it will release mid January unless nokia is having problems with the N90.

Well thank you for all the help!!

Software 2 Transfer MP3's as Ringtones for 6255i

Hello,

Does anyone know of a software package that will allow you to copy MP3s to the the Nokia 6255i so that they can be used as ring tones?

The phone, when selecting an MP3 as a ring tone that I placed in the TONES directory, will say "Invalid File".

I purchased "Phone Manager II" from Oxygen thinking that I could do those. So far I have not figured it out. The free Nokia PC Suite software wont allow you to do this either.

Thanks in advance.

Nokia faceplate interchangeability?

Does anyone have a list, or know of a resource, that lists which Nokia models can use the same faceplates? For instance, which other models can use the faceplate from a 6010?

Buy the Nokia N90 officially from T-Mobile for $399

T-Mobile will have a pilot program for the Nokia N90. It will be sold at CompUSA and Ritz Camera starting on December 1st for only $399. T-mobile will be the carrier that will offer the N90 but it most likely come unlocked. If you remember the Nokia N-gage and how that was sold this is basically the same form of how the phone will be distributed. It is Nationwide at every CompUSA and Ritz Camera location. This will be sold ONLY FOR THE FIRST 100 DAYS!!!

Nokia PC Suite

I have a Nokia 6230 and am looking to transfer my text messages to my computer. If I use the PC Suite and click "Transfer Files" then open the phone then "Messages," the computer tells me it is syncing the texts on my phone and computer. But this operation always fails.

Then the "Inbox" folder inside the "Messages" folder has a bunch of texts but with no rhyme or reason. So are these the few texts that have been transferred to my computer or are they a representation of what's still on the phone? Is there a way to get the rest from my phone to the computer? Is there another method I should try?

Thank you for any and all suggestions.

6230i bluetooth

the first time I connected, it was fine. Now everytime I connect then wanna do somethng, i.e. file manage, make wallpaper (thru pc suite) it then has to ask me if I want to connect to my phone.

the first time I did nto have to, and I do not want to have to hit my computer THEN My phone. for instance, if i am on my puter then wanna send text thru the phone thru bluetooth, I don't wanna have to get up and have to hit connect on my phone. I may as well as use my phone. Is there a setting to change that got switched.

Or did my Logitech DiNovo Cordless Bluetooth keyboard bluetooth software mess with it.

I am btw connecting on Pc suite with Widcomm. I thought that was the Logitech software. What is the Microsoft Bluetooth software option...

Nokia 3220 'crash'

Hello,

I've recently gotten a Nokia 3220. I'm very dissapointed to see that it seems to STILL suffer from one fatal flaw.

It crashes (or restarts) when I get more than 40/50 text messages in my inbox.

My 3595 did this EXACT same thing! What's the deal with this? Nokia can't honestly expect us to constantly be deleting messages so that it doesn't crash.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks!

Nokia 6256i

In the PhoneScoop description of the 6256i, under MMS, it says:

"supports video, voice clip, and SMIL." But does it include photos?

I ask bc the definition of MMS includes the above plus PHOTOS and says that MMS may include (a list of features) OR ANY COMBINATION THEREOF.

I cannot imagine that the MMS memory would not hold photo files, but I want to be deadly sure about it, since it was not specifically listed in the PhoneScoop descriptor.

Quality of Phones

Is there a difference in transmission and reception capabilities between an 'entry level' such as the 6010 or 3120 as coompared to a 'high end' unit?
Would a tri band unit be of any benefit here in the US?
I really do not care about bells and whistles, I want a phone that works where lesser phones may get drops. I travel within the US and need a phone that works. I am a long time blue user who is being pretty much forced to go orange.

Nokia 6170 Issue

Ok, so I finally received my Nokia 6170 today... But, there's a problem. On the main screen - the inner display, there is a blueish/gray line that runs horizontally between the antenna and battery life indicators. It is right above where it says Cingular. Now, it doesn't stay there all the time... For instance, when I select an option that places a word on that line, it disappears until the end of the word and then appears again to the end of the screen. Or, if I bring up the IMEI number, it disappears completely... Once out of those options though, it reappears for the length of the screen. Is it supposed to be there? Can you shut it off? Do I need to return the phone? Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank...

Amusing N90 Movie Clip

I've been sent a link to an amusing N90 movie that states it was shot on the phone without any kind of video 'improvement'.

The clip is much better quality compared with the stuff I see on other phones which got me wandering whether the movie has been digitally 'enchanced'.

You can see what I mean here:

Any opinion on this is welcome. Thanks in advance.

6102 and mp3 ringtones issue?

Hey all,

Just wondering... I just recieved my 6102 through letstalk.com, great site.. prompt service. Anyway, the phone says it supports mp3 ringtones, however when I edit an mp3, upload it to my ftp server and download it through the phone, even though the file is a .mp3 the phone retrieves it as a .EXT file... now, I can make that the default ringtone, but if i want to assign it to a group .EXT files do not show up in the list of ringtones to choose from... any ideas on how i can save the file as an MP3 and stop the phone from converting/appending .ext to the filename?

Question Regarding 6681

I currently own a Nokia 6600 with T-mobile. I wanted to upgrade to the Nokia 6681, because I've been told i can't use the 6682 because it uses GSM 850 which is not supported by T-mobile. My question: is there a significant upgrade to go from a Nokia 6600 to the 6681 or should I wait until the N70 comes out? Also, If I get the unbranded 6681 will it be able to have MP3 ringtones? Is the quality of the MP3 player on the 6681 close/comparable to the iPod?? and Finally other than the GSM900/GSM850, is there any other differences between the Nokia 6681 and Nokia 6682?

Nokia 6230 Problem

I have had a Nokia 6230 for about a month now. Several times (about 6 or 7) I have noticed that my phone is powered off when I wake up in the morning. At first, I thought that I inadvertently turned it off. Nope! Plenty of juice in the battery too. Has anyone else experienced this problem and resolved it? Could it be software as well as a hardware failure? Thanks, Dave

EDGE on 3G phones...

I think it is worth the wait as N70 is starting to sell with some indirect phone dealers in the US. I plan to use T-mobile only, so will they do away with their 1900 and go to 850 also? And is it true that I won't be able to roam where they have agreements with cingular or will the 900 band pick up the 850 band and let me roam?
I'm a little confused about the N70/other 3G phones. I've read some places say that since its a 3G phone it won't offer the EDGE service and only works with the slower GPRS, and others say that even though its a 3G phone, it will support EDGE so I get faster t-zones... Can you clear that up for me? thanks alot. bye
