My Impressions

Got the phone today. First off, the reason I bought it was size. The v710 had all the bells and whistles but for me, the size was most important. I miss my old v60 and even though it's not as small it's a lot better than my old t730.

Screen is small. On top of that, after stepping out of the store in the bright sunlight, it was difficult to see the screen. Moto switched the Send/End buttons so for me that's something to get use to. The "Smart Key" is back but you can't assign it anything because it's the speakerphone button. That's a shame because in the v60 I made it my phonebook button. No worries though. Also, the fact that the date isn't shown on both the internal and external screens is a major inconvenience in my eyes. Spe...

Question on GetItNow apps?

The first day I had the phone I noticed that the Accuweather app had both a subscription for 2.99 and an unlimited option for 5.99. When you choose the unlimited option, does that mean that the app can be used anytime with only airtime being used? The next question is, I didn't choose either one, and now when I go into the GetItNow screen and the unlimited option is not there. Is there a way to get it back? or do those things change consitantly?

Thanks,
Ryan

v265 replaces my a670 [longish comparison]

Just replace my THIRD a670 w/ a v265 on Saturday. So far, the v265 rocks!

I'm a 30-something Dad, light phone user, 5-6 short calls a day. I'm not interested in Cameras, Texting, Funky ring tones or Games. I'd like to access the web for news and scores, but that's about it. I never abused the a670's. Never dropped them or left them on the dash on a sunny day. Just went to turn them on in the morning one day and they wouldn't. Tech guys found no abuse or other reason--they just wouldn't work (batteries were fine--all three "died" in less than a month.

I admit I'm a Moto-loyal customer (3 Moto Nextels in the past 6 years) and bought the Samsung as a two-for-one deal w/ my wife.

Samsung A670:
The a670 has cool bells and whistles, bu...

V265 is a VERY GOOD phone but manual sucks, how can I...

First let me say I dint see what people are complaining about. The material is fine very lightweight and durable (what do you want from plastic huh?) Sounds great, speakerphone is topnotch and buttons are reponsive. Screen IS NOT DULL, just adjust the contrast and its fine. Its a little small but so what its not a PDA its a cell phone. The camera is O.k at best. But what do want with a cell phone? 5mp? go buy a REAL camera.
MY only problem is that the manual SUCKS ASS.anybody know how to......:

1. Show the date on the external display? and Internal display.
2. Make animations (Phone comes with some default one which are very cute)
3. How can I add my mp3 as my ringtone? I tried pixplace which can send sound files to your phone but it s...

Accessories for V265

I'm sorry if this has been covered already, but I am considering upgrading my Moto V120e to the v265. My question is, what accessories from my 120 are compatible w/ the v265?

Thanks in advance for the help.

First Impressions - Goodbye Moto

I'm looking to replace my V60i and after the disappointing V710 (forget the bluetooth and camera issues, the low ear piece volume made it unusable outdoors), I had pinned my hopes on the V265. What a waste of time.

I saw a mock up today in a Verizon kiosk at Circuit City. It looked pretty awful in terms of materials and construction. Later on I was able to try working models at a Verizon corporate store. The phone exterior is only fair. The plastic is decent, but on the two samples I looked at had little bits of waste plastic on the edges (as if the pieces hadn't been trimmed when removed from the molds). The outside display is nicely visible even with the back light off.

The real trouble starts inside. The main display is dull, even ...

How do I get rid of the "Verizon Wireless" banner on my phone?

I just got the V265 today and overall, I am quite happy with it so far. I'll need to spend some time with it over the next week or so to get a complete opinion on it. The only thing that really bugs me so far is that the Verizon Wireless banner on the phone covers the date. Before the phone was activated, I was playing with it and the date was in the upper left corner. After the sales rep activated the phone to my account, the Verizon Wireless banner replaced the date, with not option in the menu to get rid of it. Does anyone know how, if it is even possible, to remove this banner, or move the date to the lower left corner? I can't believe that they would overwrite something important like the date with "verizon wireless". My phone al...

Any other new phones coming out for Verizon soon?

😒
I'll tell ya, first I was excited about the v710 before it came out, then played around with the phone in person and was very disappointed. Similar case with this phone- I was all psyched up for it to come out and then once I played around with it at Radio Shack my reaction was, "That's it?" Aside from the look of the phone, not really too impressed. I thought Id be able to look past the screen size, not to mention the quality of the screen, but I guess they were more important to me than I thought.

Does anyone know of any other Verizon Wireless phones coming out over the next few months? I'd like to determine whether it makes more sense to pick up one of these v265s or wait until something better comes out n the near future. ...

Screen Quality

I have done alot of research for a new phone, and was excited to see this one coming out as it seemed nearly perfect for me. 😁 I have been to several radioshacks but none of them have a working unit. ☹️ For those of you that have seen the screen; is it just poor quality bad πŸ˜• , or is it not even worth having a color screen because it is so bad πŸ‘Ώ . I'm not really interested in the camera and may wait for the v260, that is unless the screen is horrible. The other phone I am considering is the v300, which I love the quality and solid feel of it, but once again don't want the camera. I think a one year contract with the v260 will not be to expensive, and if a better phone comes out I will just upgrade. Any thoughts?

V265 Vs. V710 (which one to buy?)

HI,
I've read all the reviews regarding these two phones and there were all very mixed. Has anyone sat the phones side by side? What really helps me make up my mind is:
1. Screen clarity
2. Speakerphone
3. Reception
4. Batterylife
5. Durability of phone ( does it withstand scuffs ect.)
6. Volume
7. how well the ringers sound, maybe this falls with speakerphone?
8. Drop calls

I think motorola makes the best phones besides nokia but ive read very bad things and very good things about these phones. Im really tech savy but i make poor buying decisions. I really dont care about bluetooth, and how well the camera works. I really cant decide which one to buy. If you can have only one phone, which one to get? Can someone please give me...

mini review

Bottom line: There are pros and cons to the v265... it comes down to your priorities for a phone. None of 'em are perfect. If camera and screen quality are not top on your list of priorities for a phone, this is a good choice.

Admittedly, the screen is not great. The prob. is not so much its size, but it's quality ... just very dull. As far as the camera ... I only want it on my phone for pics at the moment when I wish I had a camera. With the v265, I'll definitely trade camera quality and screen size/qualilty for a smaller size phone and better battery life, both of which the v265 have. Maybe I'll change my mind when someone makes a small (size of the v265 or smaller) phone with a print-quality camera. I would say the price shoul...

Bought the v265 it and returned it...

Functionally this is a great phone! The service and reception is wonderful. It was pretty easy to use and the extended antenea did increase the reception in a few borderline areas. Small, light and compact BUT the screen quality and picture quality sucked so bad I couldn't bare to look at it. I had the contrast as light as it could go and could still barely make out the images, the color was terrible! If you're not going to use the camera at all this is a great phone. I actually don't have a real use for a camera but it's nice to be abe to make out the home screen. I've since switched to the LG vx7000, which I'm giving up a little of the motorola quality and reception but it's well worth it. I wonder what motorola was thinking when they appr...

Played with it a Radio Shack

Took it out and fooled around with it today at Radio Shack. It looks cool, but the screen is unclear and dim, almost as bad as the T730. Screen is very small as well. Pictures taken with it looked like crap. I was told the cost would be $49.99 with my β€œnew in two.” I have always had Motos from my first Micro Tac and I really wanted to stick with Moto, but after seeing the Audiovox 9900 for free with β€œnew in two,” I am going to have the go with it. I just hope it works as well as others are saying.

VX6100 vx V265

I was decideing between this and the 6100. I have the v710 and it has an absolutely terrible camera and the flash is a flashlight(pointless!). I'm not real fond of getting another Motorola and LG has been known for some quality phones. My big question is does the V265 have a flash?

Played around with one in a Radio Shack... Felt Pretty Plasticky

Went to my local Radio Shack (Bay Area, CA), and they had just gotten a couple of V265s... I asked 'em to take one out of the box so I could see what it looked like & how solid it felt.

First off, in person, it looks a lot like a baby v710. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is entirely individual, but to me the phone looked pretty good in person. However, the phone also felt very plastic. Those of you expecting/hoping for that 'super solid Moto feel' may be disappointed. In fact, solidity-wise, it felt almost exactly like my Samsung 530, a plastic phone.

Which isn't a horrid thing... my 530 has held up well.
