Inquiring minds want to know!!!

In the markets where Alltel will soon be Verizon, there are scores of indirect retailers. Will these stores automatically become Verizon indirects? If not, and yoou're working for one, will you just be SOL? Will it be on a case by case basis as to whether these indirect channel Alltels become Verizon indirects?

I'd love to hear what you experts have to say about this. I've been out of the cellular loop doing advertising sales for quite a while, and your info is better than mine.

Thank you!

I won’t speak for Verizon or Alltel, but in general it would be a case by case basis. They will evaluate and then adjust accordingly. I can speak to when Sprint and Nextel merged that indirects and directs were largely impacted. I have been out of loop for so long with the other carriers so I can’t comment on that but it is the same processes as the S/N merger.

It would depend on wether your current company decides to re-sign with VZW. They are currently negotiating with all indirects in the non-divested markets to get them to join VZW. Also VZW has a 4 mile radius where competing stores cannot be within. Hopefully that sheds some light!

Let me make sure I understand what you're saying here. If there is a Verizon company store at Location A, a store which is an indirect cannot be any closer geographically than 4 miles away? If this is true, where did you learn that? How do I confirm that is true? I know of at least 2 indirects currently selling Alltel service here in Charlottesville that are absolutely within that 4 mile radius. As a matter of fact, I think they're within four miles of each other! Both are chains, and I would almost guarantee one of them WILL sell Verizon when the takeover occurs...not certain about the other.

I know of a VZW direct store within the same shopping district as an indirect one... just a short walk away, not even 1 mile...

Of course, that doesn't mean anything in relation to whatever policy affects the Alltel - VZW merger...

Confirmed by our soon-to-be Indirect Manager, they do not allow stores to be within 4 miles of each other.

Alltel's policy is different. We're less than 2 miles from a corporate store at one of our locations, but we have a better location so they allowed it.

It is my understanding that Verizon is far more strict about that, but they seem really cool so far.

This will be interesting since there are 4 Alltel (one corp, 3 agents) and 5 Verizon (1 corp, 4 agent [two in one mall]) locations within that radius here in our town. That would make 9 locations within that radius! WOW!!

I think there will have to be some give and take on both sides. Corp/Agent. You will not see anything happen until the divesture is complete. I don't think VZ will bring some of the really smaller dealers that are not hitting budget onboard.

In my area within 2 miles of the corporate VZW store is a corporate Alltel store, 3 agent Alltel stores and at least 5 VZW agents (3 of which are within the same strip mall area
