Re: Jabra BT8010Z vs Jawbone with VX8300
I have not gotten a chance to test it with wind, but have used it in the office and car with good clarity.
It is a slight heavier than the Jawbone, but has not been a problem. I have used it a work all day listening to music with no uncomfort.
Re: Bluetooth and Display?
2)OBEX is not enabled on the Chocolate so you have to use a work around. You need to download Bitpim and set it up with the Serial Protocol. If you have v5 or later on your phone then you need to make other modification to establish a connection.
Re: Jabra BT8010Z vs Jawbone with VX8300
I have both headset that I use with the Chocolate, and I prefer the bt8010. I have used the Jawbone for 2 months and the Jabra for 2 days. The noise-canceling software on the Jawbone will not eliminate wind at all, but is good at everything else. Reason for switch is that the Jabra has stereo capabilty.
Re: SD card
No microsd in package.
Re: Bitpim error When sending or recieving data from phone
It is locked out completely, but I found out that with v5 there might be a workaround. Look here

This could give you some other resources.
Re: Movie
Just go to Get It Now, select the Get Pix and Flix, then My Flix, and select your movie.
Re: bluetooth help PLEASE
As far as I know, there is no workaround to this lockout. The only way to send ringtones is to email it to yourself. This security feature only exists in firmware version 5 and later.
Re: durable??
We've had ours since Christmas, and they have stood up. My gf even left her phone on the bus (she got it back), and it had no problems. Though we also bought covers for them.
Re: Ringtones w/o data cable or bitpim???
Your last option is bluetooth.
Re: Bitpim error When sending or recieving data from phone
I have not seen any work around yet to the new software version 5.
Re: Bitpim error When sending or recieving data from phone
If you have version 05 on your phone then your phone is locked out. Best way is to use a microsd card for pictures and music, but for ringtones you should email it to your phone. Not sure of any other work around.
Re: Transfering Videos
You can transfer the videos to your microsd card, and then onto your PC with a SD adapter. The second option is to use the usb cable and bitpim, and have connect it to your PC.
Re: TouchControls in the Cold
I'm not a big texter. Never saw a need for it, but when I receive one I don't have a problem using it.
Re: TouchControls in the Cold
My gf and I live in NY, and have Chocolates with no problems.
Re: Transfering Videos
Use a microsd card.
Re: micro sd cards
Just make sure you flip the card.
Re: Software v05 approved 1/23/07
What does this mean, and what changes or improvements are stated?
Re: How to set MP3 on my phone as a ringtone??
Are the mp3s you have saved located under My Music or My Ringtones? Just by your statement it seems that they are in My Music which means you saved your music to your card. You then saved some of those songs to the internal memory which is dedicated for the music player. Long story short, you cannot transfer ringtones via that options.
You can use Supfoo514's solution, or you can take a clip of an mp3 like Supfoo514 stated and ...
Re: sending files via bluetooth??
The profile on your computer needs to be set to BTDIAG. After that you need to download Bitpim (www.bitpim.org), set it up to the vx8500, and then you will be able to transfer files over.
Re: Using Bluetooth for Ringtones....
You need to use Bitpim, and set your bluetooth device on your PC to connect via a Serial Port.
Re: mp3's through bluetooth
You need a Stereo Bluetooth Headset.
Re: What do I need?
To use Bitpim, you need a usb cable or a bluetooth unit on your computer. The Music Kit comes with a cable that should work with Bitpim. If you have a microsd card then just put it in the phone, format it, put the card in a SD adapter, and transfer the songs on your PC to the Microsd card.
Re: How do you get MP3's as Ringtones on MicroSD.
Go to My Bluetooth Places and connect use BT Diag. Check to see what Com Port number it is using, and set that within Bitpim.
Re: How do you get MP3's as Ringtones on MicroSD.
The new version of Bitpim does support the vx8500. You have to manually set it up. If you want an easier way to transfer a mp3 ringtone to your phone then email it. You do this by attaching the ringtone in your email, and sending it to yournumber@vzwpix.com. Just make sure the ringtone is cropped and less than 350kb.
Re: Please explain Bitpim....
Go to www.bitpim.org
Re: How do you get MP3's as Ringtones on MicroSD.
You cannot make any file on the micorsd card as ringtones. You have to transfer them via Bluetooth or USB Cable using Bitpim. Mp3s can be used as ringtones, and there are many audio editing softwares to crop songs.
Re: Verizon Push-to-Talk
The whole notion that a 1 sided conversation is wrong in society's eye is dumb. We all have the right to choose what we want therefore that is not a valid reason. It is like someone telling you not to buy an automatic car when you can get a manual one. That way you could save money and gas, but that person might not want to shift all the time (or calling four different people about the same topic). ...

Re: 4650 where are the Analog/Digital icons???
I would take it in to be checked out.
Re: 4650 where are the Analog/Digital icons???
That one I am not sure. If you have a long name on your banner try reducing it to a 5 character word. If you're going into Menu->Settings->Display->Banner then it could be something else.
Re: 4650 where are the Analog/Digital icons???
1x means that you are using the CDMA2000 network, and that will include any roaming partners that VZW has.
Re: What is the Status Light???
The status light is at the top of the phone next to the speaker and antenna.
Re: 4650 where are the Analog/Digital icons???
They icons will only show when you are not in a 1x or digital area. Meaning if you are not in a 1x then you will see the "D" icon, and if you are not in a digital area then you will see the "A" icon for analog. You can also force the phone into those modes, but for what reason.
Re: How can I set this phone to Analog?
Read my previous post.
Re: How can I set this phone to Analog?
To set it to Analog, you have to go into the service menu. Press menu->0->000000
Re: Please DON'T let this come to the USA!
That already happens now, but it does not bother me since I'm a patient person and prepare myself for such scenarios. 8)
Re: Please DON'T let this come to the USA!
:D This is a great idea. PC have standard USB and Firewire ports for every device that exists. This would add more accessories in the long run.
Re: Kodiak PTT Demo that puts CDMA PTT to shame
Like turbodeuce said, that flash demo is based on the original release of PTT in 2003. Kodiak should revise that demo.
VZW's PTT can make an initial connection between 1 and 5 seconds, and volley times around 1 to 1.5 seconds.
Re: Mobile Action Software - anyone tried it?
I use Susteen along with QPST and they both work great. I use QPST for uploading images and ringtones while Susteen I use it for backing up phonebook and maintaining calendar. I also use it to compress my images, and upload them to the phone. The ringtone portion of the program only allows you to upload midi files, but others have stated that there is a work around.
