So, is this the last independent affiliate?
I'm pretty sure Sprint brought them all into the fold, after the Nextel deal. Except iPCS of course. Certainly, I don't think there are any out there who are causing litigious grief. But, I'm wondering if they've now all been bought-out.
"compatible w/networks operated by ... MetroPCS & Cricket" ??
Based on the spec's, I'd guess this is compatible with VZW/Alltel & Sprint, as well those listed in the article. Am I missing something?
Also, it's already be stated the US Cellular is offering this device.
Just wondering. Was there a reason to call out Metro & Cricket?
Re: Sprint Family Locator?
Anyone know if SFL uses info already in the network? Or, does it take a unique action to locate the device (via GPS &/or cell triangulation, I assume)?
If something is triggered between the network and device, what actually happens?
Does this action require some type of action/response by the device (not the user, I know that's not required)?
Does locating a device via SFL cause any drain on the device power/battery?
Sprint Family Locator...
Sprint only charge $5 per month and you can located up to 4 phones. It's been out for some time now. Wonder why ATT is charging twice as much for 1/2 the devices.
Release Date?
Anybody know when this will be available?
Sprint Family Locator?
Anyone have experience with this feature? Can you provide any comment or opinion?
I've temporarily got it turned-on on my account. Seems pretty cool, since I've got kids on my account.
Appears that accuracy can vary greatly (10-15 yards, on the low-end - 1.5 mile radius, on the high-end).
Seems that the Centro isn't nearly as accurate as others. Is that consistent across all Centros? Or, could it be this particular one.
Rant & Instinct seem more precise.
Is this the exact ...
Re: Rant freezing issue?
I understand that Samsung has released a new firmware to address this issue. Couple of questions?
- Does completely fix it? i.e. any reports of freezing w/the new firmware?
- Does the freezing issue occur under certain circumstances/during certain functions?
- Can someone provide the firmware release rev of the 'fixed' version?
Thanks!
Instinct text messaging?
Is there a way text using traditional T9 or triple tap? Keyboard is nice, but I'm much faster using T9.
Lost My Instinct
So, what's it gonna cost me to replace? I have either ERP or TEP, not sure which(?). Don't recall which they put on my plan. How do I tell? Anyway, what will it cost me to replace my cool-as-sh*it device?
No, not exactly...

Similar in 'general' styling. But, some significant differences in hardware/form factor. Obvious visual difference is Centro keyboard is horizontally straight across. 800W's is curved like the Treo's. Also, compare dimensions & weight.
Re: palm 800w coming to verizion??
Initially, Sprint has an exclusive on the 800w for an undisclosed amount of time. Speculation is that it will be for 90 days.
Re: Roaming Question
Sprint had used Alltel as a roaming partner quite a bit in the past. Not sure how current that is anymore.
Re: Offering help with your billing issue.
Ivy, why R U YELLING? ssshhhh. We can hear you.
Synch calendar?
Does the M520 support USB cable synch w/calendar &/or contacts programs on a PC or Mac? Phone Scoop's feature page indicates that it does. But, I've not seen specifics. Can anyone offer specifics?
Best basic phone for coverage?
Can anyone comment on which Sprint phone has the best ability to pick-up and maintain signal? Don't care about data, texting features. Looking for strong voice signal, used on 'edge' of Sprint's network.
Early adopters, please post review
Please give us your impressions of the Instinct.
ENOUGH! Take it to the Sprint forum.
This is the Instinct forum. Every one who wishes to bash/pump/compare carriers, please take it to the appropriate carrier forum page.

Let's talk Samsung Instinct here.
Sprint Music Manager for MAC?
Does anyone know if the Sprint Music Manager has a release for MAC OS? CD only has Windows support. Sprint rep said MAC version was available for download. Can't find on their site.
Re: Phone book and sync options???
What program are you running on the MAC? Must you use B'tooth to synch, can you use cable synch. Not sure the MAC Mini supports B'tooth.
Re: i450 & Opera Mini?
Thanks, Thomas. Finally got around to doing this. Was fairly simple. Took a few tries to get the .jad file to load to the phone. Not sure what happened. Finally, it just did on 4th or 5th try. Early attempts returned an error in pop-up box.
Opera is working fine on the i450. Do get the memory low message, every time I launch it. But still seems to work fine. Anything I need to know about that? Or a way ...
i450 & Opera Mini?
Folks, I've got the USB Cable (NNTN5405A, hope it's the correct one) and I've downloaded Opera Mini, both basic and advanced(.jad & .jar files). I'm not sure which will work best on the i450. Anyone know?
I've never installed anything on this phone before. Do I need a middleware, or install program?
Any secrets to the process?
Please advise.
So, which carrier(s) will carry this?
Sprint, VzW, Alltel, US Cellular? They're all CDMA carriers. So which will offer this?
Next Sprint Treo?
Any insiders have an idea when Sprint will launch their version of the next Treo? Rumors have indicated that they'll get two new Treo 700s. One running Palm OS, another running Window's Mobile (which VZW already has a temporary exclusive on).
Anything better than "rumor" out there?
WiMax, Flarion, UMTS TD-CDMA...
I think Sprint is trialing all of the above. Last I heard they were still a member of the WiMax forum. Of course they're tight w/QCOM. I beleive Nextel trialed Flarion (in N.C.) prior the merger and QCOM's acquistion of Flarion.
Looks like Sprint is trying to keep bets on most all horses in the 4G race.
Re: Bookmarks?
Wow. That kinda sucks. Cause some of the pages are pretty "triple tap" intensive. Since the Boost Web content does not include News, Weather etc, it would be good to be able to access other pages, w/o a ton of tapping.
Any good ideas???
Bookmarks?
Thanks, Jess. I was able to access WAP pages not already presented on the Boost Web. However, I was not able to get any of them to bookmark. Each time I clicked "Mark," while on a page, I got some error indicating the server wasn't capable of this feature. Didn't really understand that. Can you explain or tell me if I'm doing something wrong. BTW, this is a I450
Boost Web Content?
Can the content available via the Boost Wireless Web feature be modified? Is there anyway to gain access to the Nextel content?
As you know, Boost targets the hip-hop demographic. Hence, no News links. They've got Sports, Music, Games etc.
I recently gave a Boost phone to my 75 year old dad. I don't see him chirpin w/his homies, often. But, I think he might want to ball scores and CNN news etc.
98596 Not Covered by VZW
It's close. But, it appears that area is just outside Verizon's built out network.
Click the following link, to see the actual VZW network. Be sure to click the VERIZON WIRELESS NETWORK radio button.

FYI, Barry, carriers often offer services (issue phone #s) in areas which they have not themselves built out.
GSM??
Who the he11 would use any of the GSM carriers in this country?
So, this thing has been locking up?
You've been using for a week? How many times has it locked up on you? What kinda things were U doing when it locked? U think this is Window locking up, or some h/w issues?
68% of $9.2B
Forsyth, they already owned 32% of NXTP. TOTAL value of NXTP was averaged at $9.2 B. So, they only had to pay $6.2B.
Also, you implied you were referring to THIS purchase costing $15B. Yes, acquiring all of the PCS affiliates is starting to add up. But, they knew going into their deal w/NXTL that they were gonna have satisfy them (acquisition or renogotiate their agreements).
But, they still not up $15B.
Your Bad Math... NXTP = $10 B

Sprint Nextel will buy affiliate for $6.5B
Sprint Nextel Corp. will buy wireless affiliate Nextel Partners Inc. for $28.50 a share, or $6.5 billion.
In a written release Tuesday, the companies said the $6.5 billion figure includes amounts payable upon conversion of debt securities and settlement of options.
The transaction implies an enterprise value for Nextel Partners of about $10 billion, the companies said. Sprint Nextel owns about a third of Nextel Partners.
The "put" price of $28.50 a share was determined after ...
Re: Do Boost credits ever expire?
O.K. So say I re-boost for $20 on day 89, with $2 left from previous boost (per your example), so I'll have $22. Then, on day 91, I'll still have $22? Or, will I lose the $2?
Assuming, I keep re-boosting for $20, every 90 days, the previous credits will/will not go up in smoke?
W/Virgin, you never lose your previous credits, as long as you "Top-Up" every 90 days. So, I've got $$ on my kid's phone that I bought ...

What's the minimum Re-Boost?
If there are still unused Boost credits, will they continue to accumulate?
It looks the Chirp Days, Chat Nights plan would be best for this type of user. Correct?
What are the gotchas? Any suggestions?
Minimum is $20.00
Yes, minutes will roll-over. HOWEVER, the first intial minutes you get on your boost phone is valid for 90 days. Any card you purchase after that is valid for only 60 days. Boost is currently running ...
Do Boost credits ever expire?
I'm considering buying/giving a Boost phone to someone who doesn't really need or use phone on regular basis. This would be for emergency etc. My question/concern is that I don't want to lose any credits if they go un-used. I understand that a re-boost is required at least every 90 days. Correct?

Time Warner Digital Phone & Sprint PCS
Sprint PCS customer who are using Time Warner's Digital Phone service have unlimited home-mobile calling. But, I think you have to order your Sprint service from Time Warner. i.e. this may not apply if you're direct billed by Sprint
Brand Recognition/Eqity
You gotta remember that in the US & worldwide, ATT has huge recognition. Historically, for 100 years, T has been associated w/positive growth.
Over the last dozen years or so, those of us in the industry have recognized that they made many misguided decisions and mismanaged much of their wireline & wireless business operations.
However, much of the $16B SBC paid was for the value of the brand. So, it's not surprising that SBC would change their corp identity ...
Re: Workaround
I'd guess that 1) The work around is NOT as good as their current model. 2) Even if it is similarly as effective, they don't want to incurr the cost/effort to initiate the change, if they can avoid it (by making the NTP issue go away).
Wireline WAN substitution
These bonded channel configs will lend themselves to being able to replace "last mile" access circuits on traditional wired WAN technologies.
I think you can look for Frame Relay & MPLS networks to be delivered by this capability in the future, eliminating the RBOC local local loop.
Sure it would be great to have DS3 speeds to a single laptop. But, I don't think that's the practical application for this.
Re: Launch in the spring under these networks..
Yes. From customer and marketplace perspective, an MVNO is "new cellular company."
They will be using Sprint & VZW's networks, but that's transparent to users etc.
