Re: Verizon forum- Suggestion for Rich

I agree with everything you said. Especially: "Note that when I say the ToU should be changed to ban trolling, I'm not saying folks shouldn't be able to post topics critical of a particular carrier, phone, technology, etc, etc. What DOES need to go are the childish "Carrier X SUX!!!!" and "You r getting OWNED, the end is near!" crap topics that serve no purpose except to start arguments. Other sites have a 'no trolling' policy, and it works... be nice to see it here, as it'd make a good site even better... and more family-friendly." Please Rich, take this into consideration.

Re: A note about Sanyo signal strength indicators

For me, I notice the signal indicator is reading lower... and I have not noticed that much better reception than my Sanyo 4900. I was really looking forward to being able to use my mm5600 somewhere in my apartment other than sitting on the floor by the window, but I guess Sprint's reception in my area just isn't strong enough yet. So annoying when my friends on Verizon come over and can wander my apartment freely with full signal. Oh well... I'm still keeping the phone and sticking with Sprint. Anyone know how to get Sprint to boost signal in the area?

One thing you can try if you haven't already is set the phone to Sprint Only mode. Settings -> Roaming -> Set Mode then select Sprint. This forces the phone to try to keep the signal longer rather than drop to roaming. Also, if your address falls inside coverage you could go to a Sprint Store or call the Customer Care department and ask to get a trouble ticket made up for signal issues for your area. If you *should* be getting service and you're not the techs will look into working on the closest tower. If you're on the edge of coverage then that ticket is one more voice saying Please put up another tower for this area!

I've had my 5600 for a month now and I have indeed noticed the signal indicator showing less bars at my house then my vm4500 did. I live in a rural area where signal is normally weak, yet I've only dropped one call w/ my 5600 and that was in my basement/unfinished crawlspace crouched between 2 steel I-beam supports.

Re: Does T mobile have any BT phones that are not Crippled?
by bizkitsngravy    Apr 13, 2005, 4:57 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Yes, let me clarify. There are certain phones that bluetooth does not support "all" things it may inately be able to do as a product on the whole. That doesn't mean T-Mobile has disabled them.... http://www.blackberry.com/products/han dhelds/blackberry7100t.shtml (note: it doesn't advertise what it won't do, but what it will, which is just the hands-free headset and car-kit support) I'll give you an example. The blackberry 7100t: it will not support data transfer via bluetooth, but will support the bluetooth earpiece. Blackberry does that, not T-Mobile, and yes we buy that product knowing so, and we do not advertise it as a phone that is capable of doing that, and to my knowledge, neither did vzw. From what I understand, and if anyone can add to this or correct me please do so, is vzw did not support OBEX through bluetooth, however allowed data/files/objects to be transmitted through a service they have for a fee which is set up in a similar format. So, many people took that as a slap in the face that they were being "forced" to pay for an exchange they thought should be free simply because the phone was bluetooth enabled. The MOT V710 was the phone that sparked all the controversy, but vzw has and did so at the time as well have a portion of their webpage solely devoted to bluetooth...what it is, what it does, and how it works. Specifically mentioned is the V710 which says nothing about the ability to transfer files to and from a computer, but allows for sync of other applications. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/dispatcher? action=DISPLAY&item=_FAQ_TOPIC&topicID=252#1656 ( look under "profiles" under #2) Basically different bluetooth devices including phones are set up with different profiles. The profiles dictate what the bluetooth will and will not do, and it's set that way by the manufacturer of the device, not the service provider. So the answer or end result is some will and some won't.

Nokia 6255i ringtones and note polyphony

I am considering purchasing this phone. I was wondering how many ringtones does it have? Also, does it come equipped with manufactured mp3 ringtones? Another question I have is does it have the 24 chord polyphony or 16 chord polyphony?
