Battery Info

I've had this phone for a few months and I'm greaty pleased with it. This is one of the best Motorola flip phones I've had in a while.

One thing I've read on is people complaining about the battery life shortening. I too had this experience. But I think I know what the problem is. It's Push-to-Talk.

When I first got this phone it had amazing battery life. My wife got one too and we put the PTT feature on our plan. We aways kept our PTT Mode turned on and eventually found the battery draining alot faster than usual. I thought it was a crap battery. I tried using the phone without PTT turned on and so far it has greatly increased my battery life. I've gone 2 days and still have full battery! I haven't used it heavily but I'...

Question

Is there a way to disable the music that plays when you turn it on or off?
I've still not found it.

Connection to a PC

I figured out how to connect my new 860 to a PC for ringtones and pictures. I want to share this in case someone else wants to try this.

First I had to buy and install a micro SD card. Then I went to the Motorola Web site, and downloaded a "USB and Charger Driver" The one I got was called:
"Motorola USB_Drivers_32_bit_4.2.0.zip".

I got another as well one called:
"Motorola_Consumer_Driver_Installation_
MotoConnect_1.1.16_32_bit_4.2.0.msi".
while trying to get this to work, so if the first one doesn't work alone, you may want to search the Motorola web site for this one too.

I installed these, and when I connect my phone to my PC with the charger cord, it charges the phone with the PC. An Icon appears in the task bar at the low...

Faint Busy Sounds

Has anyone out there had the problem we are having with 5 Barrages where they will emit an audible - but faint - busy signal? This happens only when in standby mode and will continue until the user opens it up and hits the end key. Verizon & Motorola Tech Folks can't yet find a solution??? 4 of the 5 are using the PTT feature - law enforcement... No pattern as it occurs at random sometimes 15-20 times per day, or maybe only 1-2 times per day? Also it does not matter where the user is?
Thanks for any ideas...

Cannot Buy Because Of Battery Cover

I had been anticipating buying the Barrage, but the voluminous number of reports of the malfitting battery cover has led me to wait for the Samsung Convoy or the Casio Rock. I need a sturdy cell phone for my active lifestyle.

Barrage temporarily pulled from inventory

Apparently the early reports of earpiece issues on the Barrage were part of a widespread problem, and Verizon is now saying they cannot order the phone until the problems are fixed. Hopefully, Motorola gets it right this time and the Barrage is re-released shortly.

Aside from the earpiece, the reviews of the phone seem favorable. If they get the earpiece fixed, this phone is going to be amazing.

It needs some work- not ready for launch

I was looking forward to this phone but I'm sending mine back. The phone has a lot of great qualities like good build quality, nice rubberized housing, great hinge, nice sealed tight battery cover, nice keypad, and Moto UI!.....

but the damn phone ear piece volume sucks. Is it usable? yes for some but I find it unacceptable.
