Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

I just got a V551 on monday and have traveled from Jacksonville, FL to Baton Rouge, La on I-10 and have not been able to connect for any of the feeatures requiring GPRS. The symbol for GPRS available has never shown on the display. When I activated this phone I requested the Media package for 19.99 per month but do not seem able to use it. Is there some setting I need to change in order to access the GPRS?

I am using my V551 bought from Cingular outside the united states. I can't figure out how to get the phone to indicate that i have a voicemail. I read the instructions but it still does not show up that I have received a message. My cell phone provider says that everyything seems to be working. Can any one help with this problem.

Will and unlocked V551 from www.amazon.com come with a cingular stamp at the bottom like one with a service plan???

I am new to Cingular so I dont know what the default pins are for their stuff.
What is the default pin (or do they set it to something personal?) for the SIM card, and what about for the phone (like master reset etc)?

I just got a v551 phone. Does anyone know how to change the # of rings before it kicks into voicemail? Please help....

how much does it cost to get a v551 w/out a contract? 🙂

I'm a noob to Motorola cell phones, so please bear with this question.

I'd like to able to transfer photos, ringtones, games and contacts between my phone and my PC. This should be easy with my wife's v220 as it has a USB port and is an established model. However, the V551 is new, and I'm going to have to buy equipment either way to get access to it.

So which is better/easier to use? The Bluetooth or the USB cable? I have an iPaq that has bluetooth ... would I be able to use that to transfer the stuff? That would probably be the most cost effective, but would I need the PhoneTools software or could I just do the transfers with a direct connection? Also, if I have to buy something to have it talk to my PC, which works ...

Well i was suppposed to be getting a Motorola A630 for Xmas.. Butt since it wontt be coming out untill January i guess im geting his one (was second on my lil list thingy) theres nothing wrong with this phone im just not used to getting traditional cell phones. i just wanna know, is there was clip or plastic holster. (not the leather ones) does it ship with one.

At times, P2K will connect to my phone, and others it won't.

I think it could be the cable, because it doesn't snap it like you would think it should. And on the back it says Nextel i730.

Am I missing something? I've got my BT adapted working in SP2. I can edit phonebook entries, but multimedia studio won't connect to the phone. Can't transfer images, ringtones, anything. Drag and drop, nothing happens. Right click, copy to phone, "processing failed." Right click, transfer, "Transfer failed."

Ideas?

Ok, I've downloaded about 10 different files (PkTools, Mobile Phone Tools, etc)

But I always get a driver error, it will detect my phone, says Found New Hardware v551 but it shows that the devise may not work properly.

I have tried different USB Ports, as well.

Anyone have a link to the newest/best driver?

First time Motorola owner. Had the phone about a month. Battery life is 2-3 days with no Bluetooth enabled and low to average phone calls/internet use. Saw someone mention the V620 coming out soon and checked the specs. Looks to be about the same size but the battery life is twice that of the V551. Can you buy that battery and use it in the V551 and get longer battery life? Or does Motorola do something to prevent this between models?

I accidently changed the right soft key that was preset for video capturing. When I went to change it back, I found that video capturing is not one of the options. Does anyone know how I can get video capturing reassigned to the right soft key?????

Can someone, if there is, tell me what the problems are with this phone?? I just want to know because I'm going to get it in a couple of weeks and I wanted to know what I would end up with. Or has anyone not had problems? 🙂

Anyone having any problems with low signal strength on the V551 when inside a building or home. I have an LG C1300 and a Samsung. They both seem to have excellent signal strength compared to the Motorola.

i am going to start a new cingular plan soon and was wondering if the v620 is worth the wait. the v551 has edge and the v620 doesn't, but that doesn't matter a whole lot. should i jump on the v551 or wait?

What kind of TFT does the V551 have? Transmissive, reflective, or transflective?

reqwireless makes an html browser for the v600. however i dont know why they do this as these type of phones dont have enough internal memory to load html. so the viewer is pointles.

i have the iogear bluetooth usb adapter. everything is fine except that i can't send files to my computer but i can send files from the computer to phone. is there something that i need to do?
