Screen Quality

I have done alot of research for a new phone, and was excited to see this one coming out as it seemed nearly perfect for me. 😁 I have been to several radioshacks but none of them have a working unit. ☚ī¸ For those of you that have seen the screen; is it just poor quality bad 😕 , or is it not even worth having a color screen because it is so bad đŸ‘ŋ . I'm not really interested in the camera and may wait for the v260, that is unless the screen is horrible. The other phone I am considering is the v300, which I love the quality and solid feel of it, but once again don't want the camera. I think a one year contract with the v260 will not be to expensive, and if a better phone comes out I will just upgrade. Any thoughts?

While someone's answering this question, can you also input on the external display? Is it white/black like the photos or blue/black like on VZW.com? Also is it readable without the backlighting?
Thanks.

The external display is white/black (blue musta been a discoloration in the photo). And it IS readable without the backlighting.

One surprising fact is that neither the internal nor external displays show the day or date at all...ever (only the time)!

It doesn't show the date? Hmmm...can that be fixed with a future software update (assuming they release one) or is that just the nature of the phone (unfixable)?

Don't know the answer to your question about an update. I doubt it's a flaw. I assume it's the nature of the phone. In my opinion, it's hardly a big deal -- I tend to remember what day it is!!!

There's not enough screen real estate to show both the time and date along with the home keys.

The v265 does have the time, of course, but not the day/date. If it can be set in the preferences, I've yet to figure out to how to do it. And i've yet to have a phone that required you to go out of your way to add the day/date. So,,, i dunno.

Does the keypad light up? How does the mp3 ringtones sound? Is the music clear? does it have some bass? hows the menu? Is it better then the t720?
Basicaly is it worth buying. I really dont like the other phones verizon has. Especially if your not rich.

Yes, the keypad lights up blue (it's light sensitive, as in it only lights when it senses surrounding darkness necessitating it, which is a nice battery-saving feature).

Ringtones sound fine to me, but that's a very subjective thing.

The menu is OK. Typical of Motorolas. There are manufacturers with better menus, in my opinion.

As far as the 720, I've never used that phone, so can't compare it.

ok thanks,But the ringtones sounds fine? Can you compare it to your phone? Is it better or worse. How about compared to moto's on nextel. I hate to have a phone when it rings its sounds ugly. I think the speaker and the clarity of the ringtones are very important on a cellphone.

If you go to Menu, Tools, Datebook...you'll see that the phone does have the Date available and I think it updates automatically because I didn't have to set it. Fincher is probably right, it doesn't look like there's enough real estate on the display for the "Verizon Wireless" and the time.

real estate? you mean screen size? If that the case, with my t720 when i updated my software it had verizon wireless ontop as my banner.

Right, I'm aware that the phone DOES have the day/date accessible (via numerous steps). All I've said is that the phone does not display it automatically on either screens. It's hardly a negative to the phone ... really more of a non-factor, in my opinion.
