This is a fantastic concept and if they can pull it off could lead to a drastic increase of adoption of this technology.

I get that it would make for an extremely robust feature phone, but I don't really get the purpose in removing features like the Android market. Is it so they can put cheaper hardware into the device without having to worry about compatibility? Or does it satisfy the carriers, which want it to use less data to fit under the feature phone category?

To clarify your outraged position on the BB Tour's worth, it's $80 to a current cust or w/out a contract, but it's 429.99 with contract for a new cust. So that is indeed the price.

I've actually heard this quite a bit. I'm not important enough to sync e-mails to my phone though so I haven't run into it myself but I'll do some tests later so I'll have someway to answer next time somebody asks :P Have you already returned it? Or did you already figure it out?

I unfortunately don't have a link, I'm actually on work computers at the moment, which are pretty well restricted :P My comment gave the gist of it. Basically android is very good at managing it so no need to micromanage like on a windows phones. If you hit home and an application goes into the background, forget about it unless you need it again :P

Android is extremely good about managing processes in the background. You have to keep in mind this is not a windows based phone anymore :P When you exit the browser by pressing home it keeps your page in the background but is not actually running. It just keeps a temporary state of the program. The only reason it will actually use up processing and slow your phone down is if you hit home while loading a page it will ...

I honestly don't think there is a way, but it has never really been too much of an issue for me, but then again I'm not a big fan of home pages loading up everytime I open a browser :P. You can just type in the new address on the top of your previous window anyways. I personally would recommend Opera Mini for browsing, especially with USC data services :P. It helps a little with larger pages becauses it compresses ...

I definitely recommend it. I went from a windows mobile device to android as well and it is a huge step up. It does take a little bit to get used to, but after you do it is sooo much more intuitive, and as far as android handsets go I am very pleased with the speed and usability of the Acclaim itself.

Jul 21, 2010, 5:28 PM
in the Samsung Acclaim SCH-R880 forum

Just wanted to see what kind of battery life people are getting out of this phone, and what kind of settings you have on it. I don't auto-sync any programs, only refresh on app startup, moderate texting/web browsing regularly throughout the day, maybe 3 hours combined of straight heavy data use/music/game playing dispersed throughout the day and I'm easily making it through the whole day, usually only hitting 15% right before bed. Usually manage 14 hours at least of ...
