Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

Is there a way to turn off the AIM message recieved "bleep" that happens when signed on with the java AIM client? It plays even when the phone is on vibrate. I find this annoying.

Also, are there V551's that don't have the video capabilities? If not ATT must disable it here.

Can I use Camera with the phone closed or no ?? Also does anyone know if Motorola V635 will be released for cingular or not. or I am better off getting 551.

Looking for inputs on the performance of the Motorola S9642A Bluetooth car unit. Anyone have it? Looking at the performance of it; how the speaker sounds and how the person on the other end of the line thinks of it. No one here in Tampa has an operational unit to "try out" before I order it on-line and install it.

Hey all. I'm a Verizon customer and thinking of switching to Cingular. If I stayed with VZW, I'd go with the v710. If I went with Cingular, I'd go with the v551. I know this isn't the best place to get an unbiased answer, but is the v551 equal to the v710? Seems that they are equal except for a few things such as transflash card on the v710.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Just go the v551 and trying to figure the capabilities/limitations of the bluetooth implementation.

1. Is there any way to sync or at least manually send/receive individual addresses via bluetooth from my PDA or PC without mobile phone tools? I'm transferring picture and video files just fine via BT w/o MPT.

2. The Cingular rep told me that I would be able to connect to their EDGE network via bluetooth without a data plan - it would just come out of my monthly minutes. Cannot figure out how to do this. Can anyone confirm whether this is true? I can connect to the phone using the BT modem profile, but it appears that I need to have my own ISP and therefore would only be getting dial-up speed (ugh).

What do I need to send images or mp3s to my v551 ?? Just a bluetooth adapter ? Do i need software to install the bluetooth adapter? Thanks alot..

I am trying to figure a way to make the phone vibrate at the same time the ringer is going. Don't even know if it can be done. But I have had two different brand phones that did have that.

I know you can make the v551 vibrate and then ring, but what I am looking for is a way to make a ringtone and program it to vibrate during the ringtone.

Downloaded about 75 Java (J2ME) games. I have already figured out how to load ringtones via bluetooth...how do I load games via bluetooth?

I just got my V551, so this might be old news to some. I just hate to read all the threads before I post. Anyways, I have a HP iPAC 2215 PocketPC that has BT. I loaded .mp3 files on to the PPC, established a link with the V551 and in seconds I was transfering .mp3 ringtones to my new phone. You also have the ability to transfer your pictures and video off the camera onto the PPC. Now I just have to find a free mp3 editor that I can "slice" mp3s with and make new ringtones. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. I am willing to start up a "free ringtone website."

How do you do a 3-way call on the V551? The manual says after you've dialed the second number, to press the Link key, but there's no reference to any Link key in the diagram of the phone on page 1. Am I missing something here?

Is there any spacific BT earpiece that works best for the V551 or is it more a matter of personal preferance?

Anyone know how to email an MP3 to your phone and download it? I have talked with Cingular and they have no Clue! ! ! Also I have tryed the cabel and software from Motorola Guess what it didn't work!

I have my phone set on "vibrate then ring". It will vibrate for a couple seconds, then start playing the ringtone.

well how the hell do you get it to keep vibrating? this is the stupidest phone in the world.

Has anyone successfully gotten their V551 to read AOL email via Cingular? It's *supposed* to work, but when I use the browser to go to mymobile.aol.com I get an error saying the page cannot be displayed. OF course AOL and Cingular are pointing the finger at each other and seem to be clueless about the problem.

Just became a Cingular customer, was ATT. Got the 551 last night at 6pm central time. The phone did not recieve calls or atleast didn't get a message that I could recive calls for 3 hours after migrating my old number. I tried to call custmer service They are only open like m-f 8-6pm !!! 😳 😲 What the F@@K!! atleast ATT had 24/7 CS Then they have after hour emergancy number which nobody ever answers the call!!! BAD BAD BAD service so far.

Hey everyone, i just got a v551 and im new to this whole bluetooth thing. I already have mobile phone tools and would like to transfer mp3's to my phone. I have the 1mb per month internet plan and was wondering if transferring mp3's to my phone via bluetooth would use up some or all of that 1mb. Or is the transfer of files from my laptop to my phone not associated with that at all?
