My Impressions

Got the phone today. First off, the reason I bought it was size. The v710 had all the bells and whistles but for me, the size was most important. I miss my old v60 and even though it's not as small it's a lot better than my old t730.

Screen is small. On top of that, after stepping out of the store in the bright sunlight, it was difficult to see the screen. Moto switched the Send/End buttons so for me that's something to get use to. The "Smart Key" is back but you can't assign it anything because it's the speakerphone button. That's a shame because in the v60 I made it my phonebook button. No worries though. Also, the fact that the date isn't shown on both the internal and external screens is a major inconvenience in my eyes. Spe...

Danthalas, if you can find out then post it up here that would be great. I personally think it's stupid that the date doesn't show up.

Yes please post, that will help make my decision on whether I get the 265 or the 710, this week. The time & date on both screens is a big plus 4 me.

I have always been a fan of Motorola, but all they have put out recently is garbage. The 265 feels and looks more like a child's toy than a cell phone. I was afraid to hold the phone too tightly, thinking it might just shatter into pieces. The side buttons so plasticy they are inoperable. This phone is destined to be as horrible as the 720. I still believe Samsung has the superior phones for Verizon. The a670 is well built, fully functional and smaller in size. Go with a Samsung, you won't be dissapointed.

I would have to disagree with you. As a person who actual owns the phone, I think the construction of the phone is on par if not better than other cell phone companies. Everyone seems to have a problem with moto construction material (i.e. afraid to hold the phone too tightly, thinking it might just shatter into pieces) of there phones but every other company is using the same material.
The signal strength on this phone is far superior to any phone in it's category in the D.C./Baltimore area. The speaker phone and earpiece quality is excellent, very loud and clear. Using the voice commands add extra convince and no training required. The best part was it was free with new ever two and fifty dollar rebate.
Why do you think verizon has to al...

P.S.

I see you posted a review of the phone 🙄 .That's fun since you don't even own one. Way to sabotage the phone's rating moto hater 😈

I was in central PA mountains this weekend with four VZW customers (Samsung A650, an LG model ?, Moto 265, and Moto Startac). Guess which phones were able to pull a signal out of those mountains? That's right, the two moto phones. The others were useless. Just another reason why people remain loyal to the brand.

Outside of work I even run into people with an LG or samsung. They start blaming the carrier and not the phone. I tell them right away... return the phone from the dealer they got it from and come see me. LG and Samsung are dropping the analog off the cell service thinking that would improve quality. "All Digital" or do you mean "Digital ONLY"? Motorola is still and will always be the best.

Like I said before you should own the phone before you review it. I've used moto products for many years and always been happy and look forward to many more years.

P.S. Here is the link to the forum you should be in.

I gave up on moto after their t720 fiasco. Man, was that a piece of serious junk. After battling with that phone for 4 months, it short-circuited, overheated, and the battery leaked all over my pants.

You only get 1 strike with me. v60 was their glory. they reached the top, and they fell hard.

sounds like an overexaggerated and unrealistic review by dmater01. all comparable phones in the same price range are plastic-y. what's with the holding it tight will make it shatter comment? why don't you try that on the LGs. they look more plastic-y than the v265. You mentioned side buttons are inoperable? I guess you must been playing the toy version of this phone and not the real thing. I think if you like to brag about the a670, maybe go to Samsung's forum and post your opinions there, maybe someone will believe you.

"The side buttons so plasticy they are inoperable." I actually think that having them hard to press is a good thing, since I carry it in my pocket, and the easily pressed buttons of the LG would get pushed and change my settings while the phone is in my pocket. You just have to use a little force on these buttions; they are not going to acidentially be pressed, which is a good thing for buttons on the outside.

people are too hard on this motorola...honestly i think this one will be pretty decent...doesn't seem like it was rushed to market...720 and 710...it'll be inexepsnsive...so buyer remorse won't be too bad....the camera could be better...but could be worse...i know moto speakers are real good...main reason i'm interested...and its menu system has actually gotten more friendly vs past motos...i'm also interested in the iTap...i hear it makes words of whatever you type in...make it easier to use words i use
the dc600 bluetooth adapter is also another thing...much cheaper alternative to the 710...with probabaly a better reliability
plus..its compact...and its automatic backlight for th ekeypad is sick
