Re: Of course...
It is not working on my Sprint Touch
They are wired headsets
No thanks
Look at the speeds clearwire Wimax gives you
It is 2g
Re: Stick a fork in Qualcomm, they're done! (wrong)
The chip that everyone is so excited about will not be available until 2009 I would not hold my breath. Besides Broadcom does not have a license from Qualcomm to us it's patents in a WCDMA chip.
Re: 3G in the boonies
Sure 3g in your house. Since it is hooked to your broadband connection (if you have it in the sticks) Just use your computer.
Re: CDMA and GSM are screwed
Here are the upload and download speeds offered by Clearwire for WiMax.
downlink up to 768K
uplink up to 256k
this is the regular plan $29.99
downlink 1.5meg
uplink 256k
this is the premium plan $36.99
2 year agreement
This is not mobile service this is stationary so mobile would be slower.
I am not excited
Re: Nokia's CFO
Remember one important point. If you started a company to make GSM phones you would be paying over 18% in royalties.
This works the vest

Re: to make money silly....
There is no comparison, Media flo will have nearly double the frame rate and you can change from channel to channel much quicker. I will not pay $9.99 a month to watch Jerry Springer but it looks like a bunch of people will.
Re: Quallcomm afraid of Nokia?
You are wrong with your statement about Qualcomm always attacking Nokia. Nokia has helped lead a campaign in Europe against Qualcomm. Nokia, along with five other major telecommunications companies, including Ericsson, NEC, Panasonic Mobile, Broadcom and Texas Instruments, filed individual complaints in 2005 asking the European Commission to investigate what the group called Qualcomm's “anti-competitive conduct.”. Nokia has tried to stop Qualcomm from getting a foothold in Europe from the beginning. They has cost carriers Billions because they lied ...
They meant GSM
Newer versions of GSM that use Edge to speed up data use some Qualcomm patents.
Re: They had this phone at the Qualcomm shareholder meeting
The phone was from Korea and was running media flo. Currently there are Media flo towers set up in San Diego for beta testing.
Re: One Word: UGLY!
This phone does not have Media flo so far Verizon has committed to it.
Re: One Word: UGLY!
Media flo does not use the wireless bandwith. It is transmitted on the frequencies given up by UHF stations going digital. I think it will be a big market. It's not something I would buy but I could see the demand for it.

They had this phone at the Qualcomm shareholder meeting
It was running MediaFlo
Re: Knock My Socks Off
You need to come to southern California. It's third world here.
Re: Knock My Socks Off
This is a great phone for third world countries. Since the United States is quickly becoming one why can't we have this phone.
Re: Coming in 07! ! ! !
This is a feature that they are looking for the future
Re: Coming in 07! ! ! !
It's not just the ability to watch TV. Media flo will allow you to receive push email, constant weather sports scores and any other data you need. It will keep the cell frequencies less used so more spectrum for outgoing data and phone calls.
Re: So... what about existing customers...
Here in San Diego Cox was a patner and part owner of the Sprint operation but sold out after a year or so.
Seems a dual mode phone would make more sense
Have a deal with a current cell provider to roam when no satellite signal is available.
Nokia does not know how to make 1X-DO Chipsets
They need to buy these phones from companies that use Qualcomm chips
Remember when MOT stole a mock up of a Qualcomm Q phone
Now they stole the name.
They promise this every year
The only good CDMA phines they have ever had were made in Korea by Panatech with Qualcomm chips. Do a search of old press releases and they are the same every year.
