Nokia 6255i / 6256i

Has anyone here had any luck unlocking a Metro PCS 6255i and then getting it to work with verizon? I am not an expert with cell phones but I just want a damn bluetooth cellphone with verizon, that isnt the crappy 710. any help would be appreciated...

Can anybody help me understand why my new nokia 6255i, a CDMA phone, has a SIM card slot? This has me perplexed....will I be able to insert a GSM SIM card to copy my contacts? Thanks for any help!

Just had the 6255i in my hands at the local Alltel store. Was chomping on the bit to buy this phone for 4 months now. Then disaster struck. There is NO WAY to keep either the keypad light or the Main screen light or the Outside display screen light on for more than 10 seconds !!! Forget it. I always have my lights set for "on flip open". I realize that the lights drain the battery, but I'm willing to put up with that. I just charge the battery a little more often. So, in summation, the whole phone goes dark in 10 seconds. Then you hafta press a button to re-activate the lights. EVERY 10 SECONDS !!!! Phoooeeey.

I'm hoping that someone for Cellular One or Western Wireless or Metro PCS tell me that it's different on their 6255i, but I'm a...

I have been unable connect my phone to the computer via Nokia PC Suite. It just keeps running and does nothing. I am trying to connect through USB.
Is anyone else havng problems connecting?

does anyone know how much it cost's from alltel with out getting the contract discount?

Will this phone come out for verizon, as I have been seeing more ads on t.v. for this phone here in NY. Any info would be appresciated.

On both Howard Forums and Alltel Users forums, it is reported that the phone can be ordered today from Alltel's telesales and it will be released on Thursday, June 23, 2005.

As for the information concerning MMS not working with USCC, I was the one who originally typed that post that was quoted on here. For what it's worth the USCC employee that I talked to said that there was a problem with the 6255i and USCC's MMS server. Many users have stated in the USCC forum at HowardForums that they have seen commercials on TV for the 6255i that say coming soon to US Cellular. Hopefully this is true.

As for verizon, I've heard that Nokia is developing the Nokia 6256i for them. Not sure on the specifics about it but Verizon HATES bluetooth.

From the phonescoop front page, the Nokia 6265 has a 2 megapixel camera and bluetooth, and -
"The Nokia 6265 is expected to begin shipping in the fourth quarter of 2005."

The 6255i isn't even out yet for any major carrier...

On the other hand, the 6255i was supposed to be out "fourth quarter of 2004", so perhaps their estimates aren't the best...

I 've been a proud owner, of the Nokia 6255i ,for approximately 3 months now. However, I have one issue that's aggravating me. The other day I notice that at the upper right edge of the chrome finish, it has turned black!? 😕 I talk daily on the phone, but should this still be happening? Has any one else with this phone had this problem? If so is there a solution? Thanks.

i can buy one from metroPCS can anyone tell me how can unlouck it or what other options i have to put it with verizon.

I just recently bought this phone. It is a great phone. I really like it but I have noticed that phone resets itself. Some of my settings will automatically go back to the original factory settings. Has anyone else has this problem?

Has anyone had any strange issues with the phone powering itself off... and I do not mean due to a low battery... I mean with a full charge, just out of the blue durring a call powering off-- it has happened 3 times to me in less than 2 weeks... 😕

Anyone know what the largest MMC card this will hold? Can it handle the 256 meg card?

Check out this article, it is kind of a continuation of what was on Phonescoop recently about Samsung's 70nm NAND flash memory. I wonder if someone made a 4gb (or 8gb!) MMC card that would work in the 6255i.
