Kodiak PTT Demo that puts CDMA PTT to shame

I don't believe the delay is really that long. The Nextel delay seemed about right, I think Verizon is very comparable to that.

Cingular reps themselves have admitted the initial delay to connect on their PTT is 7 seconds. That's a long wait time, after that the call volley is about the same as the rest. Let's all be honest, Nextel got it right when it comes to push to talk because of the technology their phones are using. That's their niche, let em have it.

That seven seconds initial connect time is the maximum initial connect time. The minimum is around two and the average is three to four seconds.

After that, the latency on the Kodiak platform between chirps is actually better than Nextel's. It'll definitely give them a run for their money, considering Cingular's size, both in coverage and in customer base.

They are basing it off rev 1 of PTT. The newer system is much faster then that.

Alltel uses Kodiak and it is very quick. And yes leave PTT to Nextel that is really the only competitive point they have here in TAmpa cuz you cannot expect a reliable cellular signal. Everyone I know with Nextel are always "Out of reach" at this moment and it is very annoying!!

Like turbodeuce said, that flash demo is based on the original release of PTT in 2003. Kodiak should revise that demo.

VZW's PTT can make an initial connection between 1 and 5 seconds, and volley times around 1 to 1.5 seconds.
