I have a BB pearl 8130 with no data plan, and a data block. I have had it this way from the time I bought the device at full price. I was able to send and receive picture messages with no problem until last week. When I call tech. support, I'm told I cant access pic. messaging with the data block on the line, and have to have the plan.
As I have mentioned, I have not had a data plan, and had the block( to avoid any accidental overages) for some time now, and able to send/receive pics. What has changed, and how can I start sending receiving pics again?
Thank you for any help. I know that most people here believe any and all BB's should have a data plan, but i simply do not use the Internet on my device, and do use all the other feature...

Has nothing to do with your question, but what features exactly do you use on your PEARL that other phones don't have that made you want to pay full retail? The notepad? Calendar? Brickbreaker? I could maybe understand if it had full qwerty but even then, alot more phones have that now. Why would you want a BB if you don't use the web? Just curious. Oh and maybe your issue has something to do with Verizon. Maybe. I honestly don't know.

Well, aside from Brick breaker, those reasons, and able to use mp3's as ring tones for MSG, and a great price on the device. id of rather had the bold, or something with a true qwerty keyboard, but got it at a reseller going out of business sale for $40, and no contract. found it hard to argue with that, and it is a MUCH better device then the Q I had!
And I have noticed that I am almost always in roaming now, wonder if that has something to do with it.

$40? I see.....I thought you said you bought it at full price which is close to $400. I'd have bought it too for that price. Makes sense now. Yeah, the Q was a POS. Have no idea why you roam more now, I havent' worked for Alltel in almost a year now so I'm a little out of the loop.

I can testify and say amen to the Q being horrible! I'm on my 2nd Qc9 in two weeks.

Roaming may indeed be the reason for your MMS problem. SMS and MMS messages can break up and cut out just like calls do in roaming/low-signal situations, so I wouldn't be suprised.

As mitchell1 said before me, have you updated your phone's PRL lately? Doing so will update your phone's ability to reach the network, so you can reach any new or upgraded towers in your area. Dial *228 (TALK) on your phone, then choose option 2 and the update will apply automatically.

but it is all a mute point. I was on my way home on Fri., and received a call from a local reseller in my area, informing me that the device had been stolen from there store, and I was going to be arrested for possession of stolen propriety. I should of known it was to good to be true.
I am glad that the store could get there device back, but am upset that they would contact me about the device, and threaten with an arrest. When I asked how they knew I had the phone, the owner of the store informed me that they did a sweep of Alltel system, and found the esn number on my account, and called me.
At the end I got ripped off from what i thought was a reseller going out of business, and then again by another one trying to recoup there loss...
