I thought all I had to do was drag an mpeg file onto my memory card and it would play on my Q. Whenever I try to open the file, is says there is no program associated with it and I need to open the program, then open the file inside it. Whenever I open Windows media player and attempt to open the file, the mpeg doesn't show up. What am I doing wrong?

As far as I know, it must be a .wmv file in order to play on the Q's Media Player. Once you figure it out, all the movies work very well.

The Q can only play 3g2 and WMV files.
Videora makes a video convertor, and if you have Windows XP,most likely you have Windows movie maker installed, that will convert most videos into WMV also. The onboard MS media player sucks and its sluggish when you play those 3 or 4 videos
that are in the phone when you bought it.
Download and install the newest version of TCPMP
Version 072 i think. I plays a bunch of video formats, and plays them quite smoothly.

Even if you just use it for WMV playback, its just better.
