Changing Default for Predictive Text

Does anyone know how to change the setup so that when I start to compose/reply to a SMS message, the predictive t ext option the default. On my last phone (Pannasonic), the phone kept the settings from the last SMS that I sent. With the Moto phone, it seams to always default back to just Abc123.

Thanks,
Austin, TX

PS> Am I too picky or is the Moto V551 manual one of the worst manuals out there???!

Flashing Lights

It's not a very important feature, but I am just wondering, does the V551 have a service light or any sort of light that flashes when a person is calling? Thanks.

Blue Tooth - how to always keep on?

I just purchased a V551 and am a novice user. My car has BT functionality and I'd like to set my V551 to always be looking for a BT connection so that it automatically finds my car anytime I step in or out of my car. Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, is there a short cut to activating the BT and finding/accepting a device? The manual has NOTHING on this.

Thanks!

most motorola phones vibrate and then stop and begin ringing when set on vibrate+ring

very simple question:

Can this phone ring and vibrate at the same time?

Does anyone sell different faceplates for it?

I would love to get an all blue version of the faceplate instead of just a partially blue one.

where can i get this phone UNLOCKED??

Since I don't want to pay the $300 for the V551 without the 2 year contract, the guy at Cingular suggested I buy an unlocked one. Does anyone know of any places that sell these (besides E-bay)?

551 and 850 Mhz

Has the issue the 600 had with the 850 Mhz band been fixed on the 551?

V551 vs. L1400

I'm about to re-up with Cingular for another two years, and i wanted to get a good phone this time. I am down between the LG L1400 and the V551. They both seem to have great features and both look good as well. What I like about the LG is that it has an external color screen, and in person the flip felt more sturdy when opening. The V551 has 5mb of memory, more personalization, a clearer screen (it looks sharper to me), and speakerphone. So, im stuck between the two, but i have a feeling i should go with the v551 although I really like the L1400. Does anyone have any opinion between the two??

v551 has less talk time

I noticed that the v551 only has 3.75 hours of talk time compared to the 7.5 of the v620 or the 6.5 of the v505. Has anyone noticed that their phone was dying quickly, and does the speakerphone drain the battery a lot? I haven't purchased this phone yet and am contemplating whether or not to wait fot the v620. Any advice?

Speakerphone stopped working

Which is strange. Cingular won't exchange it until after the first month so I'll have to call Motorola tomorrow (they're already closed for the day). Anyone experience this problem?

V551 Vs V600

My wife has a replaced V600 and still experiences dropped calls when on the Extended network and low earpiece volume (speaker phone or not).

Has the 551 improved these things?

Is the dropped call on Extended network a function of a 32k sim rather than 64k?

Thanks...

If I get the 551 I'd be breaking a Vzw contract, so I want to be sure it's the right decision.

anyone had this problem?

this morning after charging my phone overnight i turned it on and pushed the send key to bring up my dialed calls and it just froze on me. i had to take the batt out and reboot it and it started working normally.
i also experienced another problem last night. when i pushed the camera button to capture a picture the speaker started making some screeching sound.
i have only had this phone since monday. it seems to working fine at this point now but i am worried.

V551 or V600

I'am in the middle of the Cingular & ATTWS trasitional period. I'am an employee & in need of a phone. Should I go with the V600 or the V551? I have heard of the handoff problems with the V600 on the 850 network. I have heard that this was the reason this phone was discontinued. Can anyone in an 850 majority network elaborate? Here are my uses with a phone:
Definitely need Bluetooth
Definitely a great speaker phone
Edge or GPRS no matter, I do not use the internet very often even if its free for me.
Camera - don't really matter.

I love the looks of the V600 but Iam concerned with the 850 mhz problems I keep hearing about.

I like the fact that the V551 has everything an more than the V600 but definitely hate the looks of the cheap bl...

what's better??

Hi, 😁 I wanted to know is a moto v220 a better deal and buy than the v551, because I'm going to get one of the two in a month. Right now I have a Nokia 3595, and I want a camera phone. I want speaker phone on it, which they both have, I also noticed the v551 had video which I thought was neat. Which one is more user friendly?? I would rather get the v551, but everyone states many problems with it and the v220. Also the screen on the v220 is small, unlike the v551.
thanks 😁
