Peach -- 6255i -- outside display

Hey Justpeachy. I shoulda asked you b4. Will the outer display stay on at all times displaying the time and signal strength? Or do we have to press a button to get info. I sure like those taht stay on, but color outside displays don't usually work that way. Thanks.

For those waiting on Verizon or USCC...

I was informed by a Nokia rep, that Verizon decided to pass up the Nokia 6255i, and instead chose to go with the 6235i. He said that the 6255i might be carried through some indirect dealers for Verizon like Radio Shack though. He also said that Nokia is not happy with Verizon's decision and that they might give them the choice of either taking both models or taking nothing! Ouch...lol So I guess time will tell what agreement Verizon and Nokia come to. But if they do end up selling the 6255i, it won't be for about 3 months, due to the fact the the regional carriers get a 2 month exclusive hold once they get it and USCC won't be getting until the end of May.... He also informed me further on the delay for USCC. In a nutshell, since USCC hasn't...

Alltel (!)

I talked last night to an Alltel rep about the v710. I've found this store's employees in the past to be on the level and very knowledgable. The rep indicated that Alltel is getting a nokia flip bluetooth phone around end of may/beginning of june. The rep mentioned some details (that I won't go into here) that lead me to believe that they know what they are talking about.

Also, expect it to be less expensive than the v710. My guess is that nokia will be specifically undercutting the v710 on price.

FWIW

Boring cell-days...

This is a boring time as we await the 6255i. Very few people have bothered to give reviews of it and there's not much gossip floating around. Hopefully we'll all have our grubby little hands on the 6255i in about 28 days. 😕

Accessories

Does anyone know if they make faceplates or extended life batteries for this phone. I seem to remember seeing one of the demo phones with a black cover and orange accents (on howard forums). Since the battery life is not that good, it would be nice to get an extended battery to make it last longer. Any info would be appreciated.

The 6255i's battery life...

Sucks.

With average use, coming off an all night charge the phone will die (with bluetooth turned off) by 10:30-11:00 PM if I start my day around 8:00 am.

That SUCKS.

I've got another battery on order but it really blows that it isn't better. 😡

WOrdie, now that the honeymoon period is over.......

..... do you still love the 6255i ? Or have the "blemishes" started to annoy you more and more. By blemishes, I mean things like poor battery life and an OK button that's a little too small. Do you still think it was worth the wait etc....?

Software sources?

So now that I have the phone, where are some good software sources for games, utilities, and such? Not really looking for ringtones right now, since I can set any mp3 to be the ringtone. But I would like to find some nice, preferably free games. I'm also interested in software that might set the ring profile according to events on the calendar. For instance, if I have a meeting on the calendar, I'd like the phone to automagically put itself in meeting mode for the duration of the meeting, and then switch back to normal afterwards.

No more 6255i's on eBay?

I no longer see any of these phones on eBay. 😕 Are there other sources from which to purchase these?

Ooooh - I've figured out what phone I'm getting excited about next!

Although it's not listed here on phonescoop yet, I'm excited for the Nokia 6155. No bluetooth, but it has something even better (yeah, you can start flaming me now) - a fully functional GPS and mapping software. "The interesting part about the 6155 is that it will ship with pre-built GPS mapping and navigational software which will be able to give you turn-by-turn direction."

If it has the same fantastic reception as the 6255, I'm definitely going for the 6155 (Assuming Verizon carries it...and it comes out any time this century...).

Is that cool or what?

Nokia 6255i ringtones and note polyphony

I am considering purchasing this phone. I was wondering how many ringtones does it have? Also, does it come equipped with manufactured mp3 ringtones? Another question I have is does it have the 24 chord polyphony or 16 chord polyphony?

If I buy this phone..

...at no contract pricing, can I activate it on Cellular One? Does anyone on this website work for cellular one? I love this phone, but I don't want to wait for 3 years for cell one to get it.... Maybe when the alltel merger is complete, Cell one phones wont suck anymore... haha
