I HATE CUSTOMERS WITH COMPANY PHONES!!!
I always get at least one customer a day that come in with a company phone. I hate this and this is why:
C - My phone is ready for an upgrade and I want to get a new one.
R - I can help with that. Let me pull it up here. What is the cell phone number?
C - 555-555-5555.
R - And may I have the last four of your SSN.
C - Why do you need that?
R - (To commit identity theft! Just kidding!) To verify and fully access the account.
C - 1234.
R - That doesn't seem to match the information we have on file.
C - What do you have?
R - I don't know. I do not have access to the account until I have that.
C - Well, it is a company phone.
R - (Why didn't you say that to begin with? Oh, yeah. You wanted to annoy me.) Okay. In that case, I need the company's tax ID.
C - How am I supposed to know that?
R - You'd need to speak with whomever is in charge of the account at your company.
C - But I pay it. It's my phone. It's just in their name.
R - Sorry, but we have to have that and a letter on company letter head stating you are authorized to upgrade and sign a new contract.
C - That's BS. Can't you just sell me a phone?
R - Yes, sir. However, it would be at full retail price. You wouldn't be eligible for any discounts.
C - That's BS. I came all the way down here for nothing then. Is that what you are saying?
R - No, sir. That is not what I am saying. I am saying that I can sell you a phone at retail price or if you can get the company's tax ID and a letter stating you are allowed to sign a new contract.
C - So this was a waste of time? You suck. I'm going to tell my boss to switch to (INSERT RIVAL NAME HERE).
R - I'm sorry you feel that way. Have a nice day.
I have only had two people come in prepared with all the information they needed for a company phone and everyone else normally goes like the example above.
Note: The above example is taken from a real life situation.
