Recommendations, please...

OK, it looks like I'm going to re-up with Alltel now, then bite the bullet when Verizon gets to Charlottesville and buy the phone I really want at full retail price. The Samsung Renown is what I really want, but it can only be activated on Verizon, not Alltel. What does Alltel have right now (and I already know none of the regular phones have CDMA/GSM capability, just a Blackberry and maybe one other) that has superior sound quality and full duplex? Any of the Samsungs? Are they any good?

Give me some info, folks. I've got a V3m that gets a little less reliable every day.

account number

does anyone know why alltel will not give out acct numbers over the phone aside from the obvious fear of custies porting out. this is the first time I have encountered this prob. also the rep ask if there was anything else he could do for me... dont you have to do something in the first place to do something ELSE. what a joke of a carrier you are

Return Policy

Can anyone tell me what Alltel's return policy is? I got an Evoke this weekend and want to return it as soon as possible. I have to drive over an hour to get to an Alltel store, so I was kind of hoping I could to a return through the mail.

Tell me something I don't know!

I am almost at the end of my Alltel contract, and Verizon will be here in Charlottesville, VA at the end of next month. I am eligible to upgrade with Alltel now and keep the plan that I have for another two years. However, I see nothing in the way of phones on Alltel that knock me out. I've been using the Moto RAZR V3m for the last two years, and it's about all I really need or want. Verizon has the Samsung Renown which really knocks me out...full duplex speakerphone, a solid piece, and quad band GSM when I go to England, which I will shortly. I'm really torn between staying with Alltel and my plan, or dumping it and going with Verizon, which I had out of another market for eight years before switching to Alltel (needed a local number w...

A question about MMS with Alltel/.

I have a BB pearl 8130 with no data plan, and a data block. I have had it this way from the time I bought the device at full price. I was able to send and receive picture messages with no problem until last week. When I call tech. support, I'm told I cant access pic. messaging with the data block on the line, and have to have the plan.
As I have mentioned, I have not had a data plan, and had the block( to avoid any accidental overages) for some time now, and able to send/receive pics. What has changed, and how can I start sending receiving pics again?
Thank you for any help. I know that most people here believe any and all BB's should have a data plan, but i simply do not use the Internet on my device, and do use all the other feature...

Question about Alltel contract

I have been an Alltel customer for almost 5 years. My contract was supposed to be renewed in November of 2006, but it mistakenly was not. I was not informed of this until September 2007, and was then offered another 2 year contract, to which I agreed. I got a new phone at that time. My brother, who is on my Family Plan, did not get a new phone at that time...in fact he did not get a new phone until July 2008. When I checked my Alltel account this morning, I saw my renewal date as May 2009, whereas my brother's is not until March 2010. I am so confused. I'm looking to either switch onto my in-laws US Cellular Family Plan or join Verizon when my contract is up, but is that in May of this year, or will I need to wait until next March? A...

I went in to Alltel to pay my bill today at the payment kiosk and it wouldn't allow me to make a payment on my account and they had a sign on top of the kiosk saying that if you are unable to pay your bill the reason is because your account as being transfered to vzw so this must be happening very soon!!

Treo 700WX Questions....

I had a Glimmer and traded it with someone on Craigs list this weekend for a Treo 700 WX. i didn't realize how out of date this Treo was or I would have kept my glimmer! 😡 Why will it only let me send pictures to other email addresses and not as MMS messages? Is there somewhere or somehow I can upgrade this and get MMS on my phone?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!

In the markets where Alltel will soon be Verizon, there are scores of indirect retailers. Will these stores automatically become Verizon indirects? If not, and yoou're working for one, will you just be SOL? Will it be on a case by case basis as to whether these indirect channel Alltels become Verizon indirects?

I'd love to hear what you experts have to say about this. I've been out of the cellular loop doing advertising sales for quite a while, and your info is better than mine.

Thank you!

In a strange turn of events.....

... I signed up for Alltel again. I had no choice. I was sick of spataric coverage with T-Mobile. Lost calls, so-so internet coverage on my PDA (my only source of net at this time). Alltel's signal is much better than when I had them in 05. Are they sharing the same coverage that Verizon does, since Verizon has purchased Alltel?

Anyone answer phones? (can you hear me now?) NO!

Is there some reason why the local compnay owned Alltel stores dont answer there phones, EVER? It gets kinda annoying that there phones keep getting shipped to me that are meant to be shipped to the store. I live in Idaho, maybe thats the reason, maybe they dont know how to. I just think that if I was a consumer, I would never do business with someone that never answered a phone.

Third Party ringtones

So when Verizon takes over will we be able to use third party or our own created ringtones?
I just got an account for the first time and was looking to make my own ringtone and just found out that Alltel will not let you use your own created or a third party ringtone.Unlike most all other service providers out there. 😡

This is very strange!

From Phonescoop.com's news reporting from today!

Alltel Boosts MyCircle Numbers by 5
Today, 9:05 AM by Eric M. Zeman

"Starting Friday, March 27, Alltel's MyCircle 10 and MyCircle 20 customers will be able to add an extra 5 numbers to their MyCircle calling plans at no extra cost. This expansion is valid in the 91 markets that are still operating as Alltel wireless. My Circle 15 starts at $60 per month and includes 900 anytime minutes, and My Circle 25 starts at $100 per month and includes 2,100 anytime minutes."

I just got off the phone with Alltel Customer Service, who said that this is absolutely incorrect information, and that they are not responsible for what appears on phonescoop.com.

Gee, I can think of five other peopl...

Alltel contract in non divested market living in divested market

I have alltel phone numbers from southern minnesota and now live in Fargo, ND a divested market. I need to get local numbers in Fargo, nd and have a store that I can get service at locally. I need to get my phone contract cancelled because of this. Has anyone heard anything about getting out of the contract because customers can not get help in a divested market. I would have to drive 3 hours to go to a store I could actually get serviced at. All I want to do is get those cancelled and get a local Alltel number in Fargo without the cancellation fees of my non divested phone numbers. If anyone has any tips let me know. Thanks.

P.S. I dont see how they can do this because I didn't sign a contract with verizon i did with alltel

Should I Stay Alltel?

I live in an area that is not being merged into Verizon (Sandusky, OH). I will be moving to Pittsburgh in the fall for school. I was wondering what my coverage would be like in Pittsburgh if I stayed Alltel. Would I be roaming all the time and have a huge bill since Alltel won't exist there? My contract is up and this is the deciding factor of whether or not I keep Alltel or switch to Verizon.

Thanks in advance!

What if I owe a bill to Verizon?

I left verizon last year because of a bill that I disputed for months that they would not credit. When I opened service, the rep did not add internet, which I asked them to sign me up for. My first bill was outrageous with overage charges. I just started service with alltel two days ago and I am very happy. I live in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC and I am positive Verizon will take my market area, because they're big here. Once they merge Alltel customers into Verizon, are they going to see my past due bill and cancel my service? I've heard that I will still be on my same Alltel plan through the end of my contract, but what about after that? Then will they notice this or will they let me renew? 😲

I have asked this question before but want confimation.

I am currently in an Alltel area that will soon be switching to Verizon. My current contract is up with Alltel, so I want to upgrade to a smartphone. The problem that I have is I don't like any of the Alltel smartphones. I do however, like the Samsung smartphones that Verizon has. Is there anyway I can get a Verizon smartphone now while I am still with Alltel?
