Upgrade to Galaxy S3 or...?
Time to upgrade my 2+ yr old incredible, especially since the screen is cracked! Want to stay on verizon and with andriod, so is there anything besides the Galaxy S3 to consider? Don't want a keyboard, and think I'll like the larger screen. If the Razr Maxx was the same price, I guess I'd think about it, but can't see spending $100 more...

For some reason it does not become a ringtone. I go to my message inbox, open the message, and the attachment starts playing. Then I press the right soft key "options" and the only save type option is option 4, "save sound". I select that, then the file turns up in "my sounds", but not in "my ringtones".
The file is a little over 300kb (but less than 30 sec) - does that make a difference ?

Ringtone - need help with last step
So I can trim an mp3 to less than 30 sec/300 kb, change the file extension to .qcp, and email it to myself a a pix message attachment, and then receive it.
But then what do I do ? I can listen to the attachment, and there is a "save sound" option, but not a "save as ringtone" option. If I save the sound, it does not appear in my ringtone list, bu in "my sounds". ...
Mediocre mp3 sound quality
Does anyone else have mediocre sound quality from the mp3 player ? To me the same mp3s sounded much better on my e815 (w/same earbuds). Could the 1/8" plug to mini-usb adapter be downgrading the sound quality ? Is this a software issue - should I exchange for a new phone ?
missed call icon doesn't refresh
After I check a voice mail message, the voicemail alert icon usually goes off but the missed call alert icon stays on for sometimes hours, usually until I reboot the phone. Never used to happen with my e815. Does anyone else have this problem ? Is this a bug ?
Will Amp'd 816 work on Verizon ?
Lost my e815 to weeks ago and I'm just not as happy with the MotoRazr Maxx Ve which I got to replace it. Been looking around and see that new E815s can be had on eBay for about $120, but saw a flier in todays paper for an e816 through Amp'd for $30 - no contract, etc.
Any chance I can get this to work on the verizon network ?

Maxx is missing some e815 features
Overall the maxx is a very good phone, but a few small things bug me:
When i plug in the charger, the phone initially says battey charging but doesn't continue to do so. Its nice to see that message to confirm the plug hasn't come out of the wall socket beneath the desk. Plus there is no charge complete message (if the phone is on) - why not ?
The clock on the outside screen is tiny - any ...
Games on e815 ?
Besides GIN, is there any way to get (free) games onto this phone ? Where can I find free games ?

You're right it is hard to sort out what is real from what is bs on this forum - I guess that's part of the fun. I'm waiting for a CNET review, or a phonescoop editor's review, or some other "neutral" (?) review on these two phones to get reliable information.

I have a v60i that I'd like to upgrade w/ my NE2, so I've been following the 8100 debate on this forum for the past couple of weeks. As such, I claim no special insider knowledge, just rational speculation.
I agree w/ sgt-d that mp3s will probably never be enabled on this phone. The e815 appears to be mp3 enbabled, so its not as if vzw is keeping that feature off their network.
Maybe moto has a deal w/vzw to ...
What I dont get is...
why are mp3s enabled on the Moto phones (E815, V710) and not on the 8100 ? The fact that Motos play mp3s now doesn't really support everyone's argument that mp3s will come on the 8100 w/MOD. And acc to a vzw rep, MOD is 6 mos away, and I'll bet vzw will try to sell us a new phone at that time rather than enable the 8100. The 8000 didn't have a long shelf life before ...
