Earlier in the week, the Telegraph had reported that the German parent of T-Mobile had hired Deutsche Bank to consider a possible bid for Sprint. But analysts have been skeptical about the prospects for a deal, with Thomas Weisel Partners yesterday even downgrading the stock. This morning, Bernstein Research analyst Craig Moffett added to the fading sentiment on ...

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Sprint is like the former ATTWS. In a few years, it will be bought and rebranded, and the Sprint name will die forever.

The rumor has faded. DT isn't going to buy Sprint.

but I will just sit back and dwell upon the fact that I am right that it is DEUTSCHE TELEKOM making the bid to buy Sprint and not T-MOBILE USA and that you are wrong and have confused the whole situation because you think DT = T-Mobile when in reality T-Mobile is OWNED by DT. T-Mobile USA used to be Voicestream till DT bought them and rebranded them to T-Mobile.

AT&T may start degrading it's towers just like it did in my city because of all the iPhone users over loading the network. If the MicroCell takes off an is wildly popular, AT&T could simply degrades its towers and force more people to pay for MicroCell. I wouldn't put it past them to make you pay for the service and make you pay for your own coverage too. Double dipping is not uncommon in this country.

DT owns T-Mobile and it is DT, not T-Mobile who is interested in purchasing Sprint. so even though they are in the same family of companies, DT is still a separate entity from T-Mobile USA. T-Mobile is not like AT&T where all subsidiaries are under the AT&T name even though each company is still its own entity legally. eh, it's hard to explain online, but at the end of the day, T-Mobile USA has nothing to do with the potential ...

I think the FCC would approve such a merger but with several stipulations: 1. Nextel would have to be spun off. 2. T-Mobile USA would be required to sell off those markets in which T-Mobile and Sprint would be the only two carriers. (Which means AT&T could gain markets from T-Mobile). 3. DT may also be required to spin off the companies Sprint recently acquired, such as Virgin Mobile and some Sprint affiliates. We shall see what the future ...
