Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

Does the V551's calendar allow for any additional text fields besides the title of the event? One of the most annoying things about my T721 is that the calendar has just one text field, so it knows that "Sally's Birthday Party" is at 21:00 but it can't tell you Sally's address or what brand of malt liquor Sally likes.

Also, another post said that Bluetooth sync with OSX is buggy... can anyone elaborate?

Do any of you have cases for this phone yet? I have looked just about everywhere and NO ONE has cases.
I am brand new to the world of cameras on phones. Will the pictures still take perfectly fine with the plastic from a case over them? Do I need a special case with a hole in it for the lens or will the plastic on the case not interfere?
And if anyone knows where I can get a motorola brand case (or one made SPECIFICALLY for the V551...I don't want a general fit one), please let me know!

Is there any way to delete the ringtones and wallpapers with the little "lock" symbol on them? I want to clear up my memory for pictures and ringtones and stuff but can't delete things like the obnoxious "Moto" tune. What's worse, I bought a new ringtone ($2.50!) off the Cingular website and see that it also has the little lock. I can't even delete songs I downloaded myself????

So, I work as an independent reporter, and much of work requires foreign correspondence in far-flung places. I’m interested in Motorola’s RAZR V3 and the V551 for the following reasons:

-Both are quad band
-Both are unlocked GSM world phones
-Both have Bluetooth (which would enable me to access the internet with my Mac laptop)
-I can use Cingular service

I don’t have any use for the video, camera, or game features – they’re nice, but I don’t really need them. Anyway, I’m told that there’s basically no difference between these two phones, except for the style (and cost) of the V3. I therefore have two question: Is that really the case, or is there something that separates these phone (and if so, which would you recommend), and; i...

I'm looking for some info about V551 and bluetooth. Can I get on the Internet with an XP laptop that is bluetooth capable? Can I download or sync contacts from MS Outlook? Can I download or sync calendar from MS Outlook? If so, where can I find more info about how?

I was wondering if anyone could shed a little light on my problem. I don't live in the us. and i want this phone but my phone companies don't have it here. So i was considering buying it and then inserting my local sim card. I don't want 1 with a cingular stamp to be honest and even so i cant get 1 with a plan cus as i said im not in the us. I was considering ordering off ebay but i don't know any1 with an ebay account. So therefore, i'm wondering if anyone could help in how i can get the phone without a plan, just the handset.

I have not had a phone for 4 years (don't ask).
Well now I have a v551 and want to connect to it using my laptop and a dlink dbt-120. This forum has helped me to see the phone but now the software wants a PIN, and won't connect because I have not furnished one. When I go into security>passwords I have to know the old simpin2 pin to change to a new one. Cingular has not been any help helping me to get this Pin. Is this the Pin the bluetooth APO wants?

Also what is Security> SIM PIN > on/off I have it off. The manual for this phone sucks

I just purchased the V551 today along with the HS 810 blue-tooth headset. My problem is with voice dialing from the headset. When i press the button to voice dial i get the beep, say the name, the name shows up on the phone but it never dials it. I have no other problems with it. But i really want this feature to work. I have it set so the headset can voice dial. Has anyone had any experience with this and been successful. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Whats the point of completely hands free if you have to open the phone to make the call. Thank you

I never heard my phone ring with my last Motorola. I'm not a belt clip person- my phone is in my purse. Can anyone tell me if they turned up the ringer volume with the V551?

I purchased the v551 on Tuesday (or did I get it on Monday? I wish I could remember!!). Anyway, I charged it up all night on Tuesday. By Wednesday night it was dead (in fact, it died mid-convo). Then I left it on the charger all Wednesday. It died again tonight! I haven't been talking on it excessively or anything either. I had a Samsung SGH-X427. That thing had a battery that seemed to last forever. I was in NY for 4 days and I don't think I had to charge it even once.
So, is anyone else noticing an extremely short battery life or is it possible that I have a defective battery???

like sparks, only they last longer, like tiny flames. Seems dangerous.

Nothing major, prolly a software problem but it has happened on two phones so far. First one was returned, second one acted up within an hour.

Problem is: Inside screen sometimes shows garbage or all white screen when you open the flip. First noticed when I got the first call, opened the flip and saw a raw white screen and no amount of button hitting would clear it. In order to see the screen again I had to close it, then re-open it and the screen would appear correctly.

I am using a phonecam pict as the background. Matter of fact, I just opened the flip and again with the all white screen, close it and reopen and presto, there's the background again with all info.

On the past two Moto's I have owned (V600 & V551) I have not been able to get the Calendar function to sync properly using either Outlook or the Phone Tools Calendar. It will sync some events, but not all. I have not been able to find a rhyme or reason for it. Anyone have suggestions or similar problems?

I dunno what gives with this phone. I have occasional white screens, which I assume will be fix with the next firmware upgrade, so I'll be patient. But I find every time I make a call near the highway, I hear CB radio bleed over, loud and clear! I was talking to my girlfriend today, and I hear some guy announcing a "bear trap" on 1-70.

Later, while talking to my office, I hear what sounds like some truck stop hooker trying to set up a rendezvous with "Grizzly Bob". Try explaining this to your boss!

Anyone else having this problem? I'm taking this to Cingular tonight to see if they can fix this.

I keep getting a "file type not recognized" message when I transfer mp3 files to my phone. What is the process for using my mp3 files as ringtones? I'm using a Mac with bluetooth.

I'm using a Mac and transfering my mp3 file to my phone using bluetooth. The transfer goes fine but I then get a message that says file type not recognized. Am I doing something wrong?

I have a question i have this phone and thought it strange that every time u record video it does it in different lenghths. What i mean by this is if i make a video that sometimes its 6 secods sometimes four seconds. When i make a video with the maximum lengnth i had one video that was a over a minute and some 40 seconds. I guess my question is there a way to regulate how long the movie clips are? 🙂
