I like the phone, too. I'm not going to get it until I'm sure that one I can buy has the new firmware, but it is a very nice phone. The screen looks great and I think it has much potential, even if I can't type as fast on it as I currently can on my Q. :)

The software is my primary issue. If they can get that fixed, I think I could get used to the touchscreen. Although I was making some typos on the demo, that was only with about a 1/2 hour of usage in the store. But when the software kept freezing up on me when I tried to run the preinstalled video (which looked fantastic, I might add), not allowing me to turn down the speaker volume, not ...

Unfortunately (and hopefully), there will be another newer phone out by then....one with software that works properly.
I'm not bashing either, but the demos I tried out were really bad and someone who responded to my earlier post said his was just as bad.
I'm trying not to add to the negativity. I really want to like this phone. I really need to buy a new phone. But until I start hearing some good stuff from actual buyers, ...

I stopped by my local VZW store this afternoon and tried out the demos they had available. They were all buggy. The accelerometer did not respond well, and in fact, one of the two demos wouldn't even show the web in portrait mode...only landscape. The OS was very slow and at times the virtual keyboard would not go away once it was activated. Things were getting so bad that I even shut down and restarted ...

The difference is I don't think Go 2.0 is available yet for the Q. I have Yahoo! Go on my phone as well, and it is nice, but when I tried to get 2.0 from the website, it said it is not available yet for the Moto Q.

It's true. But I don't know if they're still honoring it. I know it was available when the phone first came out, but now with any patches that were made, they may not still honor it.

Or you can convert your files to wmv format. Works very well with the Windows Media Player on your phone. If you search, you will find there are quite a few websites that tell you how to do this.

As far as I know, it must be a .wmv file in order to play on the Q's Media Player. Once you figure it out, all the movies work very well.

This is exactly why I don't buy music from iTunes anymore. It's easier to buy the cd, rip it to my computer, and use it EVERYwhere, ie.- pc, Xbox 360, iPod, and yes, Motorola Q.

Honestly, I think ActiveSync has been having trouble with a number of anti-virus software. I have Norton and was having problems synching, but the recent ActiveSync update fixed all of that.

I have the Verizon case. Instead of putting the Q in horizontally like the Motorola case, it goes in vertically, but has a swivel belt clip. Same magnetic closure as the Motorola and works well with both the standard and extended battery. Does add a little more bulk to the phone, but I like the protection it offers when I'm out and about. I'm pleased with it.

Mine worked fine for about 1-1/2 months, then unexpectedly stopped communicating with my PC about a week ago. I had just installed new internet security programs on my PC and thought that might be the problem. After trying EVERYTHING I could think of I went to MS website and saw a new version of MS ActiveSync, 4.2. I downloaded it and everything worked fine again.

Check your profile. Mine has been known to switch to "normal" after I use my earpiece. You might have to switch it back to "outdoor." After mine did it a few times, I edited my "normal" profile so everything is loud just like the "outdoor" profile. Problem solved.

I haven't put the standard battery back in since I got the extended one. I keep my Q in a case when I'm out and about so the size doesn't affect me that much. When I'm in the car, I plug it in to the car charger so I never lose any bars the entire day and I use it non-stop for everything that I can. That little peace of mind is definitely worth the 20 ...

Can DVD Shrink be used to "backup" a dvd on a mini sd card? I've been trying to use it, but I can't get the file small enough for my 2 GB card.

My extended battery works very well. I tend to charge it when I go to sleep or when I'm in the car, but the batter life rarely loses any bars. If I go for a period over 24 hours w/o charging, then the battery meter goes down approx. half way. And this is with email and internet usage, as well as a lot of playing around (novelty still hasn't worn off yet). 8)

I'm pretty sure the User Manual explains that the PC USB only maintains the battery. You need to use the wall charger (or other type) to actually charge the battery.
