I am new to Cingular so I dont know what the default pins are for their stuff. What is the default pin (or do they set it to something personal?) for the SIM card, and what about for the phone (like master reset etc)?

I unplug mine in the morning, and if I dont come back to my place im screwed. It wont make it through the night. So also 24 hrs, but I talk on it a fair amount (but not a ton, I doubt I ever spend more then an hour or so combined on my phone in any given day). Thats really crappy IMO. Otherwise its a great phone.

Wow Cingular is already reminding me of VZW (only they have reception and phones unlike VZW). So I called in and the rep transfered me to some other dept, I gave the same story to him he said oh you need to call this toll free number from a landline. Gives me 888 898 7605 I called it, and they guys said welcome to something Window cleaning. I checked the number and that was what he gave me, and it is ...

Cingular Rep Help: Porting # from VZW

in the AT&T forum

After my last post I ended up going to a different store and buying the v551 one there. I have used it for about 2 days now no problems, works just fine. So I decided to go ahead and port my #. Here is the problem, the Cingular acct is in my name. My VZW is a family share plan in my dad's name (but originally started off as a single person plan with my #, he added later). I ...

I obviously was not clear. First, the lady (cingular rep) said if I didnt port my number then it was impossible to switch it later. She also said there was a fee for canceling a #, I said it was for porting the number to a new one, but regardless ok. Also the manager kept trying to offer me the phone for 150-50 (mail in) which is the standard price. BUT he kept doing it in a way as to imply ...

Actually, out of the 7 people I dealt with that day. The ONLY one who was co-operative and spoke english was the one in the call centered that verified my info. So good job there... And as for being Cingulars fault, no not REALLY, but the people in the store were super unskilled in anything cellphone related (ironic since thats your JOB).

They both were at fault to some degree, of course with the retailer being the most at fault. I'll try again, but I guess I will just buy it from cingular directly (maybe over the phone) as that would probably be easiest. Mainly I was giving a heads up as they are a forum sponser :( and really ought not to be. Not one person there speaks english, I am not sure if you guys have that as a ...

Wanted to Switch to Cingular... even tried, but now I dont know

So I decided to switch to Cingular from VZW (which has zero good phones, otherwise no problems, just absolutely no phones). I ordered the V551 from one of the two sponsers of this site (99.99 - 25 mail in, for 1 yr). I checked the order status today to see when it shipped and it said unable to process due to a descrepancy. I called in and got the worst english speaking person ever, after half an hour, he ...

Phone number portability

I have a current Vzw acct, and I want to go to Cingular. Is there a way I can port the # after having the Cingular phone for say a week or two? Since it has I think a 14 day return policy. So I plan to keep the vzw acct active incase I decide to go back to them. Or do I have to port the # at the time of setting up the Cingular acct?

Oh I am hardly a troll. I usually dont rip on VZW... Its really not that bad, Ive had bad experiences but most havent. It just cracked me up when I read a post of someone complaining about a problem I have all the time, that vzw could careless about fixing (eh.. it is whatever you want to say about that) but seeing their cs rep reply saying it isnt common made me want to reply. Thats all..

Oh and I forgot to mention, I have tried to have it fixed. EVERYTIME their solution (both in store, and 611) is oh well there is new software out for your phone let me upgrade it. They have upgraded the software some like 8 times now, that or its push *228...

I have the worlds most inept store manager at the VZW store nearby. He is a large reason I will be leaving VZW once the new phones come out for the "other" company. I got dicked around with the NE2 thing too, I was supposed to have it Oct 2, it showed up, then they took it away... My take... #2 becomes #3, which becomes #4, etc.

HA HA HA HA HA It is a really common problem, it happens to me atleast 2-3 times a day. And 3 of my other friends that live down here in SoCal. When it happens to me up in NorCal as well, and to my friends there. They wont do anything to fix it, i've spent more time dealing with Verizon Cust. Service reps who lied then I care to share. The only solution to the problem is to go ...
