Re: Kyocera Sh!tflip, the all new kyocera alltel phone!
The Strobe isn't designed to be a 'phone' per se, it's designed as a messaging device. I've found that even those with fat finger syndrome can type on the Strobe's QWERTY keyboard with a little practice but as a phone, it's horrible.
If someone wants a phone to do 'phone' things like make and receive phone calls they're better off with the Motorola W315, Nokia 2865i or Motorola E815.
Re: K1 now available! U got robbed with that prce
I got mine for $419.99 ($439.99 with S&H) at http://www.importgsm.com, not as good as $409, but not bad, either.
Should be here tomorrow.
Re: When?
It's available online now. If you're waiting for Cingular to get it (they'll probably be the first GSM carrier to have the KRZR K1) then it should be late 3rd quarter, early 4th quarter 2006.
Re: A few questions please needed answered.
You want the K1m, which is CDMA, the K1 is GSM (Cingular, T-Mobile) and won't work with V-Cast (Verizon) or Sprint's Power Vision.
Cingular does not offer this phone at this time.
It does not come preprogrammed with web or MMS settings, you have to do this manually.
Re: Another POS
Actually, the menu on the K1 is supposed to be much better and significantly faster than previous Motorolas. It is said to load in about five seconds.
Re: wap internet on phone
My screen name is rancidhooligan because I have been listening to Rancid since I was 14 (that's 12 years, for those of you doing the math) my e-mail address is rancidhooligan and several usernames on several forums are rancidhooligan, to keep things uniform, I pretty much always use the rancidhooligan screen name. While the quality of Rancid's music has declined in recent years I sill wouldn't lump them in with Good Charlotte or Blink 182.
Besides, I shower too ...
Re: wap internet on phone
Wrong CellularONE. This forum is for CellularONE-Western Wireless, a CDMA/TDMA carrier... you want CellularONE-Dobson Cellular Systems, which is a GSM carrier.
Re: This might be a crazy idea....
Alltel might get bought out by Verizon but it would be a hostile takeover. I also have a hard time believing the DOJ, FCC, FTC and SEC would approve a merger of that size.
Re: Face It....Throw the towel in....
Why does it even matter who someone has service with? If it works for them, it works for them.
Re: CellularNone
"I smell hopelessness."
To what, specifically, do you refer, neorask?
Free E 105
At T-Mobile.com the Samsung E 105 is currently available for $149.99 with a $149.99 web-only instant rebate... this offer is good through 11/28/04.
Re: wireless landline
No, he means a Tellular unit which is a box that acts like a cell phone. You plug a normal landline home phone into and get service via a cellular (wireless) connection.
There isn't really a way to get it to work in your car as I believe it requires an AC power source and has a roam restriction so it can't use any towers except those in the very immediate area of your home.
Re: New Phones
Hmmm... I guess I wouldn't mind the v810, especially with all the problems with the v710. It looks similar... really I think I'll stick with my Timeport. What I really want is the StarTAC 2004 but I don't know if that's ever going to make it to the states. (Currently it is only available in Korea.)
Re: Bluetooth?
Well, that sucks.
Re: Bluetooth?
Sprint currently offers the Sony Ericsson T608, which is Bluetooth capable.
Re: Cell Towers On I-84 in PA
CellularONE is a GSM provider so if you're using their system but have service with Verizon, a CDMA provider you will be using CellularONE's analog system (if they still have it up after converting from Analog to TDMA to GSM.) It is possible that you are using another carrier's system (such as Sprint) or that CellularONE now has CDMA on their towers to permit roaming.
Re: New Phones
Supposedly an update of the Audiovox 8900 (probably the same or similar model to the one Verizon is now offering with a flash) and some new Motorolas... possibly the v710.
Re: Flashing other phones to use on CellularOne
In order for CellularONE to flash a handset for use on their service they have to currently offer that same model. Since they don't currently offer any LG handsets, they aren't able to flash them... and depending on which Nokia & Kyocera models you are trying to flash they may not be able to flash those either.
Phones you would like to see CellularONE get.
I know the phone at the top of my list is the Motorola v710.
Re: Welcome!
Outstanding, now I can use phonescoop.com's vast resources for my carrier. :)
New Site: Excellent!
I much prefer the new site to the old one, not that the old one was bad or anything. Good job!
