for sale forum

I suggest that a forum be set up for selling cell phone related items otherwise their postings will begin to crowd many other forums.

browser preference

Each time I click on a link in the email notifiaction from phonescoop a browser window in IE opens up. This occurs even if I have open my Mozilla Fiorefox browser.

I have not been able to find any preference setting regarding this. Does anyone know how I can configure the settings so that the phonescoop window opens in the firefox browser?

I use XP.

Aircard question

Rich, any chance of getting a forum or other coverage for aircard issues? I know at Verizon we're starting to sell these things hand over fist, and it'd be nice to have some sort of resource for resolving issues, questions, etc.

LG VX8000

Someone in the LG forum wanted to know if the Speaker phone option on the LG VX8000 was going to be Full-Duplex? On the Motorola 710 it says what type it is (Full-Duplex). When you look at the LG 8000 it only says "speaker phone" not what type. Do you know or have the information on either half-duplex or full-duplex on the LG VX8000?

LG VX6000 Message Alerts - HELP!

Is there a way to activate a message reminder alert if you miss an incoming text, voicemail, etc. My phone only alerts once and then never again. To make matters worse, the front display goes off after a few minutes so the phone has to be periodically checked to see if you have any new messages.
Does anyone know 1) if there is a message reminder alert and 2) if there is a way to make the front display stay on?
Thank you!

Moto v220

Rich, let me ask you something. The v220 is tri-band 900/1800/1900 overseas, here it should be 850/1800/1900. I have higher up in Cingular telling me that the v220 that we are gonna sell has 850/900/1900, is this true? Would moto do this for just cingular? it doesn't make sence to me. i think i proved him wrong and he doesn't like that fact that i know more than he does. Can you find out for me?

Site Updates

Lots of tweaks to the site today. Smile

Here's a few:

  • Sorting options for phones on carrier and manufacturer pages.

  • New "positive" and "negative" sorting options for phone user reviews.

  • Forums:
    • Automatic profanity filter.

    • New, more flexible View Options. Please try them out and see what works best for you. Just go to the message list for any forum, and click "View Options" at the top. Those of you who prefer vBulletin-style forums may find that one of the new view options helps usability.

    • Unread messages now highlighted in bold. This makes it really easy to spot the new messages in any message list.

    • New main Forums page. Now tabbed and spruced up a bit, with most recent mes

Quoting messages

I am beginning to agree with the previous poster that this site is outdated in it's formatting...

If this formatting is going to remain as is, is it possible that when people respond that the message they are responding to automatically "pops up" in the replied text box? Many people do not use the "quote message" option and I'm led through a labyrinth of messages trying to determine what the poster is responding to...

If the format isn't going to change so all messages in the thread are readable (like Wireless Advisor or applesupport.com), then could we at least have the message posted in the box?

If the posts get too long, then how about at least an automatic pasting of the message in the box with the responder's option to "edit" t...

Really needed phone finder search option

For those of us working in secured buildings where the requirement is that our phones do NOT have a camera, would it be possible to add a search option to find phones specifically without a camera? Other than that, this site has been extremely helpful.

Thank you for the concise information on E-911 and LBS. Based on your information I thought it may be useful for you to include in the website information which carriers are LBS capable and include in the phone finder their specs that may be relevant to LBS for that particluar phone.

Samsung e715 ear piece volume

I have the e 715, when I use the hands free ear piece that came with the phone, (it is the one with the on/off switch) even though I have the volume as high as I can go, it is difficult to hear, especially in the car and my state (NJ) just went hand free or else.

Any advise or other suggestions, earpieces, amplifiers or units that plug into you radio will be appreciated.

I've been to mobile phone stores to no avail.

Phone Finder

I like the phone finder function but the limit annoys me because I'm trying to find get a list phones from Samsung that have two features. If I put just the two features in, I never see more than the first 20. Adding a manufacturer selection limit would be useful to people like me who wants to eliminate undesirable brands.

Quarterly Earnings and other Reports

Maybe I just can't find it here, but if it's not on phonescoop already, perhaps you should put the Quarterly reports for each carrier on the Carriers page. It could be another tab like: |Info & Phones|Quarterly Reports|Forums|

I know this is more work for you, Rich, but it would be a BIG help in researching carriers financial status.

Revamped Compare Interface

I just launched a totally revamped interface to the side-by-side phone comparison feature.

The old way was pretty non-obvious, non-intuitive, and cumbersome. A lot of people probably didn't even know the feature existed. The link was hard to find, and you had to jump all around the site just to select a couple of phones to compare. It was like a scavenger hunt or something. It sucked, I admit. Embarassed Sorry.

Anyway, now there's a big, obvious "Compare Phones" link on the main "Phones" page (which has also been revamped). That takes you to a new page where you can select all the phones at once. And the results page now has easy "add" and "remove" links.

Oh, and you can now compare up to 5 phones at once. Smile (The max was 3 before.)
