v551 VS. v400...any differences

i see there aren't really any physical differences, but how about the menus, features? i heard the vibe & ring profile is gone. is that true? what else has changed?

i need to get rid of my v400. right now i have a replacement and it's just as bad as my first one...always freezes.

Wirefly.com

I am currently a ATWS, soon to convert to Cingular. Am I able to use Wirefly.com to get this phone and convert my service at the same time?

Thank you!

Got my V551 today

I got my phone today at my local Cingular store here in Ohio. The guy told me they had them for 10 days but they were just allowed to sell them today. After a rebate for 2 years the phone is $99.99. This is my first Motorola. The camera is alright I am really not that impressed with it so far but I just got it today we will see how things go. Finally I got this phone I have been waiting forever!

using as wireless modem for laptop?

Has anyone been able to use this phone a wireless modem for your laptop? It would be really nice to get EDGE on the laptop, but I've heard reports that Cingular does not support this phone as a wireless modem.

V551 or V600

Does the new 64k Sim card work with either phone? I know that it works with the V551. Thank you

I was looking through the features for the V551 and I didn't see that there were any games.. is this true? It's not that big of a deal for me.. it's just something I do during my breaks at work

Bluetooth Connection to Internet

I have been waiting for a long time for this phone to come out, and am very happy with it so far. However I bought this so I could connect to the internet using my Palm T3. I can dial number s from my palm via bluetooth, but when I try to connect to the internet with web pro on the T3 the thing just keeps going in a loop of "Initializing Cingular GPRS" and "Signing On". Does anyone know what I have to do on my phone and my palm to get this connection to work.

Thanks

Cingular store or online

Will Cingular have any incentives or deals online or at the stores for the 551? I stopped by my local store today and they told me thet $199.00 with a $50 mail in rebate for 1 yr and $100 for 2 year. Which is not much of a deal. It doesn't include tax.

Bluetooth earpiece

I see that the HS810 cost more but that is probably due to the folding mic but it only has 1.1 not 1.2 BT. but the HS820 is less has 1.2 BT. Has anyone had experince with either or their opinion.

Data pricing

So why is it that Cingular and Verizon both have unlimited data priced at $79.00 a month??? I mean really that is a third of my DSL and it is still slow. Why not drop it down to like $20-25 a month and get my users? With all the new phones having data abilities they could capture a market piece with new users. I would think Cingular would with there new Edge and all the new ATT customers? Although their calling plans are close, Cingular seem to be a little cheaper on some plans. I would think dropping the price would push those customers on the fence to their side and think of all the new revenue on exisiting custmers. $20 a month extra 🙂

SEMI-BREAKING NEWS!!!!

I just happened to be on Cingular-specific Motorola's Website and in the Current Lineup portion the V551 and the MPx220 is now listed on there. Going by the time that the phone is on that current lineup, actual arrival of the phone(s) is about 2-3 weeks. Dummy phones should be arriving within next week or two.

Thought I'd let you know.

Can you bluetooth the internet to your laptop/PDA?

Ok, here's what I want to do.
I am planning to get a flipstart soon ( www.flipstart.com ) and would like to have hi speed data on the go.

I would like to bluetooth the internet (hi speed data preferred) from my phone to my laptop/palmtop. Will any carriers allow this?

What about us "ATTWS" Customers

I am an "ATTWS" customer and I want this phone too! I like my current plan and don't want to switch to the "Cingular" network at this time.

Is this phone going to be made available to us?

Availability ???

It's great to finally see a couple of reviews on this phone. However, both reviews are from people who work for Cingular and have won the phone in a company contest.

For all of us not working in the cellular industry...

When can we walk into a Cingular store (in Dallas, Texas) and buy this phone??? It was on the Cingular web-site earlier in the week for $149.00 but has been removed. (2 yr. contract)

blue part rubbery?

Just curious... 😉

To the two people who wrote the reviews (or anyone else who knows), what do you mean by the blue part of the phone having a rubbery feeling to it? It's hard to tell in the pictures. I thought it was more along the lines of the hard blue shell that the V300 has. Someone wanna explain it to me?

Voice dialing

Does anyone know if the voice dialing is going to be dependent or independent dialing?
