Why the too small screen and the too low resolution?

Re: speaker phone duplex

in the Samsung Convoy 2 forum

Thanks Rich, I knew that. PTT is basically a walkie talkie, which is why people always say "OVER" when they have finished talking and are ready for the other person to talk. I have the first version of the CONVOY, which is sitting in my closet. I could not use it because pieces of the conversations were always getting chopped off, since it is definitely Half Duplex. Dollars to donuts the Convoy 2 is also ...

in the LG Clout forum

The Samsung Convoy 2 has just come out for Verizon Wireless. I checked it out at my local VZW retail store. The representative there could not tell me whether the speakerphone was full duplex or only half duplex. Apparently, it is only half duplex, so it would be useless to me. Too bad. Otherwise, it would be a nice clamshell phone.

Samsung Convoy 2 Speaker Phone Defect ?
Aug 13, 2011, 6:06 PM
in the Samsung Convoy 2 forum

As much as I try to research the features on the Convoy 2, I cannot get a direct answer to the question, "Is the speaker phone on the Convoy 2 full duplex, or only half duplex?" If the answer is "full duplex," I will buy it. If the answer is "only half duplex," I shall not buy it. Is there any way to get an honest answer to my question?

in the Casio G'zOne Commando forum

I tried out the G'zOne Commando at my local VZW retail store. Using the Commando to make phone calls just does not work. When using the speaker phone, I was continually having parts of my conversation, and the conversation at the other end of the call, chopped off. No one should ever buy another cell phone with a half-duplex speaker phone. If everyone did this, the companies would not make them anymore. Good riddance ...

I would like to get the Commando. But the half-duplex speaker phone problem is still nagging at me. I have a cell phone with a half-duplex speaker phone (the Samsung Convoy) which I really liked except for the speaker phone problem, which is why it is now sitting in the closet; it also did not have good enough resolution (not enough pixels). The phone I use now is the LG Clout, which has a full-duplex speaker ...

Big Time Major Snafu

in the Casio G'zOne Commando forum

According to the specs listed on this Phone Scoop web site, the speaker phone is the old technology of only half-duplex. If this is accurate, the phone is virtually useless. You cannot carry on a conversation when you and the person on the other end are continually getting pieces of your conversation chopped off. The G'zOne Ravine is full-duplex. Is the G'zOne Commando a step backwards?

Re: Questions

in the Casio G'zOne Ravine forum

Something fishy is going on. There are contact points on the Ravine for a desktop charger, but no such animal exists. The desktop charger should come with the phone but it does not. VZW should sell them separately, but they do not. I can only conclude that the desktop charger does not exist. If it did, I would buy the Ravine and get a desktop charger for it. Since the desktop charger ...

I have tried everything trying to find the desktop cradle charger for the Casio Hitachi G'zOne Ravine with no success. I am at the point of thinking that it does not exist. I have even checked the Verizon Wireless web site. They have a listing for it but they say that it is out of stock (maybe it is out of stock because it does not exist); it is really a shame because I would like ...

I have a question. I would like to get the Casio G'zOne Ravine, but would not consider getting it unless I could also get the desktop cradle charger. The desktop cradle charger does not come in the box, the Verizon Wireless retail stores do not carry it, and it cannot even be ordered from Verizon Wireless (They say it is out of stock). What should I do?

I would like to get the Ravine, but I do not understand the negative comments about the battery life. Has anyone made sure to fully charge the battery before turning on the phone for the first time, and not activating the PTT feature (which I would have not interest in)? These two actions should (hopefully) result in holding a charge for a long time, before the phone needs to be recharged.

Wow, Celway, I had no idea there were so many issues with the Clout. I got mine about a month ago from eBay and have not had any problems with it. Since the Clout is so new I would guess that the "like-new" one they are sending you is one that someone was having problems with. Okay, here is the answer to your battery problem. You obviously let the personnel at the VZW store activate your phone at the time you bought it. This is what degraded your battery. I have had batteries degraded and destroyed in the same manner. What you are supposed to do is to fully charge your battery before turning on your phone (for the first time) with the battery in it. Your only solution now ...

Huh? All the VZW outlets in my area have them (Rockvile/Gaithersburg/Germantown, Maryland). I have had the Renown for about a month or more and it is the best clamshell VZW has now. The loudness varies according to how you set it. It is as loud as you want or as soft as you want. None of the VZW phones are open to saving your own ringtones anymore.

The UI is not as good as on Chocolate 3 because you can not go side to side but have to go back thru the master diagram. The keys are too small and hard to use and have sharp metal edges. Really not worth the wait. The Chocolate 3 is the best clamshell VZW has right now.

The keyboard is awkwar to type with and if you do any amount of texting it is not pactical. Go with the 9900 if this is the case. Also, the speakerphone really suks, wich I find to be a problem when I try to use the phone while driving.

Re: Extended life Battery?
Jan 16, 2007, 3:07 PM
in the LG VX-8600 / AX-8600 forum

The extended life battery is big and heavy, and holds 1400 milliamphours instead of the 800 with the regular battery. The thing to do (which I did, and it works) is to buy a new regular battery and charge it fully before using it. They killed the battery you got with your phone by using it to activate your phone when you bought it.

LONGER BATTERY LIFE
Jan 8, 2007, 5:48 PM
in the LG VX-8600 / AX-8600 forum

To make your battery last much longer, simply buy a new (replacement) battery and charge it fully before using it in the phone for the first time. VZW will not sell you a phone without activating it, so you will have to buy an extra battery, but it is well worth it.

If you have had the phone for 15 days or less, VZW will take the phone back no questions asked and give you a full refund or let you exchange it for a different phone. I have done this after 14 days, exchanging the Casio GzOne for the LG VX8600 and a $200 dollar refund, since the Casio was that much more than the LG. If it has been more that 15 days since your purchase, ...

Re: Battery Life
Dec 23, 2006, 9:06 PM

I tried it and it works. I also tried the extended battery (remembering to fully charge it first) and it lasts forever, but it is heavier and bulkier than the standard battery. I weighs 1.1 ounces as opposed to the 0.7 ounces of the standard battery, making the phone weigh 3.66 ounces instead of the original 3.26 ounces, too heavy to carry around comfortably on one's belt.

Yes, I have. I went back to my local VZW store and bought a new battery for my 8600 for $35.99. I brought it home and recharged it fully before using it in the phone, and I am now getting terrific performance from it in the way of going for much longer times between recharges.

That guy you talked to is full of baloney. Just because a phone has been activated does not mean you cannot resell it. You can dactivate it again and then resell it. Call some other VZW stores around the country and ask them. You can get their phone numbers on the web. Besides, what do they care if you resell your phone? They have already gotten their money out of you.
