New Site Tweaks - phone specs

Some minor tweaks to the phone specs pages over the last couple days:
  1. Parts of the "camera" feature have now been split out separately - "video capture" and "video calling" are now their own features. So the "type" attribute for the camera feature is gone now, which previously indicated video capability.

  2. The "type" attribute also said whether the camera was built-in or attachable. The whole attachable-camera thing never really seemed to take off, so I've just removed that altogether. So phones that support attachable cameras now do not have the "camera" feature listed, and don't come up in Phone Finder. In other words, the "camera" feature now means "integrated camera".

  3. The new attribute for "camera" is "resoluti

Another Phonescoop.com feature request

This isn't really a major significant feature in and of itself really, but I think it could be helpful nonetheless.

You guys do a great job getting images of the phones--especially those all important angles when you're allowed (and either given the time or the images themselves).

What I would like to request is one additional shot of the phone (like the initial face-forward shot) that has another phone or even a ruler or some identifiable object that could provide people with some context as to how big the phone REALLY is. Yes, I know you do a fantastic job providing measurements on each phone as it is released, but for some people, that just NEVER translates into what the phone looks like size-wise (me being one of them).

To have ...

Phonescoop.com Feature Request

I think this website is very well done, and I have been around long enough to see developments of the site.. but something I'd like to see is a per phone feature that works similar to the "Compare vs..." link.

Instead of my having to know what phones have what, I'd like to be able to click a button while browsing a given phone, and find all other phones that have similar features..

This should be a fairly simple tie in to your Phone Finder funcationality.

So if I were looking at this phone, for example; https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =478

There would be a link right next to Compare vs... that would automatically pull up other phones with the same or similar features.

This would allow users to find other phon...

NOKIA 7260 General Price Information if any?

To whom this may concern:

I am considering purchasing a gift for a family member overseas in Romania and I as wondering how much or if you can offer me an estimated price of the NOKIA 7260? The purchase would be a birthday gift, and I need to know more or less how much the phone goes for as far as international prices are concerned? For example, how much would the phone be if I would convert dollars into euros? Can you provide me with a number for NOKIA as well? Please if anyone can provide me with the necessary pricing information I will appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
John aka HawkMan

Rich - what do you think...

about adding a forum for aircards? With EV-DO out, and EDGE too, I think it's a viable subject. I sell a pile of them every month, and I know they're going to get much more popular.

incoming rings (Motorola V220)

when getting an incoming call it only rings twice before going to voicemail. Is there any way to make it 4 rings? I can't seem to find it in the book. Actually the book isn't good for much.

Phone Finder Options

Hey Rich,

How about adding some options to search for mega-pixel camera phones, or search by camera sensor (for those that distinguish between CCD and CMOS)? What about being able to search for phones with specific Bluetooth profiles, for those phones that don't offer full Bluetooth functionality? Just some thoughts. Love the site! (It's hard to improve when you're the best.) Thanks! 😉

educate me on cell phones

I am in the market for a camera phone ~ I don't really know a lot about the specifics of some of the features ~ I really like the nokia 7610 and the koi ~ I have been told no less than a mega pixel ~ OK I get that ~ but can you explain amps and cdma ~ do I need both and can I get mp3 downloads with just high speed data and not the mp3 option ? EMS picture messaging ??? worth it ?? should it be included ? any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. I have a phone currently, contract is up and can be renewed at any time ~ I am also being very patient and would like to make an educated decision rather than a hasty one just to have a phone.

Anyone else think the format here is archaic?

Seriously guys, take a look at forums across the internet. This place is so convoluted it's near impossible to follow a thread without getting lost at least once!

A simple format change is desperately needed: the first post should have each complete reply posted under it, with the ability to quote an individual if you want to respond specifically to something they posted.

Look at sites like www.AR15.com and try and emulate the format there if you want this board to become anything more than the meager browsing point it is currently.

Please don't take this the wrong way, this is meant to be constructive! 😁

Linux OS forum?

Hey Brome,

There seem to be some great Linux OS phones coming out this year. Could we have a Linux phone forum? (or does one already exist under another name)
