GSM SIM Locked?

I wonder if they are going to allow unlocking of the SIM so when traveling with the phone you can use a local SIM card with a local number?

In some cases using the Verizon card with your US number would be nice but sometimes you want a local number. Ideally a phone could have two cards, the Verizon one with your US number and a local one. Either registering both or allowing the user to choose from a menu without opening up the phone.

Vibrate then ring?

Does the Verizon Samsung Renown have a vibrate-then-ring mode?

does external display stay on?

I have the Samsung SCH-u550 and love it, except for one thing: the external display does not stay on so I need to open it to see the clock.

Does the Renown do the same thing????

How loud is it? And Ringtones?

Just wondering, I finally got to see and feel a non working model. I've been to about 3 verizon places around here and they all looked at me like I was nuts when I asked about this phone. So I gave them the model number at Circuit City and they had a non working deal... now... I was curious.. how loud is this phone? I have previously had the Samsung u540 (VERY LOUD)
and the Samsung A950 (Also pretty darn loud) So I was hoping that this one was pretty close to these other two. Also, is this phone open to saving your own ringtones as other phones have been? thank you all very much for your time.

Samsung Renown

I have the LG 8700 and am finally giving up on its Bluetooth capability. After 3 new Verizon replacements I still drop calls on my car's hands free. I am seriously considering the Renown so does anyone have any experience pairing and using this phone with Bluetooth? Thanks. 😁

Fatal Flaw

☹️ This is an excellent phone except for the one fatal flaw. The four-way toggle has pointed spikes whcih dig into the thumb of the user in each of the four directions. Whoever designed this took an otherwise great phone and threw in a deal-breaker... ☹️

Getting better...

Verizon's phone selection is finally starting to get better but not quiet there yet... According to PhoneArena.com, XV6850 aka HTC Raphael is supposed to come out 11/24 and Samsung Omnia (CDMA version) is supposed to come out 12/15... hmm, maybe i should wait and not get the Blackberry Storm...
