Considering the 8100 or the 815 - A Word of Advice:

Do not rely on the user reviews as many appear to be skewed! I am not a phone basher and couldn't care less about any particular phone -as long as it worked as intended. Since my knowledge of phones is very limited and I am definitely not a geek - I had to depend on phone reviews as a first step as to which phone was without problems. Not only are the forums of both the 8100 and 815 filled with unreliable information (put there by bashers) but the review section (for both phones) is filled with either bashers or LG/Motorola reviewers who probably have never even tried out either phone. Just look at the LG review section for today and see how many reviewers just signed up today for Phonescoop to give their review (both positive and negativ...

I respect everyone's opinion about which phone is better for them. But, I totally disagree with your conclusion that the LG owners are more honest than the Motorola owners.

Since the E815 came out a couple of weeks before the 8100. I saw numerous LG fans/moto bashers on the Moto forum slamming the E815 and talking up the 8100 before it was even released. It's ridiculous to say a phone is better than another before you even get your hands on it.

I'm sure there are fraudulent posters on both sides. But, from what I've seen. It was the LGers who took the first shot.

Here is my take on that): can I prove one site has more fraudulent threads - no! But just reading the comments on both sides (the 8100 and the 815 forums) - I got the feeling that there were many more kids (those under 20 years of age) with the 815 (and that is probably true since it is less expensive - plus from what I read it was more hackable - a teenager's dream!) - and they tend to say anything they want (although I am sure there are many who are mature and honest) - plus there seemed to me (in the review section) to be many negative comments by individuals who became members that same day and who first gave a negative comment to the 8100 and then turned right around and praised the 815 (while possible - one usually doesn't read a revie...

We may never know who is the worst. There seems to be a lot of immaturity on both sides of the debate.

For what it's worth. I have the 815 and am more than satisfied with it. I've been an LG fan for a long time. I loved both LGs I've owned. But, the 815 was just better suited for my current needs. As far as it's build quality. It's definitely tougher than you might expect. I feel no need to pamper it. Believe it or not. I have found one very good advantage that my plastic 815 has over my older metal LGs. It doesn't conduct heat and get warm when talking like they did. I guess to each their own.

Thanks for the mature discussion. It seems to be a rarity around here.

I agree with you both. I think it is about time to see some adult opinions albeit even a friendly debate. Neither of you called each other names or dis-credited your opinions. That is how it should be, discuss, inform, and respect. Cudos to you both!

You're right it is hard to sort out what is real from what is bs on this forum - I guess that's part of the fun. I'm waiting for a CNET review, or a phonescoop editor's review, or some other "neutral" (?) review on these two phones to get reliable information.

From an unscientific review of the 815 and 8100 forums, it seems like there are a lot more "issues" with the 8100, but many of them have to do with vzw, not LG.

When it comes down to it - one has to wonder why everyone is up in arms over these phones and the cell service provider - and the answer is easy: We can send someone to the moon (35 years ago) - we now have sophisticated digital cameras that take photos better than film cameras - we have HD TV - the Red Sox can win the World Series; yet, we can't have decent cell phone service with reliable cell phones in 2005 within the most sophisticated country in the world?????

What I also don't understand (and I am obviously not in the business) - Verizon is picking up customers left and right - yet everyone is still complaining about the service - does that tell me all of the other providers are that much worse?

I think Verizon's coverage is better than the other carriers. So people will put up with (just about) anything to get good reception! 🤣

Thanks Palmero22. I am doing the same. both forums seem to be a bit out of hand. i just hope verizon has reps monitoring because the one cosistent on both forums is everyones displeasure of verizon greed and their crippling of phones.

Peace,
J
