Re: Motorola RAZR pricing?!?!?!

11/14/2005 Effective Monday, November 21, 2005, Alltel will launch the CDMA Motorola RAZR V3c. The RAZR will retail at $199.99 on a 2-year service agreement and features a 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, video capture and playback, MP3 and AAC player, Bluetooth functionality and BREW 3.1. The RAZR is a digital-only device, and QNC is not supported; therefore, the handset will be available in 1X markets only. Also, due to possible supply limitations based on the expected demand of the RAZR, please follow the suggested product distribution guidelines below: - Do not pre-sell, create waiting lists or drive demand which will only serve to create stock-out environments faster, given the limited supply of the RAZR product at launch. - Employees may not purchase the RAZR until January 1, 2006. - Business, agents and all tiers of retail will be allocated the RAZR product at launch. Product allocation will be reassessed with each shipment to replenish channels as necessary. - Not all locations will be selling the RAZR due to our merger with Western Wireless as these locations are overlap RSA's. View the list of locations not able to sell the handset. Note: Our new Axcess App video application, MobiTV, will be available on the RAZR at launch. For details on downloading this Axcess App, Existing Motorola accessories are not compatible, with the exception of BlueTooth

DUN Works on 9800 now!!

Tracker557, over at HoFo, has done it!!.. It's at 1xRTT, but atleast we HAVE internet via 9800 now!!.. A HUGE thanks to him!! :D Here's how: ------------------------------------------ - OK, I messed around with some settings and managed to connect at 1X speeds. I'm not sure if these same setting will work at EVDO network speeds. Here are the exact settings I used with my LG VX9800 with Windows XP using the stock windows "Network Connections" dialer: Phone: I didn't change any settings on the phone, however, I'm not in an EVDO area. If you are in a EVDO network area it may or may not be necessary to put the phone into 1X only mode. Either way, here's how to do it if you need to: *NOTE - this step may not be required!* Open the phone and press OK, 0, 000000 to access the services menu. Press 3, Network Select Press 1, Mode Preference Select 1X only. (Remember to change it back to Digital Only Hybrid when done) Bluetooth: You're on your own here guys. I use a cable and have all of the appropriate drivers. Network Connections Settings (computer dial up settings): Dial number: #777 Username: "your10digitnumber"@vzw3g.com Password: vzw Select Properties, Select "Options" tab Under "Dialing options" check "display progress while connecting", "prompt or name and password, certificate, etc.", and "prompt for phone number" Select Security tab, Select "Advanced" (NOT typical), Under "Data encryption" select "Optional Encryption" Under "Login Security" select "Allow These Protocols" and check ONLY "unencrypted passwords (PAP)" Select "Networking" tab Ensure that "type of dial up" is set to PPP Don't ask me why these particular settings work, but they do for me. I had previously tried MANY other settings and ALL reasonable username / password combinations without success. I hope this works for you! Good luck! ------------------------------------------- -

i don't see alltel being purchased by anyone because they are looking to grow. they have now bought out 2 carriers in less then a year. they also currently cover more area then any other service provider(note i'm not saying population, i'm saying land area). finally they have an amazing roaming agreement w/ verizon that allows them to offer very competitive national plans(although that agreement ends in 07 i believe). i think the one thing that really hurts alltel is that they operate in very few large markets. I know of Jacksonville, FL and Oklamhoma City. Can anyone else fill me in on other large markets they serve? as far as tmobile is concerned, i have no idea
