First Impressions - Goodbye Moto
I'm looking to replace my V60i and after the disappointing V710 (forget the bluetooth and camera issues, the low ear piece volume made it unusable outdoors), I had pinned my hopes on the V265. What a waste of time.
I saw a mock up today in a Verizon kiosk at Circuit City. It looked pretty awful in terms of materials and construction. Later on I was able to try working models at a Verizon corporate store. The phone exterior is only fair. The plastic is decent, but on the two samples I looked at had little bits of waste plastic on the edges (as if the pieces hadn't been trimmed when removed from the molds). The outside display is nicely visible even with the back light off.
The real trouble starts inside. The main display is dull, even ...

i'm mixed...i like the size...i actually think the fit and finish is pretty decent..i'm expecting the speakerphone to be top notch...and i read the earpiece is good too...i think its alittle pricy at 100 bucks after rebate considering it has no flash and has a small dullish screen
the keypad is trick tho...only activates when it senses a low light condition

In my few hours playing with this phone, I really like it. Read my other thread on the banner problem. Anyways, I do like the feel of the phone in general, the weight & size, as well as the feel of the keys. The screen isn't as good as say an LG, but that doesn't bother me as the screen is defintly better than the one on my Mot V2260's dot matrix black and white screen. Plus, with a smaller screen, the battery life it better on this phone. Don't let the review that started this thread turn you away. I suggest doing what jagolden suggests, and that is to go in and test it out yourself. The speakerphone is really loud and clear and can pick up my voice while the phone is sitting several feet away; great while driving. The earpiece volu...

I think it's a little pricey too compared to the competition, but if you consider that the $100 is the launch price, then I have to figure that this phone is going to be a bargain soon with the deals that always come for the holidays. If you're looking for a high-end phone, then don't even try the V265 because of the small screen and marginal camera, you will be disappointed. I just want a good looking phone that works well since I get a new one every year, and so far I think I've made a good choice...I've used LG and Samsung in the past, but always try to give Motorola a chance since they're a local Chicago company, but the V710 was just a little more pricey than what I wanted. The voice quality and speaker-phone are above average and I ...

Actually it wasn't. The evaluation wasn't thorough enough to give it any sort of a meaningful star rating. As the subject stated - it is a first impression, not a full review.
