of course in the wireless industry 2 years is a long time. in 2 years lte could be what tdma is today. or even worse it very well could go the way of evdv 8O
I agree that technology changes quickly and lte may be old news one day. One important point to keep in mind is that this industry is supporting wimax and lte. Without that support, any alternate technology will be ignored. The next step is ...
Re: Why Rev A?
Actually, it's the wave of the future. If an overhaul needs to be done, it will be done as long as it's profitable. Look at what happened in the late 80's. Verizon said it will go digital and they did. In fact, they shut down analog areas this year.
Re: The news

If you are referring to LTE, that is not a GSM technology. LTE is compatible with CDMA or GSM. The only reason VZW chose LTE is because Vodafone which is a part owner of VZW supports it. Vodafone will be helping VZW develop LTE. Now if you've read the financials of both AT&T and VZW, you'll know that both companies are neck and neck. They are ...
Re: verizon number 1!!!!!!
Well it's 30.00 more for Nationwide Select Family Share plans.
Re: wouldn't it be nice
Yes it would be but when someone's unhappy with their service, what's one of the first things that the person will say? Do you have this plan? "Blank Company" that I'm fed up with doesn't and I'll leave them in a heartbeat if you do. I'm sure Verizon customers complained about not having Rollover minutes. AT&T customers complained about their text plans until recently. As much as they want to be different, they all must be competitive. It's a ...
Re: "Even" MetroPCS?
There will be a demand for the unlimited plans. For example many businesses will pick these plans. They always have conference calls which are costly in minutes. Also, some people I know have been waiting for an unlimited plan so they don't have to count the minutes. Now, you mentioned that you will go to T-Mobile once their 3G is up. Don't forget that AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless already have their 3G and are working on 4G. Sprint ...
Re: Sprint not getting on the bus?
ooops. I meant Sprint will come out with one once the testing is over.
Re: Sprint not getting on the bus?
Sprint will come out with one since the testing is over. Don't forget that Sprint lost many customers during their fourth quarter last year. Also, high executives were fired and a new CEO was named. Once the dust clears, I'm sure they will be making a big announcement of their new national unlimited plan.
Re: 4G...here we come!!!
It will be up and running in about 2010 but the technology is being tested this year.
Re: What should Google do?
You bring up some good points. The open access requirement for owners of the C Block seems like it's a reality thanks to Google. But now what? Google may or may not start a new wireless division. Now, the auction isn't over yet and there is new bidding activity for C Block (individually instead of as a complete package). We don't know the names of the companies bidding, just the highest bids.
All of this is speculation but whatever ...
Re: Dont worry about Verizon winning
I'll look at Vodafone's financials. Didn't realize you were including that. Now, this is food for thought. Everyone seems to think Google made the latest bid. No one knows for sure since only the top bids in this auction are released. I'm thinking Verizon made this bid because they are expanding their data coverage based on what I read on the website. Getting these airwaves is another way to do it. Since they are opening their network anyway, they ...
Re: Dont worry about Verizon winning
Not sure where you are getting your info but this is what I got from the Verizonwireless website:
4Q 2007 HIGHLIGHTS
37 cents in EPS and 62 cents in adjusted EPS (non-GAAP), compared with 4Q 2006 EPS of 48 cents and 52 cents, respectively, from continuing operations.
$23.8 billion in revenues, up 5.5 percent; up 5.6 percent on an adjusted basis (non-GAAP).
This is just the fourth quarter report. Looks good to me. Verizon could win the auction for C Block.
I also ...
Re: LTE only for Verizon - WRONG!
With all the information that's out there about this and the other 4G technologies, it will be interesting when they do roll out. Seeing specs on paper and testing is one thing, but actual performance on the nationwide networks is another. Hopefully it's as good or better than what's expected.
