Slanted market education to show that the iPhone is not the be all and end all of smart phones. I myself still prefer the Android OS. Only benefit the iPhone OS would give me is the ability to watch certain movies and audio books from iTunes which the lack of such is not a deal breaker for me.

If you haven't already, read Atlas Shrugged. I enjoyed the book myself but the OP's words are almost taken word for word and adapted for this context from a part where this former millionaire turned pirate talks about why he hates Robin Hood.

I personally think its just good since to send out the message of, "we'll still be supporting this for 10 more years." As much as there are customers itching for the cutting edge of the latest and greatest there are thouse who drag their feet to adopt the new. They will say things like,"this here works just fine why are you forcing me to get something else when what I have does what I want?" I know they will ...

As Stark says in the interview, you can do this already with CDMA phones with sprint. You can use Alltel, Q-West, Cricket, and others too. The hard part is finding someone that knows how.

You can do this now. Verizon doesn't lock their post-paid phones, just their pre-paid phones. They leave the access codes as the manufacture default, 000000. Hope you find someone that knows how to program it though if you try this. :)

You could technically walk into a store now and have this done, the problem is that most reps don't know it or know how to do it. The process is two parts, one is that we just do a simple ESN change in the system to activate your CDMA phone. The second part is a bit more complex and thats actually programming the phone. Most reps these days have never actually programmed a phone they just dialed *228 and ...

That part is true, though VZW's phonebook back up (found at www.getbackupnow.com) doesn't have the ability to sync with outlook, yahoo, or aol and VZw's doesn't have the remote erase. It is true though that its free as long as you sign up for my account, you don't have to be paying your bill there and my account is free.

Careful with that. the feature is only made avalible for certain times of the day (3:30pm-6:00pm pst on the west coast) if the phone is activated with out that feature the customer will be contacted and requested to return the equipment for not getting meeting all our requirements.

From what I understand the 8000 is coming out in Jan or so. They are going to be running a market test on it in San Degio with it's EVDO streaming capablities with about so they are setting up like 500 or something customers with them to see how they like it. These customers are hand picked and got some very firm stipulations to fallow if they accept, but the phone is close to coming out soon.

I think what he is trying to say is that if you were on a GSM system, you could just swap the sim cards but sence you are on CDMA you can't so you have to suffer through stuff like this. Kinda pokeing fun at the situation... At least thats how I took it.

You'll probly have to get it from Sprint. Or Radioshack, in the instruction manual section of their website they used to have the programing instructions for every phone they sold. Don't know if they still do or not, but it's worth a peek.

I work in the with the West area emp orders and if you placed your order before oct 11th your going to be getting the Discounted price for the phone. I can also tell you that we have over 2000 orders for the 9900 for the west area, they are just finishing the 1st's today.... so they are just a weee bit behind.

Well I can't confirm or deny that, but Something I can tell you for fact; all the 9000 series phones were made in Japan, all the 8000 series phones are made in Korea. This would definitely lend to your theory. I also know several of the previous models of the 9000 series often came up as Toshiba in the billing system instead of Audiovox. I do hope so because I have been really leery about recommending Audiovox to customers ...

Hey, no problems, you make some very valid points. Something I posted a week or so ago about the JD power's report among other things is that when it comes to cellular industry, to be the best here is to be the best of one of the most hated industries out there. I think mergers are always a leap in the dark, but like I said, its with a flash light. Each side can get ready all they want but the final outcome wont be seen until the two sides will be pushed together. Of corse Verizon has more to loose, When your in the lead you always have more to loose and when your behind, You only have more to gain. Thats simple logic to me.

Frog, don't be to blind. Remember too that there is two types of change, the sudden and fast ones and the slow and gradual ones. Verizon is changing, making adjustments slowly and carefully while studying the markets as they do it. Releasing certain price plans in certain areas and then doing certain promos in other areas, seeing how the market reacts to the new additions, find what people bite on and what they don't. The quick changes are usually ...

Right now about the only two phone plans that support analog romaon are local digital choice plans (I know it says digital in the name but my understanding is your not charged for any kind of roaming in your home area) and the National Singlerate plans that are expensive as all hell but gives you no roaming charges anywhere you are no matter what the phone says (requires tri mode phone)

I think the biggest hurdle you guys have ahead of you after the merger is approved that I see is the merging of billing systems. I have heard rumors that ATT wireless is going to be kept as reseller due to it's strong brand name, which I can't see causing to much trougle for cingular customers/reps but will be a pain for ATT customers/reps (human nature naturally resists change) but if Cingular decides to just completely get rid of ...

Wow, thats a good question. I can only speculate on this, but I would imagine that Verizon would keep up many of the extended analog agreements as long as they are still needed/profitible. I know when ever someone up in BFE gets trapped in a bear trap while hiking and has a branch fall on their body, and so on and so forth and the person's life is saved from a verizon phone call, verizon loves to talk it ...

No problem, I honestly think that getting selling Licenses for a particular market is probably the 2nd hardest thing for a cell company to try to do next to getting a zoning permit for a tower... it actually is probably harder because the FCC only allows so many slots for an x area and once all those slots are sold-out then no more carriers are aloud there until the FCC opens up more slots.

Re: Cingular, where are you?

Companies Licensed for that zip code: Cell-a: ATT Cell-b: Verizon PCS-a: SprintPCS PCS-B: t-mobile PCS-C-15: nextwave PCS-15b: Nextwave PCS-d: Qwest PCS-E: ATT PCS-f: Verizon. So no, at this time Cigular isn't aloud to sell there at this time, but if the ATT buy out goes through, I guarantee you'll see those ATT stores switching over to being Cigular stores. (unless they do like making ATT a reseller to keep a known brand name out there like what Sprint did to Qwest.)
